As the writer, I cannot tell you how wonderful it is to hear you say that. Congratulations. I'm overjoyed that this piece spoke to you. And that you and your old penpal are together now.
This is my first ever comment about one of these shorts. I don't have someone from the past that I dream about. However, I'm divorcing my wife of 20 years. I never felt loved for who I am but stayed in the marriage this long for the sake of my children, as I wanted to have an influence in their lives and them to be old enough to understand that I didn't abandon them. I'm already wishing that I find someone who loves me and I can spend with, at least, some of the 20 odd years that I should have left in my life. This short hit me hard. The main thing that made me emotional is that I can't imagine not be able to make some of my wants happen even if it's in a dream. Damn, I'm more emotional typing this than when I watched the video. That gives you an idea how lasting an impression it had on me. Sorry for the long post, mainly about myself, but you get an idea how good I think it is. Kudos to all involved.
A tiny seed of a smile remarkably grew into full blown happiness on Momo’s face to open this movie, and laughter and tears of disbelief and wonder ended it on Lenny’s face. All the actors were so gifted. And every other element from the directing to the music to the lighting and the script was beautiful. I really appreciate the supportive comments too. So nice to see such a beautiful movie so well received. We all like To have our hearts cracked open once in a while, don’t we?
There's nothing more powerful than love and if you want to see an elderly man or woman cry there's two things you can do. 1. Show this to him or her. 2. Tell him or her you love them. If he or she isn't expected to either leave the hospital or hospice when you tell him or her you love them they'll start crying tears of joy. This is a wonderful beautiful work of art and poetry in motion well done and great work to the crew and cast who made this possible.
This was a beautiful short film. one of the best romantic emotional shorts I have ever seen beside best animation love stories. This is my 5th live-action short film about love. I hope love comes knocking on my door someday. Thank you all who made this short, this was truly beautiful.
Had I the heavens’ embroidered cloths, Enwrought with golden and silver light, The blue and the dim and the dark cloths Of night and light and the half-light, I would spread the cloths under your feet: But I, being poor, have only my dreams; I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly because you tread on my dreams. William Butler Yeats
I had an aunt who was pursued by 2 guys in high school, back in the late 1940's she went for the better looking of the 2 and eventually married him, only thing was he knew he was good looking & alot of other women thought so too. So after having 3 kids right in a row, he ran off with a bar maid one night, left my aunt to raise my 3 cousins all by herself. Not an easy task in 1955. Fast forward to early 1980's and while grocery shopping one day, she ran into sweetheart number 2 who lost out so many yrs ago. He was now widowed after a 30 yr navel career. She realizing the mistake she'd made so many yrs ago, readily accepted a dinner date. Well they got together and married and she was just so happy after so many yrs of headaches. But then she got breast cancer4 yrs later & past away after only 5&1/2 yrs with the man she should have married in the first place. I glad they had those few yrs of happiness together.
The great thing about these short films is that a filmmaker can create a beautiful piece of work like this with lovely music to accompany it. And it's just the right length to leave a heartwarming imprint on the viewer. It didn't have to be any longer. It was just right.
I wanted to see them leave the place at the same time, through different exits, of course, and to see each other after rounding a corner of a building. Alas, it was not to be, but I still enjoyed this tale. Thank you 🙇🏽♂️
I wanted to say that the photography was wonderfully orchestrated and that the music was so well produced. I wanted to say how believable the actors were. I wanted to praise the slow pace of a beautiful simple story well told. I wanted to but I'm crying tears of joy for the main characters and that they might unite in the future. I fell in love with their faces and their beautiful struggle to take a leap of faith. This film moved me in ways I havent felt since before the pandemic started. Thank you. Its beautiful.
I don't usually say this to describe a movie short but this was beautiful and heartwarming. The actors were so good that I wanted to see them meet after they came out of their dream state. Again a beautiful story.
I have to say that the ending was predictable. When they both went to Sandman Corp I knew they were going to make a personal connection with each other. When they exchanged those gifts I knew that the necklace and the bracelet were going to transition from their dreams to reality. I knew this with certainty! So imagine my surprise when my expectations came to pass exactly as I foresaw them and I found myself weeping. They were tears of joy for Izumi and Alex for having transcended the government restrictions on dreaming and the laws of physical reality and actually finding each other. I cried my eyes out for the last full minute of this movie. My wife thought I was crazy. Maybe I was. Maybe I still am. Worth it!
I have to say that comments like yours are predictable. If I had a Bitcoin for every comment that mentions tears and weeping I'd be a millionaire. But instead I come off as a jerk for saying your comment is predictable. Get it? Glad you enjoyed the video. But Saying the end is predictable makes the creators feel how you feel reading my comment. PS. I Wrote this after wiping away my tears after that emotional ending. Hard not to weep at their love. ... That's 2 more bitcoins for me! 😂
@@lillyanneserrelio2187 I didn't mean to be critical, if that's how you took it. I intended my meaning to be construed as a compliment. Even though I thought I knew how the film would end, and even though it ended exactly as I predicted it would, it was so well done that I achieved an emotional reaction anyway. This is, to me anyway (maybe I am wrong), saying kudos to the actors, director, and crew for putting it together so well that I got what they intended. Honestly, most of the time if I see the events in the film unfolding as I predict, I don't get bored. I LOVE a plot twist that I never see coming, but even more I love seeing how the plot gets from one point to another. I also love movies based on books with which I am already familiar. LotR, Harry Potter, Dune ... I have read them all, often decades before the movies are made. But I still enjoy the movies.
While dropping by to watch one or more loved sci-fi DUST uploads, what I had not prepared for is to be covered in tears. Beautifully done. I love how the two main actors were playing their roles with compassion and with care. 😢🥰🌺
A beautiful film all around. Sometimes I think it would be nice to relive some times past. Not sure I'd want to if I had to come back to reality. Why relive something that ended in sorrow and tragedy? Something lost and can't be regained except for a short time. But then, some would no doubt want to just once more to know the joy and happiness, if only for a short time. Very well done.
Now that's a really nice kiss the way she closes her eyes and raises her head to help him find her lips and the way he keeps his eyes open to find his way and then opens his mouth a second or two before he touches hers. So tender. The angle of the camera was perfect.
This was a beautiful story. I saw it a weird but as stated beautiful cross between Total Recall and The Lakehouse. This better than both combined. And believe me when I say that is saying way more than you might think.
What if what we think of as real life - is the illusion of the dull dream that we are placed into so that we can then have dreams - which are the real reason we are here - so that while we are having all the different dreams in all the different universes and dimensions, we are actually doing more work for the spiritual side to whatever wisdom the soulmate within this physical being requires in the premise of eternity - now people can have all kinds of lives in the day to day dimension of what we believe to be our life - but I think we can all agree that in dreams there are a zillion variations of themes that we can experience and do - and why is it that sleep is so powerful a narcotic that without it we die - and even when people are in situations where going to sleep will surely lead to death - they will still go to sleep - as if the sleep is more important than the life that the sleep is taking place by way of. we all had those dreams where we realize the dream is a terror and what a relief to wake up - and then other times - we are filled with sorrow when we wake up from something so beautiful we know we can never experience it in physical life - and why is it that no matter how weird a dream is we accept it as normal - like weird beings or flying or space ships - or strange strange situations - meanwhile the waking life is at times a chore - the answers all known - the outcome predictable - the people around us boring or snarky - but only in rare cases do we live in the same dream more than once - and those times are more like premonitions or warnings - ---- anyway good actors here that made happiness and love feel real to the characters - I liked it
Best 'why do we dream' theory i heard was that it was to stop the optical part of brain being reused for something else, cos brain plasticity starts within 10s of minutes. Tis one of many reasons for dreams of course as little if anything evolves due to one cause
I shouldn't watch these sad stories.. its hard enough with my own past that i still cant let go of. My heart is still there.. more than 25 yrs.. in my dreams, they r still so vivid.. my heart is still wounded..
Well all dream like this. It's funny to me how the things we think are private and one-sided are really not. Yet no matter how hard we try ... yeah, life's funny. Great movie. Not all that much was really spoken yet so much was said!
I loved everything, the acting, the practical and visual effects, the locations, the emotions gained from the jewelry swap. But at the same time, I hated the fact that the jewelry switch was impossible unless magic was involved and the government banning dreams doesn't seem like it would ever serve a purpose. I know with these things you have to sometimes suspend your disbelief for the message, but I would have loved it if they could ground the ban and swap in science instead of adding in magic. However, bravo I want to see more.

