    Great video. Picketing is a simple concept, but without some of the points you make being utilized, your picket could quickly turn in to a pick-you-out-of-the-crevasse scenario.

    Never used swow pickets but I use snow anchors like the DMM "deadman".They are really useful especially with groups with beginners. Swow pickets are more like an ice axe and seem to have more modes of usage, but I wonder what are the pros and cons of each system.

      My experience with things like the DMM deadman (never used that one, but have used other snow "flukes") is that: A) they are more simple to place, as you point out there aren't as many modes of usage, b) that limits the snow conditions in which they can be manipulated to be more effective, c) which can also be a good thing, as sometimes taking the human error out of "selecting the wrong configuration" can be a good thing, and d) they are a lot harder to remove (at least compared to some picket configurations).
