    Thank you so much for your tutorials. I did a lot of DTP with FrameMaker years ago. When a client asked me to put together a book for him, Scribus seemed like a good choice for a tool. Your tutorials helped me transfer my ancient FM knowledge and I was up and running with Scribus quickly.

    2:34 - How to create custom color swatches: Edit > Colors & Fills > Duplicate a color then modify its levels and settings. Voila
    7:00 - Remove Unused - shows you what colors you actually used and discards the rest so you can save just that color set

    This video is about choosing colors. If I create a PDF-file, some logos will only printed black. If I create a BMP-file of the very same document, everything will be printed fine. In addition, it takes seven minutes for getting one page of PDF-file printed. It takes only one minute to print out the named image file.

    Thank you so very much for this tutorial, i was losing my mind. I don't know what they were thinking when they made the process of *USING A NEW COLOR* such a convoluted travesty.

    Hello, these tutorials have been very helpful but I'm struggling with something. I don't have an option in 'properties' to fill with colour. In the version I'm using (1.4.8), opening the 'colour and effects' tab only allows me to change the colour of the text - not the background. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong please?

  • @johnsnow2679

    Thank you for this clear explanation. I'm running Linus Mint and get a choice of only two 'colours' - black or white.
    Does anybody know how to rectify this?

      Here is a link to an RGB to HEX script. There is also a lot of great documentation about color and palettes on the Scribus wiki here: wiki.scribus.net/. Wish I could be more help!

    Some property windows make the main document grayed out. I tried to move the property window, but it moves the grayed out main document altogether. Is it normal in ubuntu 20.04?

    This isn't really colour management. What options are there for imported images? (exporting PDF to process colours strips out a lot of the ranges in the images)

    Hi: I didn't see any reference to Pantone or HEX Color Codes nor anywhere to insert them. Is that because Scribus doesn't have that capability or am I missing something?

    • @TJFREE
      @TJFREE  5 років тому

      Good question Miguel. I did a little research, and here's what I found. Converting RGB colors to HEX can be done using an add on. As far as Pantone colors, it appears that they have been used successfully in Scribus. The issue is licensing. A quote from Wikipedia "Pantone asserts that their lists of color numbers and pigment values are the intellectual property of Pantone and free use of the list is not allowed." There are a few options to consider here: wiki.scribus.net/canvas/How_to_legally_obtain_spot_colour_palettes_for_use_in_Scribus_1.3.3.x_and_later_versions

    Does anyone know how to merge colour set on version 1.4.8? it's not in the menu. The only way I can see is to add them one by one which would take a very long time...

      For a slightly different approach, it might be worth checking out Kevin Pugh's Scribus videos. They are old, so it's with a much older version of Scribus, but the basic principles are the same, and it's an interesting approach.
      It seems that with the 1.5.? versions, Scribus makes this easier and/or you can do more in this respect, but you can do it with the 1.4.? or even older versions if you need to.

    I am using a MacBook Pro and when I right--click I get nodes on a shape, not properties. Is it because I'm using a Mac? If so, how do I get to shape properties so I can fill them?
