Loving your videos on the TDI! Love what you've done with it too.
I have a MK6 and have just started modifying it; Got a Superpro sway bar kit, new Exedy clutch and DMF, racingline intake, and installing a Bilstein B16 (PSS10) coilover kit this month. Haven't started on any power mods yet, just fixing up everything that needed doing first.
That’s awesome dude! Sounds like it’s on its way to being a fun build!!
I've got a 2013 Passat 2.0 TDI. Tuned and deleted, drive it like an old lady, 1300 KMS per tank. Almost 200HP and almost 300 LB FT
Heck yah, that mileage is impressive, wish mine got that kinda mileage with these mods haha
Unless you have a 70L tank on your passat you'll make 1300km on a full tank. Dosnt matter what you say. I got a mk6 jetta fully delete and tuned and the most i got in hwy is 980km driving like a grandma 98km hr
@@marin0ujka Yes Sir 70L tank I have.
Was it worth the tune? I have a 2012 and was wondering how quick it really makes it?
the main thing with fuel is just making sure to go to a gas station that gets a lot of people buying diesel. the tanks in the ground stay cleaner if the fuel is constantly changing vs some gas stations that get almost no traffic on the diesel pump their tanks end up with water and slime in them
Love my 13’ Jetta 6spd has 152,000 miles on it. Been super reliable as I always ran Amsoil for fluids and Archoil for fuel additive. Have S&B intake, Kerma tdi tune, sigma6 short shifter, Banks catback exhaust, and TSW wheels. Thing is amazing on fuel when Im easy on it 48 mpg average and best was 58 mpg. Gets 30 mpg at 100 mph and 19-20 mpg at 125 mph thing is pretty amazing. Towed a 1200 lb trailer as well had no problem at 75 mph and in 6th gear!! In gonna drive this car as long as I can 👍
I love my 14 wagon. Just got my dpf and egr replace 12 days before warranty ended. Sadly VT inspection laws restrict me from deleting, but the kerma tune is pretty fun
Love my MK6 Jetta TDi, hasn't had a single issue in the three years and it is good fun. Def want to start putting some work into it soon.
Happy owner of a mk6 2.0 TDI GT :) factory lowered by 15mm, 320nm and 140 ponies. No mods but still pulls very well.
I have one of these, it's so good on fuel I forget the last time I hit the gas station
I get 30ish city and 39 highway. By far the most efficient to fun ratio car I’ve had. Too bad it’s a jetta and not a GTD, but it is stick shift which ads to the fun factor
@@ziadajam5433 39 highway? You should be hitting 43 minimum. Its winter here so its snowing a lot but I still get 43-50. Just depends in how I drive.
Love the positive check list!
the nice thing about the exhaust on the 2015 even post fix is really well designed and with kermas emissions compliant tune its really not an issue till you start going to a bigger turbo
My mk5 cjaa 2010 stage 2 did 164whp/295wqt at the dyno. Now it's Xman cr170 hybrid and 4 bar map around 200whp/330wtq is a plug and play turbo. Ordered a cp3 because the cp4 can't keep up with the turbo it goes into limp mode. Will add meth next year it adds more or less 10hp/15tq at the engine and lower the egt.
Ty, you mentioned checking compression using VCDS. I've done some searching, and there isn't much out there. I don't have VCDS, I have OBD11, but I would imagine it is a measure block. If you could point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it. BTW, I love your content! I have an A3 TDI, so I've been watching for since you had the A3. I'm looking forward to more TDI content. Thanks.
Hey Justin, I will do some digging in the AM and see what I can find - sorry for the late reply!
Did you ever find anything on this? Going to look at some TDI's and to be able to check compression and rail pressure would be awesome.@@ThatGuyTyy
@@bigwinke I think I found it in this video. ua-cam.com/video/nWVOxD6277I/v-deo.html I'm going to try it this weekend on my CBEA 2.0 TDI and let you know how it went. Would be interested to see your results as well.
In EU you can get 2.0tdi 103kw with 4motion and 6speed manual and it can even have R-line trim from factory with projector headlights and led gti style taillights. Imo thats the best of the best combo you can get lol.
Can we get a video of some pulls with the car? :)
Have you ever heard about polarfis??
By the way beautiful golf👍 for the diff problem you can activate "electronic differential" with obd eleven, it's not like have a good diff but uses abs to brake the tire that spin... Work decent, better than nothing
Still waiting for some rips around I'd really like to see some tacho pull do some video please 🥺
Can this be done with vcds?
@@MrAshrr213sure but I don't know channel ecc on vcds for doing that thing, i knew that in has 3 setting soft, medium and hard i put mine in medium but on wet roads with big brakes it's no good but on exit of turn in dry condition it's amazing
I will have to look into it more
I will definitely look into and get some POV driving soon brother!
i have a 2011 tdi golf 2 door, watching your videos has given me some hope in building it some day. but i know its gonna be a pain, i just want to roll coal ):
Heck yah brother! Welcome to the TDI world!
I have a Mk7 tdi it’s has a cr190 turbo and a gti front end. It is the most fun car I had so far.
