    good points on teh screen tech, but for me im not bothered at all on the screen, as long as i have good strong reliable engine and good for miles and that is certainly volkswagen. Ive had the cc with the 2.0 tdi bluemotion engine 140 bhp but you would be very surprised just how good it really is, mpg always puts a big cheesy smile on my face when a lot of modern day cars and suv,s get no wear near my figures and is very satisfying im spending money well in the fuel department, i like the ride also. I had a couple of passat also great car to driver and live with, you could say im a big vw fan, the golf is an excellent car all round, and great fun to drive, great mpg figures also, like they say look after your car and it will look after you.

      @@lewisk5430 All I would say regard to tuning is, find a specialist, but before that, you will do much better, like I said, by keeping on top of servicing and maintenance. I see too many cars "modded" that drive terribly. You would be best served, spending the cash on regular fluid and filter changes, fresh tyres and well sorted running gear, engine turbo, gearbox, driveshaft, brakes, discs, wheels, can all let you down if they are defective in any way, and will offset any mod or tune. p.s. the internal on the mk6 GT TDI are not "like chocolate", but a few things to think about: the car is quicker than say a mk2 GTI 16v, it handles better, and that is way quicker than you need on the road. If you want to go to track days, you may be best served with a mk6 or 7 GTI or R.

    Hi I've just bought a 2009 Mk6 GT TDI it has a powertrain fault it's had the egr cooler removed have you had any issues / problems with yours I should look out for mine has done 96k miles thanks

    • @CarThought
      @CarThought  4 роки тому +3

      adam mason helloooo, yes egr’s are a common fault on most diesels. The soot from the dinosaur juice clogs up the recirculation system. 2 options, replace the system and have it break again in another 96k miles or blank it off with a small plate and re-map to delete it from the ecu. Maybe look out for a sticky bonnet latch like mine? Haha

    1. You don't need to bother if you forget to turn off the heating in your exterior mirrors. After a couple of minutes, the heating gets turned off automatically by the car's electrical system. It will only get turned on again, if let's say you leave the button turned on, and next time you start the car, normally, the heating will turn on, again, just for a few minutes. It is just like when you turn on the heating in the rear windshield, to defrost it and after a few minutes, it will turn off automatically.
    2. Soft close for the roof grabhandles is not new, at least at VW. It is there since the Golf Mk 4.
    3. All Golf Mk 6 have that chrome line around the fog lights. It does not deppend on the level of equipment of the car. If you have fog lights, you have that chrome circles.
    4. Floor gas peddal is on VW since the Golf Mk 5. Nothing new, again. As the Golf Mk 6 is sort of a facelift of the Mk 5 (same platform btw), VW kept the peddal types on this generation too. On the Mk 7 saddly they gave up on the floor gas peddal and restarted using the classic type.

      Sam Faulkner plenty quick enough unless you’re a speed demon! Fact of the matter is it’s a small car with a moderately large engine so it’s not slow. Depends what you’re used to! 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear are torque limited to prevent wheel spin so they don’t feel that fast, 4th is where it’s at 🤘best thing to do would be take one for a spin. Manual FTW, drove an auto and it wasn’t very slick.
