Great explanation for us newbies. Went and bought a multi meter, followed your instructions and found the part where the electricity made it to. Replaced and everything is now working. Thank you so much!

Its always a pleasure to watch viddys where the narrator knows what he/she is talking about! Thank you kindly for making life a little more bearable. Your work and the knowledge you share is priceless. If this germ warfare BS ever goes away and I can escape our 'prison' to visit WA, I'll be sure to look you up and buy you a beer or a steak or something.. Cheers! from Vancouver Island.

Darren, thanks for making your videos! I applied your techniques for continuity testing and voltage testing on my troubled 12v circuit. I "followed the 12v trail" and found my low voltage issue! Lose screw on the 12 volt punch down screw in the panel! Saved me money and I learned something along the way! Thanks again Darren!

You're the best! After 1 hour of trying to figure out why my furnace wasn't working I went and messed with the same button on my teardrop and it fires right up! 🔥

Great video and perfect explanation, but I still can’t find my DC power going to my thermostat on my Colman mach lol 😂. The wires are in back wall and furnace inside an area where you can’t get your hands in. Much less check wires

Thanks for your video, very helpful. I have been to several rv mechanics. My batteries are swelling and getting hot so I will replace and check converter. Also the other previous situation that I still have is, when I turn off the coach engine, within about 3 to 5 minutes the generator starts up and will not shut off until I manually shut it off. Then it will remain off. Any idea on that situation? Thank you,

Hi Darren, trying to change a Coleman Mach analog stat with a Honeywell digital. Got heat to work but can't get a/c going. Doing everything you're doing but according to ten diverging 'opinions' on the subject of the wiring compatibility, I have lost my mind. Honeywell's manual is like a puzzle with several pieces missing.
Just trying to determine if the a/c is taking a siesta or the Honey--not--well is the culprit. Guess I have to start at ground zero and hopefully find the issue. Any advice? Thank you.
Oh, I may have committed sacrilege when I was cleaning coils with a pressure washer. But, the unit did work after my assault. But at that time I was changing out the stat with one that could keep coach just above freezing: circa 40°-ish. Again, heat worked with only four wires, but alas, no a/c.

Is the comms supposed to be getting 12v also, so to my understanding the 12+ and and the comms on the thermostat terminal both get full 12 volts?

I find this video helpful, but I have a question. My dometic thermostat is not turning on so I am using your video for help. I tested the first spot which was inside the thermostat and i got a reading of 13.0v. Does this mean i need to replace my thermostat? Thank you!

I have a dou therm 5 button 2 ACs. While on the heat pump, the front ac works good until the fan goes off, but the compressor continues to run. I can turn it off at the thermostat. What could cause the compressor to continue to run. I thinking relaying the control board. Down in Florida

Hello from Canada EH lol. Love watching your videos. You said you tried fixing the plunger switch did you use any type of lubricant? And if you did what lubricant would you recommend to use on 12 volt motors that is electrical friendly?

    • @MyRVWorks

I will usually spray those down with CRC electronic cleaner while I am exercising that switch. After that I might hit it with some of that office canned air to dry them out. Sometimes that will do the trick. Where in Canada are you at EH.

Not bad troubling shooting but in your video, you are testing for voltage across 12-volt negative terminal and the communication terminal. Dometic three wire thermo - left terminal is 12-volt neg, center is communication, right terminal is 12-volt positive. Checking for ground (negative) from receptacle ground pin and 12-volt negative you would get no voltage - same potential. Check in OHMs would have told you, you have a good ground (negative 12-volt to ground). For me, then I would have started from the fuse (positive) out.
Don't mean to be critical, just like to see accuracy.

I would basically follow the trail, that's the strategy I use on most of these things. I had no idea on that video that there were switches that disabled the whole circuit when the roof closed down. But by following the trail that's where it led me.

Would you happen to know why my furnace sometimes does not turn on? I watched all your furnace videos but non of them show the same symptom as mine. When my thermostat clicks inside the rv I usually hear the furnace kick on after that but now i can only hear a single click from the furnace . This is the funny part, if I give it a light tap on the side of the furnace it will then turn on. Any idea what cause it to turn on after a light tap on the side?
