Even though I did not buy my car here Conner took my call and tried to help me with my Remote Start for my New 2018 Sedona when my local dealership was having some issue programming my remote start to my FOB. It would be nice if just one dealer video showed how to start it with the remote and what you are supposed to do to keep it started after getting in the car!
I was told that it didn't have a car starter, but just found out that besides all the cool options that my Kia already has that it does have one and realized by pressing buttons by mistake. This car is sooo Amazing. Thanks to this video I was able to figure how I did this in the first place.
My wife and I decided to try this and like a few other viewers mentioned, it will start the engine but the horn will go off several times before it does and this is not something that we want to happen early in the morning because it will wake up out neighbors. When we bought the vehicle, a 2017 kia Sorento, we were given two sets of keys and I kept the one without the remote start fob. Since we now know that Kia doesn't know how to properly make remote start fobs without causing the horn to go off, I will just give my wife my key so she can start the vehicle up and lock the door until it warms up and then she can use the extra key to get in the vehicle since I drive a different car. Our Kia Sorento is doing well and we are not going to let this one fatal flaw ruin our experience. We just need to realize that Kia is not capable of making remote key fobs work correctly without waking up the neighbors in the morning. We will probably just throw the remote key fob away since it doesn't work correctly.

How do I know if the vehicle has the auto start option. We have the key that look like the white vehicle you demo. We do the same thing and it shows the lights on the vehicle but it doesn’t start. Should we assume it doesn’t have the auto start ?

They can't add it to you current key fob, they'd give you the small black one. I got a quote today for $450 for the remote and ch charge $120 for a total of $570 @.@

My 2015 Sorento SXL limited has the Kia branded remote start but the fob looks more like a triangle and has just a single red light. Is there a different button sequence for my version? The trick you show above doesn’t do anything.
unfortunately, my european version of optima (11/2014 1.7crdi XXL) does not remotely start the engine like this. is there another buttons combination ? Does this car not have this function? Can I install something?

I've been looking for an answer to this as well. The manual says you unlock the door by pressing the button twice and get in the car, but for me it always shuts the engine off as soon as I open the door.

Angie, it certainly is possible that you could find someone to install an aftermarket, 3rd Party Remote Start system to the Cadenza but there is not a Kia Genuine system that can be added. Installing an aftermarket remote start could impact the push button start, it could void any remaining warranty if applicable and it could create various issues not mentioned already. Hyundai /Kia optional remote start are competitively priced in my opinion and gives a peace of mind that system was built to work with that vehicle plus they have very decent range.. they sell two way remote package which comfirms if the vehicle starts if it's out of sight..
I've been wondering the same thing. My last Kia came with a factory car starter that ran 15 mins. My new Kia also came with a factory installed car started, but it only runs 10 mins. I have been trying to find a way to lengthen the time to 15 mins like my old Kia.
I just purchased a 2018 Sorento and according to the original window sticker remote start was added to the vehicle. I don't have the small remote but I do have the primary remote. I tried doing the lock and trunk buttons but nothing. Is there something else that needs to be done? Better to go to a local dealer and have them check it?
So Conner I bought a 2021 Kia Seltos and I have that small remote starter after 10 minutes of running the car shuts off and the horn goes off for about 4 seconds. Not a good thing in a neighborhood at 6:20 in the morning. Anyway to bypass the horn???
Congrats! If your Sorento has Remote Start you may have an extra FOB, if you do not have remote start none of this will work of course. We cannot tell how your vehicle is equipped based on what we know at this time
I have 2019 kia stinger. it has the smart key option. My issue isn't how to remote start . My issue is i start my car. when i approach it, i unlock the car. The moment i open the door, the Car turns off. I then have to enter the vehicle . and turn it back on regular. How do i keep the car on so it knows i have arrived with the key and it lets me just start driving. Yes i have the key on me when the car shuts off
Hi I have a Toyota Prius that does the same thing. It’s a safety issue my dealer said that’s why it turns off when you get into the car. The vehicle needs to send the key with you so it knows that no one is stealing the car. That’s what my dealership told me. I hope this helps you.
Our parts department said this was a "split year" so some Optimas were remote start capable and some were not. We recommend you get in touch with your local Kia Dealership, provide them with your vehicle's VIN and they can let you know if your Optima is capable with remote start.
I have a 2019 Optima S and I did not get the remote start fob, but it does remote start from the Kia App. The lock + trunk button does not work to remote start it. Can I get a new remote start fob made or will it only remote start from the App?
Difficult to understand why the 2 fobs but obviously the small fob is for vehicles WITH remote start that DON'T have the smart key option. They just include the small fob in addition to the smart key because it comes with the remote start option whether you have the smart key option or not.

