You guys have a great balance of roleplaying and gameplay. I think this is the group I have found that is closest to what a regular gameplay group is like. Most of the actual plays I have seen end up very very heavily into roleplay where the characters go on and on in very long conversations and become more like audio dramas, rather than roleplaying games. Some of those can be good, but sometimes they can easily get bogged down in one story area for hours and you just want them to move on. I like this approach where you the players and keeper remain actively engaged in the module because it gives a good sense of how the module basically plays out if a group were to follow it.
Thanks so much! Glad you're enjoying the liveplays.
I'd say that this session is played in a more mechanical style, reminiscent of D&D monster slaying.
Good video, thanks for posting. As per the below, this group plays very realistically, with the conversations between players being geared toward the adventure and good roleplaying without becoming over powering, long, drawn out, like many actual plays I have seen. My experience is limited with Call of Cthulhu, being a long time fantasy gaming player and game master, but this live play is most similar to the few Call of Cthulhu games I have played. Great job!
Wow you got to the cellar super fast, less than 12 minutes!
this was great. New keeper here and plan on running this. It was nice to see someone else run it. Gonna watch your other videos for inspiration
Thanks for watching and good luck running your own games!
Your version is much more true to the source material than the All Star sessions. A little less creepy than the version at Into the Darkness channel.
Loved the idea of the Keeper getting Dr. Fogherty to talk to the Creature of Darkness, but he should have had it lie and say that the only way to be rid of it was to destroy the seal (actually thereby freeing it :p)
And the sharpshooter of the group does it again! Can we go 3 for 3? Let's find out...
Sharpshooters are great... Right up until the monster isn't affected by bullets!
@@ChaosiumInc Oh no...I feel like this is a horrible hint for what's to come in #3. My players reaction to me giving them a creature like that is usually "Scatter!" And lots of cursing from my Occult Detective who can't just resort to "shoot the thing," anymore. Ahh, it's good to be Keeper.
How do you generate those subtitles?
this one seems quite rushed
Listing name, pronouns, player & social media is helpful, would be great if you could include their profession as well, makes it easier to track them.
He/Him? They/Them? She/her? what?
Hello! We record player pronouns in the top left, and investigator pronouns in the bottom right.
@@ChaosiumInc Okey, so why do I need to to know a players pronoun in a game of Cthulhu online? How is it useful?
Should I write my pronoun here in the comment so you all know?
I still dont get it. They are playing a game.
people's pronouns matter. many people now include them in their profiles.
@@thornbush8 Yes they do. But how does it matter in the context of online Roleplaying? What should I do with the information that someone identifies as whatever gender?
in this case, probably only use for commenting, 'that thing that 'x' did, they were great. you're in the privilidged position that isn't affected, so just ignore it. let people be ?
Ngl that story of a psychologist spending his whole life creating some weird bond with a hate monster is pretty cool