13:37 So sad to hear. In europe we got mk6 with 4motion as option. So weird that gtd is only 2 wheel drive but "basic" variant can have 4 wheel drive.
I'm glad I bought mine. Especially in the red. Only like 3 others in my city that are red and I'm the only TDI. Nice to be "rare" for once😂
Yo I love the channel bro! I do have a question though, did you ever end up running the quarter mile and shooting nitrous at the same time? The video I watched of you at the track was in the 12 seconds but that put your eighth of a mile around 8.3. I was hoping if I fully built my A3 TDI to get into the 7's. I've watched pretty much all your videos though, so I know the extent of the build.
i got a ‘14 passat tdi not even a year ago and it has been in the shop three times so far with burned up alternators
The MK7 TDIs don’t like Tuning too much. Can’t get more then 280-300hp from them.
Above that you’ll need new heads. CUPA/CUNA heads are very restrictive.
at the end of the day its a 4 cylinder even though at those numbers it still gives you some pull into the seat. if you really want big numbers your going to have to go inline 6
I’ve got a seat leon fr with a cr170 engine, it’s very similar to this one but with a simple tune can make 200 hp easy
I Have a 2015 MK7 TDi and she’s currently dead… I know your pain
What happened to it
@@MrBasstothemax lost all power driving to work one day. Driving casual as hell. no smoke out of the exhaust when it happend there were no signs of oil or damage anywhere in the engine bay.I took it to VW and they said its locked up they couldn’t get the crank to turn by hand.
Damn sounds like the timing belt went, how many miles were on it?
Bro what the hell , tell us more about this story please. And ur engine is under warranty btw
92,000 The car was taken care of so well everything serviced and up to date. Tough break I guess. When I get around to replacing it I’ll take apart the old motor and find out what the culprit was.
Korweks llc did have a all wheel drive kit for the mk6 but unfortunately they do not do that anymore. That is the one thing I wish my 2011 jsw had
Bc plates!
Nice car 🚘
I like your channel! I have a 2015 golf tdi and wondering how hard is it to upgrade to a cp3 compared to a cp4. Need a timing belt soon and considering upgrading….. thanks !
Was just wondering how you went about bending the high pressure fuel line from the CP3 pump to your rail. Did you just use a tubing bender?
Such a pain!! I just used a Vice and rag to firmly hold in place and bend with closed end of a wrench. Had to buy a new line after I mangled my first one for close to $50 and try again.
I have a 2011 Golf Tdi and it came to me with paddle shifters
Yea but do they work?
You're really proud of your car
it's a fucking turbo diesel bud!
@@sayless9937holy moley!
What’s the average lifespan of these motors mile wise I’ve heard these hit 300,000 miles with no problems
You should check out a video by Deutsche Auto that used haldex to make a rwd (or awd? I can’t remember) golf 😂
Hmmmmm I’ve always thought a TT-S drive train would be deadly in a TDI, I’ll check it out! Thanks brother
My 2012 golf came with paddle shifters from factory
Hey Ty, what are these front headlights?
Do you know where did the previous owner get them?
they did make 4 motion golf’s and sportwagons in europe i know a guy that is swapping his fwd sportwagon to 4 motion
Interesting, It would definitely be cool to have a 4 motion setup for the TDI. probably a lot of chopping to fit a drive shaft, so I'll leave that to the fab guys haha
Just wrecked my 12 two door golf tdi ugh I’m worried she might be totaled damn deer and tree:(
Great video.
Why did you decide to go with BX Racing coilovers?
What sway bars did you go with?
I'm looking to buy Bilstein B14 coilovers but what else should I replace when doing the suspension? Thanks
The car had BC's on it before I bought it, I would have gone bilstein coils most likely, I am sponsored by whiteline, so I have their front and rear sway bars, absolutely love how the car handles in its current form!
What about the 1.6 tdi ????
my 2012 golf tdi came with paddle shifters
How do you find the dsg reliability wise?
My stock US TDI has paddle shifters
Enkei rims ? Do those fit on a mk5 golf 1.6i ? Looking great, nice stance!
Would depend on your bolt pattern and offset/ body
@@ThatGuyTyy Bolt pattern is 5x112, current rims are the oem ones (part no. 1K0601025R), which are 16inch X 6.5, with 50 offset. Legally I'm allowed a maximum of 17 inch rims, I guess there are 17 inch versions of this style of rim. Thanks for responding!
I'm "in" TDI 20 years and 3 golfs deep
What is better : the R suspension ; the gti suspension or coilover ?
Coilover always, more adjustability and there’s nothing special about gti or R suspension compared to the cost of coilovers you can get for the same price
@@ThatGuyTyy ok cool Thx man ; I’m considering to buy a mk6 tdi 140hp soon and go with a basic tune (downpipe , slightly bigger turbo and custom intake).
My goal is ~200-220hp.
Do you think it’s a good idea for a daily ? And do you think that the stock clutch will hold with that ?
My Mk6 Tdi has paddles, its the tech package
Interesting, what year is it? Is your wheel a standard round bottom as well?
