Tony French can you explain the practical meaning? How do we stop the destruction of our body, the Earth? We know what is destroying it, we know what is powering that force, Electricity. How do we stop this to have a material impact and just rhetorical expressions?

In the Hungarian language, too "lelek" means soul/spirit, "lelegzet" means breath, "leg" means air "eg" means sky.....
We ought to pay more attention to the beautiful wisdom coded into different languages.

Katy Allen - Hi Katy- I am Hungarian......I love my mother tongue, I love its playfulness, its creative and poetic edge! (I did not use the "accent" dashes with the words I mentioned in the comment, so correctly it looks "lélek" "lélegzet" "lég" "ég".... and a few more to add "élet" - meaning life, "lét"- meaning (the fact of) being.... if I push it just slightly I can hear the connection also to "lény" - meaning (any living) being and even "lényeg" - meaning the essence, the most important thing of something.)
      :o)

@@kbeetles Beautiful, thank you for sharing! I got to spend four months in Hungary, living in Budapest. I only learned basic language skills- mostly said "nem beselek magyarul" but still gained such an appreciation for the culture and secret magic of the land there :)

Absolutely brilliant talk, except towards the end regarding the name of the Judeo-Christian god - yes, there are references of the tetragrammaton YHWH being used in magical practices, but on a practical level keep in mind that the Hebrew language in an abjad. The abjad is a writing system in which each symbol stands for a consonant, leaving it to readers to supply an appropriate vowel. Various cultures from the Middle and Near East used this system. So YHWH is one of many abjad, it is not unique - that is simply how many cultures from that region wrote in general. Secondly, to suggest that when we breathe we are breathing the name of the Judeo-Christian god is implying that every human being is connected to that particular god and that is absolutely not true. That god is meaningful to the people who connect with him. He is not a universal god as people from all over the world have other gods, some much, much older than the Judeo-Christian god. And no, the gods are not all the same, they each have their own characteristics and are endlessly diverse. To suggest that every human being breathes the name of a god from a particular belief system is condescending to all other belief systems and their Gods and Creator Spirits. Other than these points, I think what David Abram has to say in the video above is absolutely brilliant and extremely important.

Is David Abram meaning what you are hearing though? Ie. Is the point he was attempting to make truly the one you caught through your perceptional filters? I'm not judging, but rather trying to invite to a deeper inquiry - as I myself often have to practice to be able to emphatically listen. I interpreted his description as an example of a(read: one) connection to the holy or divine, rather than THE connection. I'm fascinated with language as a communication tool, but I am also becoming very aware of its limits and shortcomings in true, unreduced communication. By that I mean communication of qualia, which I don't believe can be communicated through words. Do you feel me?

I hear what you are saying. I also heard David saying that he is giving an example. Only one of many examples like you mentioned. Many beliefs....
