Fake Tan? DOVE self-tanning lotion 3 day review - does it work? (Holiday vibe)

- It just so happened with the recent heatwave, and we had this un-used cream lying about - DOVE self-tanning lotion so I wanted to document and check for myself if this product really works. I put it to the test. VIEWERS WHO MAY BE OFFENDED OF THE LEGS SHOT - SKIP VIDEO FROM 3:08 TO 3:48 and 7:59 to 8:19 - I HAD TO DO AN HONEST REVIEW ;)
Whilst I believe the recent heat wave had something to do with my slight tan, DOVE's self-tanning lotion really did compliment the weather and for a while gave me that "fresh" holiday look; sadly though, following production of this review, I did start realising the drawbacks from the wet / slippery action whenever washing my hands and sweating heavier than usual due to the applications. You do feel very moisturised / rejuvenated, however I noticed 72hrs of not continuously using it as much - I did finally see some stains and it appears as if the colour / tan changes, in fact this past Friday 23/07 I couldn't have looked more fake than that fake Essex tan! Sorry fake-tan people - it looks like we really do need to go a holiday to get a tan, to include myself. :)
Strangely enough, I do actually like the product and of course, I do in general - enjoy DOVEs products from shower creams and other every day creams.
Oh and after I apply tan, I put soap in my palms rub them together, get water in my basin and place my palms over the water in the basin and rub my hands on a towel. This stops any colour and stains on the palms ;) hope that makes sense.
always wash your hands after using a self tanner it doesn't matter if it is a lotion or regular self tanner you always wash your hands. I would suggest you buy a mitt and apply it that way and still wash your hand immediately after.
How do you apply self tanner to your hands then ?? 😅
@@WorldWideSk8boarding If you really want self tanner on your hands you use a makeup brush and bend your fingers so you get the self tanner in all the crevices. You never leave self tanner on your hands and feet for longer then 30 to 45 min. Or you will end up with orange hands and feet. Self tanner grips onto the thinnest parts of skin. I personally never do my hands or feet anymore. It just looks way to unnatural for me. Whatever you do NEVER ever get self tanner on the palms or the heels and bottoms of your feet or you will have to hide for a week until it wears off.

Just use one that you rarely use and dedicate that brush for your self tanning. Today is Amazon Prime day I highly suggest you buy yourself a good velvety self tanning mitt. They have really good ones that usually come with extra accessories…good luck 🍀

The problem I found in this lotion is it's smell isn't good for me.
The products people suggested on here for you to review are Australian products. I dare say alot of people watching this are Australian as we are fake tan addicts lol

I’m in Aus and I prefer gradual tans. I have this one, Bondi sands pure gradual tan, no smell on that one. Etc. My fave got discontinued. The colours was so nice on the coconut lotion palmers bronze in the pump bottle. I liked the colour and liquid better than the original cocoa bronze palmers lotion. I much prefer clear gradual tanners over mousse.
Don’t forget to tan your eyelids a bit and ears or they’ll stay white and it’ll look fake lol

Exfoliate, you mean like wash with soap / shower gel? I had a shower that day (if that counts?) otherwise just applied the cream. Thanks for your comments. I’m here in the UK, hence the accent 😉

How to remove This colour from my hand
I always rub tan on my palms and fingers then after u applied, turn the tap on so there’s water on the bottom of the sink. Turn tap off. Put your palms in the water and rub your hands together and wipe with a towel. Or use a baby wipe after applying
I use a bit of soap and water and rub hands together then wipe off on a towel and my hands don’t stain. I don’t wash my hands fully so I have tan on my hands.
