As a photographer, seeing that breathtakingly rugged visual texture of his guitar for the first time as it catches the light, was for me just what I'd imagine it felt like when Armstrong first saw the surface of the moon beneath his feet: there's simply nothing, nothing at all on earth that's anything like it.
Hi Eddie, Dave M. here. I lost your e-mail address. I still want to send you some music. I actually have aversion of this tune mapped-out if you want it. If you have the opportunity please, send me an e-mail with your address. Thank you, Dave M.
i mean that's a pretty over used phrase that, while true, doesn't really capture the magic of HOW willie does this. He has a completely different way of expression than other 'soulful' or 'meaningful' players. He doesn't rely on sustain, bending or even vibrato. Not heavily. It is is rhythmic phrasing that is completely unique. It sounds almost 'beginnerish' to an untrained ear, simplistic and choppy with his timing, as though there are many small errors. And to an extent that is a little bit of what is happening. Unlike a beginner noodling their way through, he has a command over his dynamics. The volume and sustain or lack there of. The way he plays both ahead and behind the beat, almost losing it (and kinda doing that a little bit) but catching himself. There is an element of surprise at his own self as well as deliberateness. Combine that with a trebly, cheap sounding guitar that becomes this beautiful tone with its naivety. It's that naivety combined with intention that makes it so incredibly unique. He can barely, just barely play his way through the changes, while never being underequipped or struggling, skipping notes here and there, some intentional some not, catching himself on the right beat when he needs to. He is a real genius and I feel he will be underappreciated for his guitar work until after he passes.
"Nuages" represents the relaxed feeling of the Parisian carefree attitude when strolling on the " Champs Élysées " and stealing a kiss in the shadow of "La Seine". Mr. Willie Nelson shows great mastery of the power of guitar picking and mesmorizing frets. The Highwayman who still gives us melodies to savor and ponder in the cool breeze of a delightful afternoon. Blessings.
true. But since it was written not long before Germany's occupation of Paris, at a time when things already were starting to look and feel quite dark in Europe, you can also get a sense of longing for those times you mention.
Excellent recording of this song!!! Willie and his sister Bobbie along with Raphael brings this song full circle. All blended perfectly in harmony. True artists indeed...
Willie's favorite guitar player is Django Reinhardt and Django wrote this song in Paris during the Nazi occupation. Get the book Django The Life and Music of a Gypsy Legend if you would like to learn about one of the best musicians who ever lived.
Some people say he's a terrible singer and I just want to say say to them "You don't know anything about music". I think this is the only time I ever really want to say this. His styilings and phrasing are masterful.
I was introduced to the music of Django Reinhardt when I was around 8 yrs old.... this song captured my heart .....I fell hard for the gypsy sound and have been a fan since ohhh 1969...or so.....I love the sound Willie gets from Trigger.....as do many of us......
In the 1980's my friend Myron and I would talk about jazz music. My favorite was Charles Mingus and his favorite was Thelonious Monk. But we also liked country music. One day I told him, "There's two concerts in Phoenix this weekend: Willie Nelson and Miles Davis." Miles Davis was also one of my favorites, but he had gotten into the rock music. Myron asked me, "Which concert are you going to?" I said, "Willie Nelson." Myron asked why I picked Willie Nelson. I said, "Because I want to hear some jazz music."
Willie Greetings from Australia .. you have been performing a significant amount of practise to play this famous Django tune Bravo! I guess you may try Minor Swing Next?
Very nice! There is a spesial feeling that gets to me when I listen to this tune... That old guitar of Willie is just right for this one and - me likes - a lot! Thanks for sharing this :)
I don't know about you, but that "cowboy rolled cigarette" or joint Willie lit up at 2:05 adds a bit of panache to the video. The smoke adds to the mystique of "Nuages" (or "clouds") in French.
Only fools think drugs contribute positive only effects on the brain and body! Sadly,, drugs like weed are harmful in several ways,, the smoke is denser than tobacco, which is bad for the inside oxygen receptors which need to be unhindered, in order to bring in fresh oxygen into the entire body. The brain is also slightly starved for oxygen, which contributes to brain cell death, and memory problems develop. The T.H.C. in weed has varying levels of potency,, and cause serious memory problems, among other serious issues!
+Sonny Cannon But Willie has no memory problems. In fact, he seems to have an exceptionally good memory. I´m pretty sure his continuing lung problems (he´s just recently had pneumonia again) is caused by the hot smoke he´s been pumping into his lungs for decades; but Tetrahydrocannabinol isn´t harmful. In many ways, Marijuana is really a medicine: It kills carcinogenic cells (you won´t get cancer) and prevents Alzheimer´s disease. Plus, is calms you down, which erases the stress level, therefore reducing the risk of suffering a heart attack.
This is a privilege, and ennobling: Willie, Country Star, Pop Music Icon, National Treasure, shows, in a non-showbiz setting (essentially), that he is a serious guitarist (which most of his admirers already knew), and he does so by playing Django Reinhardt's signature composition on his guitar, "Trigger," a guitar every bit as iconic as B.B. King's "Lucille."
When l hear your interprétation l am in heaven with django unforgettable forever thanks Willie you are the must perfect player guitare with one great talent and délicatesse ❤❤❤ admiration forever and respect and love for eternity ❤❤❤God bless you of course long long time and more ... thanks for sublime nuage 👍💖💖💖... thoughts sincerely uniques to merveilleuse nelsonfamily 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉billions love to you sweet and quiet life ❤❤❤(2023/06/14) / thanks for this happyness dreaminglove ❤😅