You can get the newer display climate control from the Golf mk6 GTI Cabriolet. 👍 plug and play!
I can hook you up if you want to.
Will that works for a 2012 jetta tdi?
there are mk5 and mk6 4motion or quattro on a3 8p around 52 on europe for gtds
Yeah we got the 8P and Mk5 in AWD platforms here in Canada, just no TDI :(
Hey. Have you still got your dpf/egr? And do you find to have any issues with them?
Nope fully deleted
Awesome Golf Mk6 Im up to buy a golf 20 Tdi mk6 with a dsg transmission with 90k miles but Im hesitated about any dgr egr and dsg or flywheel break down which cost loads of money
What do you think should I go for it or not ?
Thanks really amazing video
If you have access to or know someone who has VCDS or other more advanced VW scanning abilities, I would look through the cars diagnostics for any red flags right away - typically flywheel failure is very obvious - lots of noise from the engine, even shake when accelerating due to a certain engine RPM. EGR/ DPF failure only comes from neglection during ownership - if you live somewhere that you can remove emissions if they fail, that is always an option! Best of luck with the purchase!
Thanks for your reply I will try to check it with a scan tool my worries are that all is really expensive compered with the manual gearbox here where I live emissions are being taken care during the yearly mot test but are not strict as in your country
I love the car and I have been doing loads of research which as you perfectly said the flywheel is the first to be changed then the timing belt the dual clutch.
Also in my country you wont find a golf mk 5 or 6 , 7 with low mileage normally when they are for sale it is the time that expenses are to start occurring
Thanks once again wishing you a successful New Year keep up with your amazing content enjoy your rides.
look at the service records you want one that has had the transmission service every 50k miles. the dgs is a great transmission but it demands clean fluid or it will die quickly. the emissions stuff is actually really well designed and is not an issue till you start putting on bigger turbos
They had a mk5 with 4wheel drive called a 4motion
Yeah we got an R32 Mk5 here with Haldex, but no TDI AWD's other than the SUVs
With US Speed limits you get 1000km of Range out of these. That's 5l/100km or 47mpg. For a Stock engine, that is
Absolutely! some guys out here hypermile these common rails quite aggressively, its impressive!
@@ThatGuyTyy With Hypermiling you get below 4l/100km. That's around 60mpg
I can go from cincinnati to about 100 miles into florida on one tank I get 54mpg at 75 on cruise control with the kerma emissions compliant tune stock everything else
What
Sway Bars did you use ?????
Front & rear
Whiteline Sway bars with adjustable links front and rear!!!
I have a 2011 with paddle shifters. USA car
What brand and spec sway bars are you running ?
Check my most recent video!
you really need to tint your rear windows, otherwise dope car!
Duuude I know I hate the fishbowl so much haha
my 2011,2014 golf tdi had paddles in the us
My 2011 does as well
So most GTI mk6 mods are compatible with TDI mk6?
In terms of chassis stuff - yes, engine related not so much haha
Does a 2013 Audi A3 TDI have the same motor?
Yes!
where did you get your injectors
My injectors were custom built yeaaaars ago, however I know Darkside carries upgraded ones that will fit the CJAA and CBEA!
MK7 tdis are the worst. Those EA288 engines are nothing compared to ea189 cr tdis. CUNAs start consuming oil after 200k km even without tune and if you put a bigger turbo on them their head gasket blows really fast.
Whered ya get the GTD grill? 👀
Just an emblem insert! - MK6 R grille with the badge changed
@@ThatGuyTyy thanks man! Gonna pick it up then since it's that easy!
@Lvoa-C right on ! Enjoy the cosmetic upgrade it’ll look sick
I’m having a tough time and unable to get my mkvi TDI started after putting in a cr170 turbo, Downpipe and CP3. Sure wish I could get some help from you right now!! Ugh
Hey Alfredo, throwing any codes with the new turbo? You get it running?
@@ThatGuyTyy got it running like a top. It was a bad O2 sensor. Snagged a new one from VW and it started right up. Matt Whitbread even gave me a Malone stage 3 tune on the house, so I now have a choice of tune. Big difference between stage 2 and 3. Thanks for following up..
Awesome glad you got it running! Lemme know how the performance is and if you need any help with future mods?
@@ThatGuyTyy more details on Golf to GTI or R mkvi bumper would be great for everyone.
There is not much to it, just a stock golf r bumper, no foam crash support/ has to modified, and then direct bolt up
Wish i could delete my tdi😢
What about there shitty HPFP that blowsup and ruins the entire fuel system
Cp3 fuel pump upgrade!
@@ThatGuyTyy who will do that mod for you plus where to get the pump. Im looking at a 2014 golf tdi. Has 81,000 miles on it. Just had the entire fuel system replaced due to the hpfp failure. They want 14k think I should or stay clear.
Mileage sounds good and if it’s all been done with OEM parts with receipts that’s a good deal!
@@ThatGuyTyy yea all done through VW I called and verified.
@@begrateful8934 Should be good then, but always nice to get the price down a bit
