Nice and simple. Have you experimented with making it into more of a texture paste as you mentioned? I've been wondering about using paper mache pulp but I don't know how well it adheres to plastics. Adding paint and PVA to the mix could give it the grip it needs. A lot of your builds use card though so I can imagine it working well for those.
I haven't tried using it as a texture paste yet, but i reckon it would be fine. It sticks to those kids pipes fine so... Paper pulp sounds interesting, kinda like sculptamold, I reckon it would be fine with pva and paint. If you try it, let me know.
