Didnt have a Marx themed wedding but was pleased that the wife insisted my framed vintage Animal Crackers film movie poster is displayed the living room, thats a win i think
So much to look forward to when I see Animal Crackers at the Fredonia Opera House, Expecting my mind to stumble over 'I think I'll try n make her', I'm picturing mental pratfalls and laughing already.
Just a small insert - I stopped when you mentioned that Hal Thompson was Mr. Stanley in "The Man Who Came to Dinner": the Mr. Stanley I knew was played by Grant Mitchell, a Capra regular. But it turns out there were two versions of "The Man Who...": the one I was thinking of, made in 1942, notable for casting Monty Wooley, who originated the role onstage, as did Mary Wickes; and featuring Bette Davis, Ann Sheridan, Jimmy Durante, and my favorite Billie Burke; but the one with Hal Thompson came a few years after, in 1947. The names here are unfamiliar to me, and now I want to see this slightly later version.
Animal Crackers is absolutely number one on my fave Marx movie list. In fact here is my personal fave list for what its worth: 1. Animal Crackers 2. Duck Soup 3. Monkey Business 4. Horsefeathers 5. Day at the Races 6. Big Store (believe it or not) 7. Coconuts 8. Night at the Opera 9. Go West 10. At the Circus Good enough. Room Service was horrendous and Night in Casablanca was ok at best. Excellent channel thx for sharing.
I'm pretty thrilled with Zeppo's talk singing, I'm still crazy about several talk songs from when I was a kid, Darktown Poker Club, Smoke smoke smoke That Cigarette, Hot Rod Lincoln.. love that stuff because I can recite with rhythm, but singing? Nope. Is there a proper term for that style of delivery?
I am listening to this episode again and you guys gave me a laugh. You must be a bunch bachelors if you think parents would bring their kids to see Animal Crackers. Parents went to see Animal Crackers to get away from the kids. As for Gone With The Wind... great film.
When someone overuses “actually”, I’m done. People parrot words and it’s most distracting, as well as annoying. Word of advice; Thesaurus! I’m outta here
I love the ending of this film. They wrapped up the whole painting theft story, then Harpo poisons everyone and lies down with the girl. Great stuff!

Congratulations on your 50th Marx Brothers Council Podcast! I just wish that the Marx Brothers would of made fifty films and/or close to that!

As for Gone With The Wind... great film.
I was trying to make that point .
I haven't listened to this yet but I just wanted to say: Nate Bonx.
Oops.... just listened. Nat Bonx! I must have had a strange interlude.

Actually this is the first time we’ve heard that.
