Nothing beats the nyco material Helikon Tex M-65 jacket. Someone said, it is "museum grade" stuff. I love mine for about four years now!

I've got a real m65 that's been going strong since 1978, and another that's been going strong since around 1986.
@@TylerSnyder305I wrote about the new made jackets. The new"original" Alpha Industries M-65 is much poorer quality, than the Helikon one. I also have a Winfield Manufacturing made M-65 from 1981, in mint condition. I live in Hungary, Middle-East Europe, you can imagine, how rare it is toward us a jacket like that. I only wear it on red-letter days! 😅 Believe me: If you need a new M-65, with the original quality, buy the Helikon! 😉

My 1986 is a Winfield with a Selma liner, the 1978 is a SO SEW with no liner. Winfield definitely did a good job.
If I need a new one with original quality I'll get an American made Golden MFG, they're made to proper GOVT spec because they were one of the original suppliers who held a contract till the m65 went out of service in '09.
Honestly, i have the Helikon tex M65 into both black & olive green since years, also the M65 "covert" in black since Fall 2022.
I must say, for the asking price, this jacket doesn't fit the bill, with the M65 name. Yes, it's light. It's kinda nice. But for such a light, thin material...shouldn't cost more than max. 79 EUR. It's a light jacket for fall & spring, i would say. The licensed M65 Helikon is worlds better than this new "covert" jacket.
PS: What sucks most are the fat, big knobs. It takes a time, to open & close them all. Would have prefered a brass zipper, instead of silly, big plastic knobs, i do mean - only a zipper, not these extra knobs. Don't get me wrong - i like my M65 field jacket - but this covert "M65" is more a fashion item, into every way.

Kurtka ciekawa ale dlaczego brak w niej podpinki jak w oryginale? Jak coś robić lepiej to na 100% czyli trzeba było dodać podpinkę z Climshieldu chociaż w opcji

This is not a classic version of the M65 - it's a modern version.

All the features of the m65 are why it is a functional coat for me and not just something my dad was issued by the US ARMY.

You're right, but it's also not marketed as an authentic repro of a US M65. It's a Polish company's take on a "Covert" M-65 style jacket.
If you want a traditional M65, there are plenty out there.

Ash grey is "very nearly almost black", considerably darker than shadow grey. As to the fit, Helikon's "medium" is a little more generous than other brands. Compared to my Surplus M65 it fits more loosely, which gives me a bit of wiggle-room to layer up underneath without constricting movement. It actually feels like a strange mashup of an M65 and a PCS smock in terms of fit-and-finish, and I feel it gives me the best of each one.

Natomiast, jeśli chodzi o ocenę komfortu termicznego to zależy, kto jak odczuwa temperatury, kwestia ubierania się warstwami, czy chociażby to, jak zimna jest zima ;) wszystko to jest kwestia indywidualnej oceny, natomiast z pewnością sama w sobie nie sprawdzi się podczas niskich temperatur tak jak nasza kurtka Level 7, która posiada izolację Climashield.

it has very little to do with m65 jacket. from the material (cheap poliester cotton blend instead of nyco), to the finish touches (what kinda moron though that the canadian button would be an improvement over velcro fastening on the neck or sleeves?).
Someone who doesn't want the noise of velcro for example?
@@DarkFire515 it wasn't an issue in original jackets, it's not an issue with proper army clothing. Yet lack of ability to set it in the way you like is a real issue.
Add to that the lack of bi swing sleeves and you can recognise that this jacket has nothing in common with M65.

Absolutely , the only thing this has in common with an m65 is the stow away hood.
Theres no gusset layer inside, no ratcheting brass zipper, no liner, no fold away cuff flaps, doesn't have the sturdy brass button snaps, or a waist draw string that I could see.
I've got the original m65 my dad was issued in BT at FT Bliss Texas in 1978, as well as the one in woodland camo he was issued around 1986.
I wear the woodland m65 at work in the winter, and the original needs some of the velcro sewn back on but the material is still holding up perfectly.

Love the gear but running scenes of heavily armed civilians exiting vehicles ready for combat is a bit much.