Its a Martin classical. Not meant to be played with a pick. Also he lets his friends carve their names into it. Trigger is well weathered and just like Willie, gets better with age
The best Willie ever played on the guitar! Magnificent! Django would be proud of the American country music king!
What a gorgeously lush rendition of this beautiful piece of music. Willie really knows how to pay his respects!!
Sister Bobby...beautiful
It is not about how fast one can play but, how meaningful one can play--Willie, gets-it!
What a soulful and great presentation.

Django didn't get it ;-)

Great job Willie. Django was listening with a sweet smile!
Excellent recording of this song!!! Willie and his sister Bobbie along with Raphael brings this song full circle. All blended perfectly in harmony. True artists indeed...
Willie and his guitar are one. It's just an extension of his hands. He certainly feels the music as he plays. Wonderful instrumental.
They tried giving him a Martin ( an exact duplicate) as replacement for his aging Trigger but won’t give up this guitar.
Willie's favorite guitar player is Django Reinhardt and Django wrote this song in Paris during the Nazi occupation. Get the book Django The Life and Music of a Gypsy Legend if you would like to learn about one of the best musicians who ever lived.
I wonder if his fame saved him from being deported to the death camps of the SS alongside SO many other Roma and Sinti people.
That is It! Django FOREVER!
It's absolutely mindblowing that Django played this song with only two functional fingers on his fretting hand
Gorgeous, what one needs in the middle of the night.
Good ole Trigger keeps on keeping on. What a distinctive sound that old warhorse of a guitar has.
One great guitar player paying respect to another.
Oh, really love your insight!
Lovely. Most people want to burn on their solo, but Willie will even burn on the pianist’s solo! Bravo Willie, and greetings from New Orleans. ❤️💯💯
Willie phrases guitar just like he sings- beautiful lyrical soloing.
Some people say he's a terrible singer and I just want to say say to them "You don't know anything about music". I think this is the only time I ever really want to say this. His styilings and phrasing are masterful.

Always loved listening to Willie. He just gets better and better...
Did he really light up!?! Oh I love you WIllie.
Oh yes he did.
I'm sure that's just steam from a cup of hot coffee. Yes...totally sure. That's it, of course!
Willie Nelson On Trigger "If there is ever a Guitar with a song in it, it would be that one. (Trigger) " Absolutely agree !
Wonderful version of this song, wooow
I love this Mr. Willie! Finest Kind for sure!
Keep rockin' Willie.
JUST BEAUTIFUL
Love you Willie....you are an inspiration
very beautiful, in it's own way, so sweet and melancholy. reminds me of my youth on the streets of Paris.
Magnifique ! Thank you very much !!!

I got into Django as a teen while discovering new guitarists in my studies. This is just so raw, dark and beautiful.
You want dark Holmes you should translate the lyrics sometime!
Awesome. Willie and Bobbie are perfect on this,(Mickey too)!
Wow i never thought Willie could play guitar this well what a picker
Willie Greetings from Australia .. you have been performing a significant amount of practise to play this famous Django tune Bravo! I guess you may try Minor Swing Next?

Truly awesome!
Django's music never gets old.
Thank you .Great!!
One of the best renditions I've ever heard.
Not really. Many Euro gypsy jazz renditions are superior.
@@salvandorum in what way, exactly?
Agree. And I've heard a lot of Django/Manouche covers.

Panache? Hardly, but his chronic habit has certainly contributed to his very aged skin.
+Robert Bright and the fact that he's 83 years old

Funny thing about Django and Nuages - it may very well be one of the first famous stoner songs.
LOVE !!!!!!!!!!!!!
worlds best guitarist

Trigger still sounds fucking great, talk about Martin guitars
Willie, Django,Gipsy, all begin in the lost tribe of Israel looking for the way home 🤔
I love trigger's sound. Makes me want to punch a hole in my soundboard.
Sorry. Ya'll gotta wear it through nat'ral-like over mutliple decades. Then it sounds right.
AWESOME ((^_^))
Love the guitar but the piano solo? Maybe family and you could say "not bad for country artists" but....
I like the simplicity of it
