I Spent 24 Hours With The World's #1 Pokémon GO Player (50 Raids in One Day)

- BrandonTan91 is the world's number one Pokémon GO player with over 300 million XP. He's a mystery to many people - some say he spoofs, some say he cheats. At the end of last year, I went to Singapore to play Pokémon GO with Brandon and his team, and this is what I learned about how Brandon Tan plays Pokémon GO...

Thanks for being patient as I stumbled through the beginning of this year. I had an incredible time in Singapore with Brandon and his team, and I'm excited to finally be ready to share this with you. The purpose of this video isn't to debate the ethics of having multiple accounts or judge the way anyone else chooses to spend their time and money. I'm here to share my perspective on what it takes to be the world's top Pokémon GO player. It's about much more than just grinding - it takes true passion for the game to be able to do what Brandon does, and I have a very deep respect for him and his contributions to the Pokémon GO community, both in Singapore and worldwide. Enjoy!
You are the best UA-camr ever! Vids like this is what splits you and rest of the pogo community
excellent work, well worth the wait and effort. you really should do more of this documentary style, it's just perfect.
maybe one about niantic and their internal processes (or as much of that as they care to share with us) and i'm one happy nerd :D (maybe this vid could help as some sort of reference, for them to realize you really should do that)
Hi Nick from India

Very nice Video. Really nice to see how the player with the most XP in the world plays. Keep it up Nick!

@@charlestrujillo9717 So what, it doesn't matter what the law says. It's obvious to anyone that drives that keeping your eyes away from the road to look at a screen is dangerous. Doesn't matter if its mounted or not. And brandon himself knows that. Not sure if he still does that though.
TheDeterminer he doesn’t look at the screen for the bulk of it though and yes ultimately of course he shouldn’t nor should anyone else but it could be a lot worse for him

THIS IS THE BEST POKÉMON GO VIDEO EVER MADE. AUNTIE! She made me almost cry when she said “I’m a retired citizen and playing with these youngsters....I feel young again”. Nick Mckinty maybe if u don’t know how to drive and you’re not hosted at Pokémon go.
Nick's narration and editing is quite professional. This video has the feel of a PBS documentary. This is more than just about Brandon or even Pokemon Go. As one woman said, "I'm a senior citizen. Playing with Brandon makes me feel young again." Nick gets it. He understands the complete dynamic of Pokemon, but also community gaming in general. Bravo, Nick.

not just PoGo but all games need to drop this stigma
YAS! 🙌
but its still just a game
I love seeing elderly people play PoGo. Idk it does feel really connecting to very different groups of people you don't usually interact much with.
I’m a legit player and am only level 29 in a small town in Ohio.. Literally no one does legendary raids here. I got all my legendaries from field research
@Lite Envolpe I'd suggest trying to make (or find) a Facebook group for Pokemon GO and ask if there is a chat or Discord for your area (you'll be suprised how much people play).
I live in rural Australia and did this and now I'm able to get notified when people are going to a legendary raid.
Hope this helps ❤

Well... Time to grind, Saving this video and I'll probably watch is a 100x more for whenever I need motivation for my grinding goals. Thank you for the fantastic documentation of a community, not just one person. It was amazing to see the integrity and pride of the Singaporeans towards this game, ths video turned out really well and it's my favorite video I've ever seen you make after the Japan vlogs.
Its interesting reading through the comments and to find all the other "popular" gamers 😅👍
Wholeheartedly agree. The Japan vlogs will always have a special place for me, but seeing this made me realise that sometimes, we don't need to be bogged down by the semantics of the game. If it unites a community and brings people together, then more power to them. Thank you Nick, this video is the reason I'm still a Patron of yours.
Don't waste ur time watching it again. Don't comment on videos, just play!!!!! Hahaha you need every second!

"If you're feeling stressed about playing a game, something is clearly wrong." I take this to heart!
I tend to stress myself over my progress in many games because I am very competitive, but that often kills my motivation and enjoyment to play. I end up playing hardcore for a relatively short amount of time, and after, I take a very long break or quit entirely. Though, if I'd allowed myself to take it slow and not stress about min-maxing everything all the time, I surely would have more consistent progress and a lot more fun along the way.
Brandon seems unbelievably intelligent, and I think we can all learn a lot from him, not just about PoGo but also about life.

