@@CarolineHirons Truly. And yes, head colds make it worse! I find steaming regularly and using NeilMed sinus rinse and a nasal spray when a headcold comes on can really help kee the vertigo at bay.

Oh my god I’ve just had to stop this when Denise talked about the metallic taste in her mouth and the pins and needles feeling in her hands. This is exactly what happens to me when my depression takes hold. It’s also a sign of an oncoming anxiety attack for me. That was how my husband knew something was wrong and without saying a word he would just gently take hold of my hand and start walking away from whatever place or situation I was in. I’ve never heard anyone else explain it like this and was starting to think it was just me. Thank you Denise ❤

I am not from the UK so I wasn’t familiar with Mrs. Denise Welch but oh my god what a woman. The way she meticulously described what depression is and does is something I have always felt, but was never able to put into words as eloquently as she did. Such a vital discussion to be had anytime anywhere. Absolutely brilliant 🙌🏻

So I suffered from PND & postbirth PTSD from my second baby in August 2023. Not a single health professional picked anything up at the time or my follow up appointments. It wasn’t until my husband suggested if I wanted to speak to someone that I sought out help. By Jan ‘24 I’d contacted my GP and he put me straight on antidepressants and suggested I could call the mental health team. I self referred to our local nhs mental health team and the psychiatrist was horrified the perinatal mental health team 1. Didn’t do any follow ups on my traumatic birth or 2. Notice my severe depression. When I was tested for ptsd my score ranked higher than the average post combat soldier.
Credit where it’s due I was seen within 3 weeks of self referral, mostly because I was postpartum and it’s key you’re seen asap because of potential psychosis. However my therapist mentioned to me there’s an 18 month waitlist in some nhs trusts for mental health services regardless of whether you’re postpartum or not.

@@CarolineHirons it’s ok, I’m mostly better now and I’m really grateful I didn’t have to pay for my wonderful psychiatrist or the therapy I received.
A positive is I’m now a massive advocate for the expansion of MH services for women!