Only thing I didn't get was why they couldn't get together in real life ?
I love the music at the end. Is that available anywhere?
Beautiful. This had extra meaning for me because after 35 years I found my childhood penpal again and we are now a happy couple together.
As the writer, I cannot tell you how wonderful it is to hear you say that. Congratulations. I'm overjoyed that this piece spoke to you. And that you and your old penpal are together now.

A bittersweet but happy and romantic ending. A real delight, when so many DUST entries are Post-apocolyptic doom and gloom stories.

Wow…this was so well made, incredibly well acted. I felt like I was part of the story because of the emotional empathy I felt
I promise it’s just something in my eye.. 😭 😭 😭 my goodness this was so beautiful.
Same here, must be Dusty.
But yes, so lovely.
Must be pollen.
It's a DUST in your eye !

I really enjoyed this simple film, it carried a lot of good feels in it. This is a tear on my cheek, it must have fell on me from the ceiling!

I love this short movie! Sometimes, I wish they were there was more time so I can immerse myself into this heart warming fantasy a little longer.
Beautiful story! Great writing, acting directing, lighting, the whole film!!
That 1 actress (spaniard?) Really impressed me. Such a natural!
Her name is Silvana González. She's from Mexico, and she's very, very talented. You should definitely check her other work out.
BEAUTIFUL! 👍👍👍
Another home run for DUST. What's the word for it....oh, yes. Originality.
That almost made me cry...
That was beautiful!
Wow, I didn't see that coming. Super well done folks. The music during the dream sequence totally completed the picture.
What kind of mind blowing experience is that.... Future can be brutal but life is once. ❤️
Crying. So pure and beautiful. My heart is full.
Just beautiful. It made my heart glow with happiness.
Just a beautiful short to realize or to remember what really is important in this existence we know as life. Well done and thank you !

Beautiful and romantic. Anyone who isn't moved by this is dead inside. Honestly, this little film is a precious gift in these times.
That is beautiful 😍.
A much more peaceful Sandman than in a certain Metallica song.
I'm glad this is based on a true story.
Such a stunning, and moving, film, on so many levels, from the story and screenplay to the performances and production.

Very sweet, and something I'd love to have.

You can’t suppress dreams, if “reality” itself is a dream.
This was a concept that sounds a lot like "PRECURSOR: Perceptions of Time", which was written years ago.
Very sweet.
you can't relive a moment without a filter of a frailty in angst to repeat.
. . ..but i did really like this short. Thanx
Beautiful, Dust. I'm not crying, you're crying! 😢😘
I just sometimes don’t get the motive of all this...
as always, amazing
