Okay almost exactly one year ago I set up an etsy shop to sell digital items, and then never got around to actually making and posting anything - you've kicked me back into gear, I'm gonna spend the weekend working on this!! THANK YOU
Your comments about the same 2 aesthetics are sooo true. I went on Etsy today and was annoyed at how boring everything was and how everything looks exactly the same. I'm literally going to create some things, just so that there are some differences. Awesome video
Not sure why I hadn't thought of this. I'd always planned on opening an etsy shop in the future for bigger projects but I hadn't really thought about digital products... I need to do this!
been wanting/thinking about doing this for quite some time now and I think this might've been exactly the last arse kick that I needed, so thank you so much!
Yay new video ! This has motivated me so much, I was waiting to be able to sell physical prints but now I will definitely consider selling them as digital printables 😊 Thank you !!
I use Teachers Pay Teachers for this. You have to go big there to get a lot of money but I reliably get a certain amount every month for digital lessons and units.
Such a great vid! I did wanna point out though, that Etsy definitely takes alot more in fees than what you mentioned. They take a total of 3 fees on every digital sale. The transaction fee which is 5%, the processing fee which is either 3% or 4% + 25c depending on what they use, and the 20c listing fee which is actually charged on every single digital product sold when it is listed with multiple quantities. Which all digital items would of course have. So for example, if you list a printable baby shower invite at a quantity of 100, you'll pay that 20c renewal fee every time one sells. Then you'll pay it again in 4 months or if you sell out the 100 before then. I think is pretty ridiculous to be honest and that's the one thing I dislike about Etsy...all the fees lol. For example, on one item I sold for $6.99, I paid a total of $1.06 due to those fees. And that's on the lower 3% payment fee. But hey, what can I say? it's still a great platform and I will definitely continue to use it! lol. Thanks for sharing!
@@CozyK Omg I'm dumb I knew your name was Kennedy from your first video but then I thought I heard Kelly this time around so I was confused LOL. Love your videos & excited about this community.
This really is the video I needed to see at this stage of my career! Thanks so much! (found you via your cozy games video so i feel like i was lead here haha).
I also totally agree with/relate to your point about being bored with all the same themes and creating for yourself haha. this whole video is so well said!
Ngl this video made me wanna learn a new skill like graphic design or photoshop so I have sth to do part-time aside from my student job and uni No idea where to even start tho, it all seems so overwhelming 😭
I work in graphic design and I would love to make custom affordable overlays as a side thing but the twitch graphics market (emotes/badges) seems really oversaturated at the moment so I’m not sure if I should or not.
It def is a bit more saturated, but I think the same idea applies! There’s a lot of very similar designs and still plenty of room for some new/unique aesthetics!
3:17 I gasped then wheezed when you dragged the Etsy aesthitiqúe with *Christian Girl Autumn* and *boring modern* like really that’s the ONLY thing these Etsy Stores seem to wanna make, they are the TikTok of arts and crafts sometimes I swear they’re just repeating each other’s design styles 😭😂👏🤣✌️
Hi Kennedy I know this video is so old, I remember watching it and feeling inspired but never got around to making digital items. I'm doing it now and I'm wondering if you think most of your sales came from social media marketing or Etsy? I don't think I would do social media marketing bc I'm shy 🙈but I like to make the products.
I made an instagram template to sell on etsy completely from scratch even incorporating my own handrawn designs converted digitally, I made a sale but the very next day my account was closed without any notice. I just want to know what went wrong but they have completely ghosted me.
Taking note of this for future Jon. Truly had no idea it was so simple to make an Etsy shop as a designer. Sounds like a fun hobby and side hustle to run alongside a job. Thank you so much for the info in this vid, Ken! 🤎🐤
you really inspired me with this video!! i've wanted to start an etsy shop for so long, but i didn't really know what to make and where to start. but this video gave me so many ideas and now i'm very motivated!! thank you so much

Yayy! Definitely keep going!

No idea where to even start tho, it all seems so overwhelming 😭
Yess, you should! I have zero training in it - i’ve just practiced a bit over the years!
I love your overlays! I tried making some myself but I‘m struggling a bit. Could you do a tutorial on how you make them?
Definitely will do!
This is a really good idea , it’s not for me , but i applaud people who can do this! 💛
Omg the Christian girl autumn got me 😂 it’s too true

Do you happen to know what the paint color is on your walls? I love it!
I don’t, I’m sorry! Was renting this place!

Absolutely love this video because I’ve been thinking about this for a while! Do you mind sharing which programs you like best for designing overlays?
thank you!! I like using Procreate because I draw my designs!
Kennedy, Love your videos! Where can I contact you regarding a partnership proposal for an Etsy SEO tool? Thanks Iara!
Yessssss to this video
Hi I’m looking into Etsy and I was wondering would you need to file a DBA? Or does it depend on your state?
i think it might be state dependent! you don’t have to where i am, but you do have to declare the income for it!
I wish i had the talent to do digital art 🤣 i do sell makeup part time thought, don’t know if that works on Etsy
Same haha I literally have no skill or talent I could use
@@SnehaR1309 i do admire the people who do it because i see so much beautiful stuff on Etsy, but i could never 🤣
there’s always skillshare if you wanna create a course on sales tips! another great platform for passive income!😉
@@CozyK thank you! I will check it out then 😌
