Since my youth I have been interested in wood carving. There were breaks only when I studied exact sciences at the university. Half a year ago I also bought myself a jet jwl-1221vs lathe. Now I'm torn between mathematics and a lathe. Your ash product is amazing. I looked as if spellbound. Thank you! My name is Alexander, I am from Siberia, from Russia.
Thank you. It's hard to balance video length with not leaving anything out. I watch most videos at 1.5x to save time, but I have to watch some turning videos at normal speed to keep from skewing my perspective on what speed to work. I speed up mine where nothing will be lost. Haven't had complaints about speedup, so I'll keep doing it.
Thank you, Roger. It's kind of humbling when viewers say the learn something from me. I still consider myself a beginner, but I guess I'm out of kindergarten now.
Hey Eric, really nice bowl. I’m not sure if you have heard of Cook Woods or not. They sell exotic woods and are in Klamath Falls. Might be a place where you can get something different to turn. They have a website. Thanks much for sharing your awesome videos.
The only way to get that ring off is to cut it off. My knuckles are larger than they were when I put it on many years ago. Others have urged me to take it off citing danger. When I ask for examples of injury while using a WOOD lathe, all I get are links to injuries on metal lathes and all manner of unrelated tools and equipment. I can't see or imagine any condition or circumstance in working at a wood lathe in which wearing a wedding band increases either risk or severity of injury. If you, or anyone else, can show me that I'm wrong, please do. I appreciate your concern, Gary.

Welcome to the world of woodturning, Alexander. I'm happy you enjoyed the video.
Love the ogee curve, even though it takes more work to cut and sand. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I had just turned a few straight-walled, flat-bottom boxes and was bored, so I thought I'd have some fun with this one.
Thank you for showing us your work. It was very useful to watch someone with similar skills and experience to my own. We can improve together!

A Beauty.😊
I don't disagree.

Thanks for the tip, Michael.
Nice piece 👍
Thank you Luie. (I hope I spelled your name right.)
@ perfect 😀
It sure looks like ash to me. Turned out nice...pun intended 😁
Thanks for the confirmation, Paul.
PLEASE ditch the ring when you demonstrate turning. II t promotes a very unsafe practice..
