‘96 is the best year for MIM strats, lots of reasons for it but mainly production had restarted in Mexico in new plant after the old one burnt down a couple years earlier. Lots of new machines, patterns, templates, parts, top managers sent down from Fender Corona, CA. So 96 strats very good details and QC, closer to Corona Strats. So I do kinda hate to see a great ‘96MIM Strat get parted out, value is going up on the 96’s. I have a ‘96 MIM all stock, incredible-playing guitar, neck is amazing. I’m searching for another 96 to modify pups and wiring, so I’d settle for a body/neck/stock trem if I can find one somewhere.
Would you be able to convert this 96 MIM to an HSS without taking a Dremel to the bridge pickup hole? It looks like it would fit an humbuck no problem?
I also have different screws on both sides of the bridge. Seems like its sopose to be that way. I olaso have an anniversary sticker on the back of the headstock. These are GREAT guitars!!
Who cares? Original condition is for dorks. You’d hate my american standard strats. Neither one is close to “original” condition. One of them was converted left and back, i don’t care
is it a matallic finish? id be interested to know how many metallic flecks there are in the paint job....that is what i searched, isnt it? oh, no, wait...i searched how to dismantle a strat & im half way thru & its just jibber jabber....fuck this, im out.
Interesting, I’ve only seen that one time, but this is the only ‘90s MIM I’ve dealt with recently. I am trying to get my hands on another early MIM soon. Thanks for the comment.
Nice video! I have 96 so this info is very useful!
Great to hear!
At the end of the day, they're all partscasters. It was Leo's idea!😉
Certainly! Someone out there needs parts, I need parts, and we all get a video. :)

Thanks for watching and I appreciate the comment.
I agree, 96 was a solid year for MIM strats. The Tex Mex strats of 1996 in particular were so nice
Everybody says a different mim guitar year as the best mim guitars 😂

Yes, provided the mounting tabs weren’t overly deep.

Yes, ‘96 is the anniversary year.
I have a 96 too and mine has the same different screws near the bridge
Nice job! I just bought one. Same color. Do you happen to know the name of the color?
I’ve heard it called blue agave. Seems a bit lighter than lake placid blue.
Well it definitely looks like everything is in pretty good condition, I'm sure you won't have trouble finding buyers for all those.
It’s pretty good, minor fret wear and some cosmetic flaws. I’ve got some uses for some of these parts myself.
How much more is a '97 MIM strat worth in pieces?
Depends on the pieces, but about 20 percent, give or take.
You get a thumbs down for parting out a perfectly good guitar in original condition so that somebody can make a crappy partscaster.
I’ll take it, but it’s an economic decision, and lots of good does come from it.

To be clear, jibber, jabber, jibber, jabber... no idea. Thanks for the comment.
Does the term MODULAR mean anything
Of course, why do you ask?
I have 3 1990's MIN Strats, they all have oversized pickguard screws by the tremolo,non-threaded at the top half
