I loved those custom paint jobs on the vans! My step father was the manager of a custom remodel and paint place in Encino in the 70's. I used to go into his shop and check out all the cool paint jobs on customers vans. I always wanted one... Thanks for the upload and memories!
HAPPY YOU ENJOYED IT ... YES .. I LOVE THE CUSTOM PAINT TOO .. A VAN IS A BLANK CANVAS .. I THINK THAT IS WHAT MAKES THEM SO COOL .. YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU WANT .. AND SOMETIMES IT LOOKS REALLY GOOD .. :)
There is a van back in the early 70s Los Angeles california what I remember called the massage parlor 3 axles fancy marroon deep color mural candy apple paint Job visor flared overhead console fancy interior even a fish tank built in definitely has won van awards it was ahead of it's time. Casey jones massage parlor.
I like the Dodge B-200,I think 1973? To 78 the best. And the early 70's Econoline. We had a beer bottle metallic brown one when I was a kid. My dad painted it in the driveway. Actually turned out pretty nice.
I can remember when, back in '76, I think it was, there was this couple who lived across the street from us who had a nice GMC or Chevy van. It was orange with Cragars and heart shaped windows and the beanbag seat in the back. The owner's wife took me and several other neighborhood kids to the local 7-11 one night to get us Slurpees. I had strep throat real bad at the time, so that Slurpee felt really good going down!😄
I just wanted to let people know the 78 Dodge van that's maroon with the orange stripes parked in front of the light green house was my van. That was All Original paint.!!! 65,000 original miles. It had a 400 big block in it. Only taken out 1 or 2 times a year. It was kept in a heated garage. I still have other pics of the interior. SO COOL.!! I miss my van so bad.!!!
THATS AWESOME .. LOVE THE CUSTOM VANS .. HAD A FRIEND WITH A DODGE ,, MAN WE HAD A BLAST IN THAT VAN ,, GOOD TIMES ,, NICE MEMORIES.. THANK YOU FOR WATCHING...
I flip my dad's 69 f100 custom - make it around that 25 cruve @90 without much of an issue ( totally sideways ) - it was that 35 down the road that got me.... Those damn new halagon heads lights on the car coming my way blinded me - just missed the telephone pole by about 6inch or less - but when your doing over a hundred those embankments don't give much... Dad was happy I lived - but boy was he very pissed! Poor van looked like it had just been thru a crusher at the wracking yard - the luckiest part was my half brother nor the other passenger was hurt bad - they both was in dream land for a few minutes - I pulled both out of the wrackage and was setting their in the field when the country cop showed up - because I didn't kill anyone and nothing but the van was damaged - he given us a ride to home - I guess he figured that dealing with the folks was better than a ticket.
@@denniswiseman6290 If I recover from this shit show of commie mindset - mask mandate... I hope to rebuild my G20 van. Have two at this point - my plan is to put the current motor from the GMC into the Chevy. Then I will put a diesel in the GMC! The GMC will never be sold - have many miles yet to travel - so Diesel is the only way to get around and not be rob by the gas jockey at the pimp pump😊. Besides - it's not a everyday combination and I don't mind beating my own 🥁 - never been one of those follow the herd 🦬 mindsets.
My brother had a Ford Van during the 1970's. I had a 1999 Dodge Hi-top Conversion Van! If I am ever able to purchase another big van, I hope that it's a Dodge! I miss the Murals; the styles of the 70's! I had a 2008 Caravan, but you can't place a full size Mural on it!
You're welcome! Great video to bring back an important memorable impact that happened during our lives. At 60 now, there were some aspects of life that I wish had never changed! Some of the many Murals on Vans back then showed the world 🌎 the talented artists of our generation, unlike the absurd graffiti that has nothing to do with art on many structures today! And before someone gets offended, I'm talking about the offensive language, gang affiliated signs and x-rated "artwork" sometimes seen on sides of trains and buildings across the country! 🚫 Not all tagging is bad!!! But having Artwork on a vehicle during the 70's was such a Beautiful ❤️ Thing!!! Thank you.
