  • BrandonTan91 is the world's number one Pokémon GO player with over 300 million XP. He's a mystery to many people - some say he spoofs, some say he cheats. At the end of last year, I went to Singapore to play Pokémon GO with Brandon and his team, and this is what I learned about how Brandon Tan plays Pokémon GO...

Thanks for being patient as I stumbled through the beginning of this year. I had an incredible time in Singapore with Brandon and his team, and I'm excited to finally be ready to share this with you. The purpose of this video isn't to debate the ethics of having multiple accounts or judge the way anyone else chooses to spend their time and money. I'm here to share my perspective on what it takes to be the world's top Pokémon GO player. It's about much more than just grinding - it takes true passion for the game to be able to do what Brandon does, and I have a very deep respect for him and his contributions to the Pokémon GO community, both in Singapore and worldwide. Enjoy!

excellent work, well worth the wait and effort. you really should do more of this documentary style, it's just perfect.
maybe one about niantic and their internal processes (or as much of that as they care to share with us) and i'm one happy nerd :D (maybe this vid could help as some sort of reference, for them to realize you really should do that)

For the rest it is better for your eyes, they never have to zoom in to look at the small phone otherwise.

I love everything about this video and if Niantic doesn’t hire you as a videographer/marketing guru for them.....they are really losing out on someone that keeps people playing. I’ll be honest. Without you and the amazing love you put into the community, I would’ve stopped playing a long time ago. Congrats nick! This video is perfection and you’re going to go places. I can see it now.

"If you're feeling stressed about playing a game, something is clearly wrong." I take this to heart!
I tend to stress myself over my progress in many games because I am very competitive, but that often kills my motivation and enjoyment to play. I end up playing hardcore for a relatively short amount of time, and after, I take a very long break or quit entirely. Though, if I'd allowed myself to take it slow and not stress about min-maxing everything all the time, I surely would have more consistent progress and a lot more fun along the way.
Brandon seems unbelievably intelligent, and I think we can all learn a lot from him, not just about PoGo but also about life.

Idk how I ended up on this old video again, but it still amazes me what a single passionate human being can create. All those people were casual players before they met Brandon. He turned them all into hardcore grinders through his passion for this damn game. He basically created that small group/community of players. Helps that Signgapore is apparently absolutely mad over pokemon go, but doesn't make it less impressive. I will say that it hurts me to think about the amount of money he's put into the game. He basically runs incense, lucky egg and star piece 24/7. He also drives (gas money) around placing lures all over the place. Not to mention the million raids he's done. Then again who am I to count another man's money. Great video.

14:14 I agree with Brandon. If all these maps didn't exist, maybe the community would be closer together.
Not everyone has access to these maps/callouts so it does make it unfair.
Instead of working together there are cliques to keep everything a secret.

Nick, you out did yourself on this video. Absolutely beautiful portrayal of a legend. Such a humble man with a huge heart. Great job, this is what Pokemon is about. Real world experiences with the altered reality of Pokemon.
    Keep on, keepin on.
