The majority of shop's and things you can buy in yakuza are actual shops and items in japan. It's a kind of product placement that's actually somewhat natural.
Not only that, but the Don Quijote theme song that plays on loop in the store is real as well. And the alcoholic drinks in the bars are all real brands like Suntory and Yebisu Premium Malt.

He however noticed that where in the game is a regular building, in real life there was a famous strip club, which idk I find hilarious the game had to tone DOWN just how "red light" the "red light district" used to be

kabukicho has not been the "scary place" for like 15 years. so when you went you went through the sanitized and tourist friendly version of what once was a underworld hotbed, the tokyo governor in the early 2000s cleaned up most of it and kicked the underworld out
@@oyveyshalom well, from my personal experience areas in roppongi had some very f'd up criminal shit going on like human traficking and a lot of heavy drug dealing. i wouldn't trust japan's crime figures that include everything like pickpocket stuff and heavy crime in a single statistic. that's not on the same level as forced prostitution, kidnappings, extortion, of tourists especially.

I know you already did Tokyo and Osaka, but can you also see other locations explored in the Yakuza series, like Okinawa, Fukuoka, Sapporo, etc and see how they stack up against their real life counterparts?
if you're going to do a Kamurocho real life comparison, why not use a more modern day Kamurocho like Yakuza 5 instead of using Yakuza 0 which takes place in the 80s?
I think it's still interesting to see a comparison between the two as it retains a lot of the visual elements. Yakuza 5 also came out quite a long time ago now - like I said in the video, I mean to do a modern day comparison with 6 as well :)

West park is based off of Toyama park, and the homeless camps and purgatory in my opinion are representative of Toyama park’s connection with immeasurable human suffering. Toyama park was once the sight of a military academy where it is said that unit 731 would frequently dissect and dump bodies. To this day bones and personal possessions raise from the mud. Some say that at night they can hear disembodied screams of the victims.
When I visited Tokyo we stayed at a hotel for 3 days in Kabukicho. We must hace spent at least a whole day walking around Kabukicho at all hours of the day. When I opened Yakuza 0 for the first time I was dumbstruck.