Actually it gets so hot and humid sometimes in Singapore it's unbearable to be outside. It's a thing that Niantic overlooked in their gamedesign. People want to play every day. But we see the weather limits us in doing that. That is where the car comes in. Pokemon Go does cover that you drive with your car to a park or beach or theme park or city and step out and discover/play in that place.
Hes the real life Ash :) love that man's content brings joy to my day. Such a nice outgoing person in the videos he does. You can see he loves the game truly loves the game :)
This foo dead ass said " it's only a mewto " 😔 I cant even catch a ditto
I have 6 mewtwo's (1 shiny), but no ditto 😂
U from ny?
Pretty sure he was joking to make the woman less nervous
ME RIGHT NOW WITH THE DANG MELTAN RESEARCH OMG
I caught like 7 when I logged back into the game from release and not a single one since.
But anyways, loved seeing the legend in action! great documentary :)
I really loved this. This really was beautiful, and showed such a wonderful kind of relationship all these friends shared that was, surprisingly or not, started out all from a game of Pokémon :)
50 Raids in a day? I’ve only ever done 47 raids in my life.😂😂
I haven't done any yet because doing raids solo seems way to hard :(
Like, in my town there are a total of 3 gyms. 1 that i walk closeby to school usually is just a gym and ive seen like 4-5 raids at the place but they have all been like lvl3 or higher.. I picked up the game again last month after a year quit.
Yeah, the summer where the game released everybody in town was playing. From adults to kids to teens. Now its just me, VERY few teens and very few adults.
This dude sounds so serious and Brandon be like “oooooooooh time for raid!”
“They spend almost 24/7 except for the sleeping hours”
Boy have I got an announcement for you!
Obviously he just makes more hours in the day duh! 🤷♂️
@@Zman201 r/woooooooooooooosh
@@grape5232 that ain't a whoooosh lol
He must be really wealthy because cars in sigapore costs almost 10times the price of other countires and he owns a 50k lexus which it means...
not to mention the certificate you need to have aswell
Must be nice to be rich
Currency in other countries have different value then u.s money, for example, in mexico, 5 thousand pesos convert into about $264 u.s dollars
and 50k in SGD is $36,242.50 USD, whats your point
Khaturtle i think his point is wealth comes easier or hsrder in other countries compared to the U.S. but in relation to the country within itself, he is rich.
He has a UA-cam channel but he doesn't upload anymore, he was the highest level player of Clash of Clans and is also a legend in Clash of Clans.
This video is well done in watching it again years later.
I been playing Pokemon go since it was released and never heard of this guy 😂
so u dont play it.
I've played on and off and I haven't heard about him either. It's not like Nintendo care and put his name in the apps news tab lol
Daniel Svalestad so do I
Lvl 40 active daily player (raids, gyms every morning, sending gifts to almost 200 People ) never heard of him lol
Im even worse i both play it and live in sg and rhis is the fiest time i heard
My friends jokingly ask me the speedrun strats for PoGo. This is it. This is the PoGo speedrunning community.
This is an excellent documentary, I think you’ve found your calling.
During the kanto tour we had a 50 year old looking man at the park inside his suv with like 5 phones and a sixth one in hand we were joking saying he has 5 accounts but now seeing this I’m actually like :0
How to become Nr. 1:
Step One:Live in Singapore
No, there are many other big cities in the world where grinding is easier. Tokyo, Toronto, NY. Anywhere with a rectangular street grid works better to grind and raid hard.
@@jankees4037 i know but you have to live in a city to be someone in Pokemon GO...I live in a small town in Bavaria, Germany but I have been in Berlin past week.I got about 1.5 Million Exp this week and that's almost the whole amount of exp I had before.
"Don't stress it's only a Mewtwo"
I was so triggered
Tony Valdovinos sarcasm
Tony Valdovinos I actually got hyped when she got it
D
Nah it was more like: "Don't stress...it's onry a Mew-twoooooo"
I have 2 and I have never used any
Yo! Your shooting style and narrative are on point, not a single waisted frame in this. Damn good job bro❤️❤️❤️
i come back to this video from time to time, especially now when the whole world has been under lockdown for such a long time. makes me miss traveling, and how I sort of took it for granted. what an amazing video.
Same. I'm currently on my first overseas trip since pre-Covid. Ironically I actually came to Singapore. Rewatching this for the first time in a couple years and it's great.
