Took me about 7 years after the realization of addiction and alcoholism for me to get sober. Lot of programs and relapses. Today I have 5 years and 3 months clean and sober, not an easy road but 100% worth the journey and self discovery. Keep trying Bam!

He got kicked off Jackass because of his drinking & drugging, which just recently released. This podcast is VERY misleading. It says this podcast was released 7 months ago.. well 7 months ago he was drinking & making drunk videos asking people for money. Even during this podcast (if the release date is in correlation with the time it was filmed give or take a few weeks) he was sober, he was DEFINITELY still going through his drinking. He won't ever stop drinking until he stops blaming his drinking on Ryan's firey death. He's been to the best rehabs in the country, best money can buy. Atleast 7 times that are publicly known. Most people go to rehab ONCE or TWICE. Apparently he's currently in a half-way house type situation where they monitor you & your money. Limited outside contact. No cell phones or vehicles. Visitors by appointments. Just above being on parole & living in an actual half-way house or being a trustee in jail. If Steve-O & Ozzy can quit drinking & drugging. He can too. I say that with confidence because I quit drinking too. It's a bit*h at first. But it can be done. He's got a wife & kid too, living, unlike Ryan. That right there is somw motivation.

OP, you're blinded by hope/denial. You want so badly to have Novak as a role model that you're just accepting what he's putting out there as truth, instead of actually fully SEEING him. It's clear as day that the man isn't 100% sober. If you've ever been an addict of anything, you know how to act to get people off your back. You know the right things to say, and if you've already announced to the world that you're sober, you know how to hide your relapses. Or you THINK you do (that's part of the illness of addiction): you think you're getting over on everybody else, and you take advantage of the fact that nobody wants to call you out on your "sobriety" because THEY don't want to look like the asshole (because they're supposed to trust you and believe in you, right?). But then all of the telltale signs are there when you're under the influence. I was addicted to coke and booze and I can see/feel Novak's "just high enough to feel good but not be a mess" mannerisms and behaviors through my screen. I mean, have you even watched any of his interviews?! He repeats himself over and over like a broken record (the exact same stories using the EXACT same words like it's a script, because if he just sticks to that then he won't get tripped up), his jaws are working, his eyes are glassy, he's slurring, he's acting manic as fuck, sometimes he doesn't even hear (or ignores) the interviewers' questions and just barrels along with his safe script... Come on dude, get your head out of the denial pit- Novak may not be a hot mess like he used to be but he definitely isn't sober either. And that's ok. Recovery may very well be a LIFELONG journey for him, but one thing I can tell you for sure is that if you care about him (or someone else in your life who's an addict, or even yourself), being in denial is the WORST thing you can do. When a person cares about an addict, they actively try to cut through the bullshit and hold the person accountable at all times and in all situations, because they KNOW that the illness causes the addict to hide their slip-ups.

They are blessed with all kinds of oportunities we don't have, but they just scale up their ambitions, so whatever they have that we want means very little to them anymore. Then that lifestyle also comes with more eyes on them and much more stress and sadly it's much harder to scale up your tolerance levels for that. So at the end of the day they're just experiencing a far more complicated and stressful life.

I can't move my pinky toe and its numb. Can't remeber if i broke it but i don't believe so. Covid pandemic has been tough. My girl broke up with me, covid hit, i drank daily a lot....then hurt my back. I thought i was healed because i don't have back pain. But i gained 60 pounds and still drink. My impression is that Bam clinges to his jackass past, when each day seemed to be one chaotic party. But the party is over for years, even if there is a re-visit here n there in form of a Jackass Movie. All the other guys went forwards in their lifes and changed. But Bam, now in his 40s, wanted to continue the 2000s. . So it's great to hear that he finally wants to get off the booze n drugs. Being under the influence, he ruined his 1st marriage, his health, his relationship to the Jackass guys, and maybe/maybe not his 2nd marriage. He literally became the new Novak, while Novak became like Steve O: sober, healthy and happy. And thats were i'd like to see Bam some day.
