Absolutely the best modern Aikido master
Thoroughly disagree. He never takes kuzushi, and thus entirely depends upon Uke just standing there and letting him do the technique.
It's very gymnastic and visually impressive, but there's zero aiki.

Sensei, you show mind no mind . When to react to a attack, and distance. Then the off balance, the set up, and execution of the techniques. Plus the foot work and body movements. Most students forget all these components.
Very nice. You can do half of this stuff without turning your back on the assailant. You can cut down two or more steps that way.

No, that would be impossible. I recommend some solo mitt pad hitting as seen on Urban Combatives. Learn to use a martial art weapon that is effective against a knife.....also great for solo practice during these times. I recommend the Jo,...always in hand ready to go and can pass as a walking stick, medical device, blind man's cane.
