What I loved from the get go: Jen talked about her responsibilities in service. She did not talk about being a 'leader'. She spoke like a true mature servant of our Lord. Oh that all who serve the church would have this spirit.
This was great. A very important reminder to know, understand, and apply the word of God daily in our lives. "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." 2 Timothy 2:15
2nd comment: on students and scripture. I drew the analogy to my pastor: 'I got to the end of high school and I'd been exposed to the thoughts of some of the greatest minds that have ever lived in literature, maths, science, engineering, art. I've had to read their actual words, their novels, plays, mathematical proofs. I had participated in the greatest that Western culture had produced. At the same age I got to the end of youth group. Guess what I learnt? How to play mini-golf!' But, OTOH, by the end of high school every Christian should have read the entire Bible.
Wonderful Bible teaching that can be done by anyone who will spend TIME in the Word of God. Thanks Jen!
