    I'm about to purchase 2 Rode Wireless Go sets. And am deciding on what lavalier mics to get. Rode has a Lavalier Lapel mic that is priced around $250USD. Oddly there is very little info online that I can find about this mic, and what is available is about 9 or 10 years old.
    The Lavalier Go is the newer tech I'm assuming, how does this compare to the Lavalier Lapel mic build and sound quality wise?

    • @rodemic
      @rodemic  4 роки тому +1

      Hey Andrew, I would recommend using the Lavalier GO with your Wireless GO. Both will provide great audio quality, however the Lavalier is designed more to be used with the Filmmaker Kit, and other third party wireless transmission kits. The Lavalier GO will be perfect with the Wireless GO.

I want to Run an Aux Send from my mixer into the mic input of the transmitter and wirelessly send the signal to the receiver which will be connected to an iPhone running a Facebook-Live session. Not as it comes out of the box... This lavalier's plug is a male TRS and most of the Macintoshes (and smartphones) have a female TRRS headphone jack. You can buy the RODE SC-4 adapter that takes the TRS into it and has a TRRS male to match the MAC. The other option is the SmartLav+ which is essentially the same specification microphone with the TRRS plug so no adapter needed.

    Hi, just got mine and it works quite well when plugged directly into my camera's mic input, however, when I try to connect to a portable recorder such as the zoom h4n pro, it tends to not work at all. I have to ramp up the recorders mic input sensitivity up to full to even get any form of sound out of the microphone. Problem with that is of course that the noise is far too high and the audio then becomes unusable. I would appreciate any kind of help, since I'd really like to use it with the portable recorder.

    • @CaliforniaTravelVideos
      @CaliforniaTravelVideos 2 роки тому

      Actually, for many you bring up a good point. Many mics adhere to the P48 standard which permits a maximum of device power of 240 mW. Yet some devices provide 12 volt, 24 volt or 48 volt phantom power. For sure, dynamic and condenser mics have different power requirements (dynamic mics do not require power) and ribbon mics will be destroyed with any voltage applied.
      Okay, to start this Rode mic is a (permanently polarized) condenser mic so your device must provide it at least SOME power (voltage). Searching around, I see that the similar Rode SmartLav+ (which differs with its TRRS Apple-type connector) is designed to work with 2.7 volts (Rode sells a VXLR+ for those using a XLR cable with 12-48 volt phantom power, which in addition to changing the connector from XLR to 3.5mm female TRS, also reduces the voltage to a more appropriate 3.5-4.0 volts). Anyway, even if your device only puts out 1.0 volts, this mic should work okay and Rode says it was designed to run on 2.7 volts, so you certainly would not want to use a XLR 48 volt phantom power source with an XLR adapter unless it has a resistor network built in (like the Rode VXLR+) to drop the voltage to a more manageable voltage. I'd guess that the mic would work fine with a 5 volt PoE source.
      Anyone still here? And don't ask me how I got sucked into giving this long response... much be for the love cause it ain't for the money!

    Great for all the countries that have the RODE Wireless Go on sale, but absolutely pointless for Japan where the Wireless Go is as about as real a thing as a UFO. I really don't understand why RODE cannot get sales/customer service in Japan on a par with other countries or even on a par with the quality of your products. I understand that the incredibly slow machinery of the Japanese bureaucracy and regulations could quite possibly be the reason for the delay and whilst they go through their due process are effectively holding up the approval of this product for sale in Japan, but I cannot be sure as your Japan FB team refuse to answer anybody's questions as to why or when we are likely to see it. I am fully aware that we could order this product from such places as B&H in the USA, but as a professional cinematographer this is more of a 'nice/useful to have' piece of gear, rather than a necessity so I am not prepared in this case to pay expensive shipping from the USA for the Wireless Go.
