Really enjoyed this video and you are obviously very talented / dedicated, but what does the oval on the right hand side do? This is why I struggle with Loomis, what decides where you start, what part of the original is used to become the circle? I have so many questions!
The Loomis Method is not hard to understand, but sometimes, some artists should give proper proportions because I see where you put the proportion lines for the lips but I have seen a lot say put them in the middle of the eye instead of near the corners as you have done. I end up with huge lips and struggle to get the facial features correct. Proportions are everything. Simple is the best. Glad to see you put them in the right place.
The proportions differ according to the perspective of the face. We must look at the face well and study it well, no matter how we draw it. Well done and you are welcome
The Loomis method gives you guidelines for a standard face, but people’s faces are usually not standard, so it’s important to pay attention to the individuals proportions. It’s something I tend to struggle with as well, especially with young females like in this example.
Thank you, I almost went crazy trying to make complicated drawings😟 this video was very useful, well... I highly recommend this channel, it's really good. congratulations to the owner of the channel for the excellent videos😌👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I don't understand why the oval to the right though. What is the relevance of that? I'm genuinely curious because I have never seen that that approach before. Please can I have a detailed answer?
The oval represents the distance between the eyebrow to the tip of the head from the side. When we place it, it makes it easier for us to see and determine this distance.
@@drawing_tutorial20 OK I got ya now! Thank you for the quick response. When i do my portraits I have never used these circles. Now My highschool(I'm 50 y/o) teacher showed us and encouraged us to use circles but not in this way , I cant remember the name Annon? method , something like that. Anyway, I just used features of the persons face to add lines and build a partial grid and then move from there.
Hi, my name is Eliã and I have my dad's cell phone, I can't even make a good effort, imagine a realistic and similar drawing, apart from the eye, which I don't know how to make like the other😢
Great vid, thanks ! Do you think it's better to draw the eyebrows BEFORE the the eyes ? Because watching you let me think that way it's easier to find the right placement for each eye 🤔
This is according to the style of each artist. For me, I do the thing that I see most appropriate.. Sometimes I start with the eyes and sometimes with the eyebrows.. See what is appropriate for you and what is the best method for you and do it
If you practice drawing every day and make a large number of sketches per day, your drawing will develop greatly in just one month. And I paint in many ways. Just sketches You don't have to do shading in order to be able to draw a large number

que bonito!!! 😍🖤 estoy empezando, y aunque el dibujo siguiendo los pasos es sencillo, la expresión que genero en el mío es completamente distinta!! sabes a qué se puede deber?? es curioso..
Make sure you draw the circuit correctly first. Make sure that the lines of the elements are in the correct place. Compare the relationship between eyes and other elements in terms of size and distances between them. Finally, it is normal to make mistakes. Only continuing to train is what will make you develop and reduce your mistakes as you gain experience. Never stop
How to determine the second oval or circle diameter?! And it's position for large scale drawings of about 20 cms face itself.. I didn't get any answers so far 😮
Oval circle. The distance between the tip of the head to the end of the eyebrow. Do research on the skull, you will see that there is a cavity in this area. The oval circle denotes this cavity
😊 Friend this everyone understands.. But for a beginner? can we give accurate measures in this method? Eg: if I want to draw same face in big i.e 20cms dia of big circles...what would be the measurements for small?! Everyone guides by practice we can get. Yes it's true... After practice no need for circles... I'm drawing now without circles..... But for fresh learners. ?! I'm trying to find a perfect geometry for constructing reference lines...😊
@@sricharcoalworks If the circle is large or small, it is the same steps. We do not rely on measurements in centimeters. We start by estimating the distance by looking and guessing, and then we can make adjustments during drawing. These circles are only to facilitate vision .. Rely on your vision of the position of the oval circle, and if you notice that there is an error while drawing, correct it and do not care about the circle. Like I said, it's easy to see
@@sricharcoalworks But there is a way to solve this. If we assume that the oval circle is equal to one-third of the main circle, so it will also be equal to one-third of the circle, no matter how big it is. You can follow this way by comparing the size of things within things.

what's the purpose of the small inner circle? I've noticed people use it to also fix the position of the nose and hairline, but in this case not.
It basically represents the cavity between the end of the eyebrow to the tip of the head on the lateral side of the skull
and what about hair line and nose line position?
You are the one who determines their status according to your vision of them within the circle.
