as an Italian who studies in a classic highschool, where I learn ancient greek and latin, watching this asmr before going to sleep it’s like the sweetest nightmare ahah
Thankyou for the video❤ im italian and what astonished me was the way you study latin. Its a language and not maths with all the clauses infinitives and scientific study of language. I unfortunately had to study in that manner for three years of my life but now o changed everything😅
"One of them" is correct" - I was contracting it a bit here, showing how much leeway can be used in translation - but not on an exam! As for the clause, putari is present passive infinitive, so, in word-for-word translation, it would be: "it was not thought/believed/supposed one of them to [be] tell[ing] the truth". We can translate these impersonal passives into active speech in English, inserting subjects, such as "we" or "I", according to the context to make a more fluent English sentence. (For exams, a word-for-word approach should be favoured in translation to show that you have understood the grammar.)
You have very calming voice and I realy enjoyed your video, however as a university professor I must point out two things: Ducturum = participium futuri activi not passivi; Negaverunt and Putavimus = perfectum not imperfectum.
I got over 150 days in Duolingo Latin. I’m reading some original texts with translations alongside. And I’m supplementing with videos like this. I hope to learn Latin becouse it’s awesome. 🏛