McGrath Auto This may sound like a silly question, but you have to have the key start installed in the car for it to work with the key fob? How does it work with the factory key fob? I just got a 2020 KIA Sportage SX Turbo.
Generally it requires factory remote start with the proper second remote etc. We are not familiar with the ProCeed here in the states but imagine it is the same technology and may be difficult to add to a vehicle that does not have it from the factory. Thank you for checking out our video!
@@MNM2884nick what settings? How do you change the settings? I even took it to the dealer to have the sales guy show me and he did the same thing I did and it turned off. He said you should be able to start it with both my remotes the engine start/stop remote by pressing it 3 times fast then you should be able to start it by the regular key fob by pressing the lock and trunk button at the same time or something like that and then you get in the car and depress the brake and press the start button and it should stay started, but it turns off.
@@erincockerham4796 is there an anti theif setting in your car? Turn that off, because what is happening is the anti theift feature is working to prevent your car from being stolen.
@@MNM2884nick I have a 2015 Kia Optima EX GDI and yes I have a security system in the car. I don't know how to turn that off and why would I have to turn that off in order to use my remote start? The dealer showed me how to do it, but when he did it out turned off as well and he said he'd never seen any of the other kias do that.

The dealer said that it does not have remote start, but he was in error... you CAN start the car remotely if you use the absurdly expensive UVO app.. UVO is VERY expensive, especially on a retiree's fixed budget, thus, I will not have access to UVO after the one year freebie is done. So I am surmising that if the car can be started remotely via an app, it should be able to be started using some key fob combination.

You never mentioned anything that the dealer was not correct and that you do have remote start with UVO system. So instead of coming at me like I'm the idiot, why don't you explain yourself correctly and then maybe people will understand what you are trying to say??
@@akronhockey also just because you can remote start your car with the UVO app doesn't mean it should be able to start with the remote as well. Systems are set up differently all the time and it could be that you can only remote start with the app. You can however find deals after your year is up on your UVO subscription and also talk with the company and they will work deals with you. They really are a good company and don't like to lose their customers. It's just like SiriusXM, they work with you as well.

Push your start button when you get in before doing anything else. That takes it from idle to engine start. See if that works and let us know!

That should be all you need to do, there is no type of activation process needed.

Hi Crystal! If the remote start wasn't manufacturer installed, we don't think the remote would work this way.

It still isn't working. Pushing the remote start once locks it but pushing and holding it does nothing

Our parts department said this was a "split year" so some Optimas were remote start capable and some were not. We recommend you get in touch with your local Kia Dealership, provide them with your vehicle's VIN and they can let you know if your Optima is capable with remote start.
Does the 2020 kia soul has the remote start trick? Like the sorento at the end of your video?
Give it a shot and see if it works, that will tell you if it is equipped with it

I have a 2019 Optima S and I did not get the remote start fob, but it does remote start from the Kia App. The lock + trunk button does not work to remote start it. Can I get a new remote start fob made or will it only remote start from the App?
Difficult to understand why the 2 fobs but obviously the small fob is for vehicles WITH remote start that DON'T have the smart key option. They just include the small fob in addition to the smart key because it comes with the remote start option whether you have the smart key option or not.

Generally it requires factory remote start with the proper second remote etc. We are not familiar with the ProCeed here in the states but imagine it is the same technology and may be difficult to add to a vehicle that does not have it from the factory. Thank you for checking out our video!

No Toyota did it for the 2014 Camry i know that for a fact. You needed a separate fob to remote start the vehicle.

I try the trick you showed, and my lights flash but the car never started. 2012 Kia Sportage sx turbo.
Does it have factory remote start on the vehicle? If not this will not work
How do you keep it started because every time I try this and I get in and close the door the car turns off.

@@MNM2884nick what settings? How do you change the settings? I even took it to the dealer to have the sales guy show me and he did the same thing I did and it turned off. He said you should be able to start it with both my remotes the engine start/stop remote by pressing it 3 times fast then you should be able to start it by the regular key fob by pressing the lock and trunk button at the same time or something like that and then you get in the car and depress the brake and press the start button and it should stay started, but it turns off.
@@erincockerham4796 is there an anti theif setting in your car? Turn that off, because what is happening is the anti theift feature is working to prevent your car from being stolen.

@@MNM2884nick I have a 2015 Kia Optima EX GDI and yes I have a security system in the car. I don't know how to turn that off and why would I have to turn that off in order to use my remote start? The dealer showed me how to do it, but when he did it out turned off as well and he said he'd never seen any of the other kias do that.

It's not remote start obviously if the dealer stated that it wasn't remote start.
@@erincockerham4796 LOL.. Erin, you know not of what you speak... The dealer said that it does not have remote start, but he was in error... you CAN start the car remotely if you use the absurdly expensive UVO app.. UVO is VERY expensive, especially on a retiree's fixed budget, thus, I will not have access to UVO after the one year freebie is done. So I am surmising that if the car can be started remotely via an app, it should be able to be started using some key fob combination.

You never mentioned anything that the dealer was not correct and that you do have remote start with UVO system. So instead of coming at me like I'm the idiot, why don't you explain yourself correctly and then maybe people will understand what you are trying to say??
@@akronhockey also just because you can remote start your car with the UVO app doesn't mean it should be able to start with the remote as well. Systems are set up differently all the time and it could be that you can only remote start with the app. You can however find deals after your year is up on your UVO subscription and also talk with the company and they will work deals with you. They really are a good company and don't like to lose their customers. It's just like SiriusXM, they work with you as well.

No. The clutch needs to be activated to start the car
