Hi Kylie, I posted a comment in an older video, I like to repost here. You provide wonderful set of data for expat and tourist as well. Wonder if a tourist can find an apartment for just a couple of months?
We just needed our NIF - the landlord didn't want to see anything else. The apartment was on the market for a while, and we negotiated to pay less but asked for a lease for 15 months. We have just signed a second 15-month lease.
Love your finance and apartment hunting videos in Lisbon! How about exploring life, culture, language, and adapting to living in Portugal? It would add a great dimension to your channel. Keep up the awesome work! Remember to never feed the trolls; they must be starved of attention.
Hi Kylie what do real estate photographers charge to do 360 degree virtual tours of rental and sales of properties. I'm considering doing this and working with some agents and rental agencies. Thank you
As a guest in someone else’s country, you should reconsider sharing advice that directly harms the locals. Portuguese people have opened their arms to you. Whether you look at it this way or not, you’re encouraging foreigners to participate in practices that worsen the housing crisis (overbidding/additional months rent). You’re not planning on staying long-term yet you’re sharing long lasting, devastating advice. I’m not trying to be rude here so hopefully you understand where I’m coming from. Don’t be that person that does nothing but take and profit off the disempowerment of locals. It’s cruel.
Hi @b.kolije, thank you for your comment. I totally understand where you are coming from. My intention (and I don't think anyone's intention) is make the current rental crisis worse. The reason I give this specific advice is because without it, it's nearly impossible to find an apartment in central Lisbon to rent these days (that is assuming you are going through an agency to rent and don't have special connections to landlords here). I have been running a rental business here for several months and have only had 1 client successfully get an apartment without offering slightly over the asking price or paying additional months of rent in advance. Now, in my opinion, the better question is... why are landlords pricing their apartments so high in the first place? In my opinion, that is more greedy than someone coming along, needing a place to live, and offering to pay extra because they know there are so few apartments to go around. Renters are desperate for apartments and landlords know this, so they double the price of their apartments from the start. I wish I didn't have to offer this input, but it's just the reality of the situation. There really needs to be more building in Lisbon and Portugal overall. But, like I said, I totally get what you're saying :)
@@bomdiakylie 1000% agree that this is more so a failure of government and greed of landlords, but that doesn’t mean we, as immigrants to a new land, don’t have a responsibility to move as ethically as possible. Overbidding is incredibly unethical. Rich foreigners are not entitled to move to the center of Lisbon just because they want to - that’s the big one. Just because you want access to everything Portuguese people built, doesn’t mean you deserve it. You know what I mean? If the only way to get something is to harm others, you should look elsewhere. Especially being this is not a life or death decision as is common when people relocate to America. Landlords are the main people to blame, yes, but doesn’t mean you’re innocent paying prices Portuguese people could never afford. Like I mentioned prior, it’s quite cruel to participate in practices that are uprooting Portuguese people who have lived in Lisbon for decades.
@b.kolije I don't think you're being rude at all! I 100% agree - foreigners aren't entitled to or deserve homes in any particular location. Anyone who thinks they do is seriously wrong. Also, I don't think I'm 'innocent' or 'guilty' - I came here legally and pay taxes in this country, so technically, I have the right to have a home here as well. I think that my perspective is... people are getting visas here because the government is granting them... the government almost 10 years ago opened up these visa programs because, at that time, Portugal was in severe economic straights: the center of Lisbon had so many vacant buildings and small businesses were suffering. Because of this, they created visa opportunities for foreigners to come, live here, and spend money. The programs have been very successful at solving those particular problems so, in a way, the foreigners came here and did exactly what government wanted them to do by propping up the economy. However, the bad thing now is there is a housing issue (which I also do not believe is all the fault of foreigners but other factors as well). I truly do believe that if the government changes certain policies, foreigners can play a HUGE role in the housing solution but that's a longer story :)
Thank you for these tips… I am planning on moving to Portugal with my family in the next few months so this is greatly appreciated.
I love your videos. Please keep them coming! You have a way of presenting the information so clearly and comprehensively. I subscribed today. 😊❤
Thank you

I've heard from friends that moved to Portugal (Lisbon specifically) how expensive & competitive housing is becoming. Great tips.
Are you still assisting people in finding housing?
Great tips. Will you be makong more videos or have you moved away from Portugal?
Thank you!! I still live in Portugal :) Just extremely busy with business! :)
I guess you gave up. You gave truth. Thank you. I'm leaving most UA-cam subscriptions. Bye
🤣

in another video you said you quit portugal make up your mind
Try actually watching the video instead of just reading the thumbnail
That was Clickbait
@@s.b.4877 It's not clickbait if I actually answer the question/talk about the topic in my video. You probably didn't watch the video either.
@@bomdiakylie I think both the comment and my reply were referring to your "Why I Plan on Leaving Portugal..." video. With all respect.
