I made this tea and it is SO good. Whole family loved it :) I only simmered the spices and water for around five or ten minutes and the flavour was still perfect. I added 2 star anises, which gave it a nice kick of flavour, too. Thank you!
did you add 2 WHOLE star anise? Or just 2 of the little pieces/blades off of a star anise? I like star anise in my tea also, but its either I use not enough or way too much! ;]
I happen to have a milk steamer, so I'll probably make this as a latte. I'm planning to pre proportion these in some small Tupperware, so I can just dump and boil. Thanks for the recipe
i made, one cup pg tea, 1 cup tassimo gingerbread milk, then as above, tea was making in cup, while the other ingredients blended, the clove taste is awesome. then mixed all together in blender, while i am drinking the first cup, the tea bag is i the blender, in the boiling water, making the tea even stronger.
Chai doesn't mean tea in general in English. Chai in English is a specific kind of tea. The same phenomenon happens with Queso Cheese, Sahara Desert, or Timor Leste.
You didn't add ginger, in India we always add ginger either dried ginger powder or freshly crushed ginger along with the spices. We drink herbal tea also by adding Ashwagandha( Indian ginseng), Mulethi (licorice) Tulsi ( Holy Basil) along with the above mentioned spices, instead of sugar , in southern India Karupatti ( palm jaggery ) is added
Ok so I don't even like tea, not even sweet tea and I live in Florida (my boyfriend thinks I'm crazy). I only enjoy chai tea, and even then I'm super picky. I've been searching for a good chai tea recipe, and holy cow this is the one. It's soooo good! I used whole milk instead of heavy cream, but I bet it's even better with heavy cream. Thank you!!
I've been wanting to try a true Chai (not just tea bags sold in store which are good, but was always curious on how it compairs). Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. Love your videos.
Definitely should drink this tea..keeps u from covid 19... It keeps ur respiratory track clean n warmth....n easy on breath... N in morning we indians drink honey n lemon with warm water makes alkaline in body...acidic to alkaline...later i mean give a gap of 1 hr .n drink coffee or tea ..
Thank you so much for this tutorial👏. I have been really craving chai tea but can't purchase at coffee shop as it's LOADED with sugar - I have an issue with glucose levels. I followed this recipe and left out the sugar other than about a quarter teaspoon of raw honey. (I also used English breakfast tea so will be buying loose leaf black tea) It is delicious and I can't wait to make it for friends😋 Again, thanks so much.
I had an Indian grandfather who made this almsot the same way but added the tea to boiling milk and added fennel seeds for flavour....Its good either way !
How much more would you need to make half a gallon? This would be great for a coffee alternative, been trying to find something I could drink every day w a bit of flavor🙂
Pepper and Pine Thank you for your response. I bought this exact tea in the video of your recipe :) does it have a lot of caffeine? I’m a little scared & hesitant cause I don’t drink a lot of caffeine nor do I drink coffee.
Miss you sister Hana , I hope everything is going well for you InshaAllah miss your old videos that got deleted ,the Ramadan vlog was my favorite and the homeschooling ones ❤️
I make it very similar except I add the tea right away from the start process and boil on medium for 10 minutes. I will try this way no as I notice I lose half the water in the process. I also add jaggery instead of sugar it’s Devine
I have been loving my chai for last bit and will definitely try your way as it is a bit different than the way I usually make it -can't wait! Yum! Thanks Hana:)
Awesome, it looks delicious. 😊 just for the sake of sharing information ; word " Chai" and " tea " are both originally chinese words for the green herb that we know and use . Chai word was used in south china and in that name then it became pupolar in Asia and in north China it was called a name close to tea and then it became papular as tea in Europe and west . So both tea and Chai is the name of same herb . 🌿 The tea drink is made differently in different places and Chai masala is a great warm drink. Thanks for the video ❤.
The secret is with the essential oils coming out of the spices. once they are washed, you will not have the same flavor. make sure to cover it with lid to allow oils to seep back to the tea!
Where did you get that Assam Golden loose tea at, and the green Cardamom. I only have ground Cardamom. Can't you just take refridgerated tea already made and reheat it with cloves, ground Cinnamon and ground Cardamom then strain and drink?
I get many of my ingredients from local ethnic markets like Persian or Indian markets. And no, I wouldn’t reheat the tea, though sometimes people do, it’s just not as good as fresh.
Miles Morales: I love chai tea. Spider-Man India: What did you just say? Chai tea?!? Chai means "tea", bro! You are saying "tea tea"! Would I ask you for a "coffee coffee" with room for "cream cream"?
Crush or grind whole peppercorns instead of just throwing them in whole. Do the same with the other spices. Cooking the whole thing in just milk instead of water makes for a better flavour.
i am going to try making this in my blender, using t bag, good old English tea sorry, with spices, my blender makes hot soup too, without boiling, takes 3 minutes, with hot water, of course making the tea first, i will let you know, how it works.
I'm highly allergic to peppercorns and black tea. What substitute can I use? I'm currently making it without these 2 ingredients. Let's see how it comes out.
I made it. Insanely delicious! Thank you!! I used cinnamon powder and cardamom power because that’s what I had and it turned out great.
No ginger? And add lemon grass too in the future. Heaven!
Not sure if it gives the authentic tea taste

Thank you, a resturant a block from my home used to make this but it went out of business so I am especially glad to see this recipe.
oh wow , really ? ..i want to find a restaurant or cafe #aroundLA that makes chai tea lattes from scratch !
Thanks so much for such a great tutorial, a great recipe, and writing it down so clearly. I'll add ginger with the other spices though. ❤

It’s best if you dry heat the ingredients first to release more aroma and then add the water afterwards.
How to dry heath them?

Chai is tea!! So it's a "tea tea" 😁
PS. A true chai lover from India!! Once you start having chai, there is no turning back!

I'm going to make this for my husband. He loves chai. I may try with Stevia. Have you tried that?
Indians make it with sweetened condensed milk ( no need to add extra sugar or cream )
Brown sugar tea best. And now I know what makes the chai so spices
Your doing a fantastic job, cheers!!!!
Thanks for the recipe 🥰🤍🍂🍵

I noticed you used Golden Leaf, Assam Golden Tip loose leaf tea. Do you still use that brand? Where do you get yours from?
i love it
how do you stop the milk from forming a "skin" when you heat it? this looks so good :)
Low heat and constant stirring
It doesn't matter even if it is formed because at lastly it's gonna to be stained out in stainer and other option is stir it constantly 😉
I use tea bags which work just as well
Best tea, Done with (munnar tea shop) tea powder Tasted so good.

Do you ever re-use the spices to make another round of tea?
You can actually
The secret is with the essential oils coming out of the spices. once they are washed, you will not have the same flavor. make sure to cover it with lid to allow oils to seep back to the tea!
Where did you get that Assam Golden loose tea at, and the green Cardamom. I only have ground Cardamom. Can't you just take refridgerated tea already made and reheat it with cloves, ground Cinnamon and ground Cardamom then strain and drink?

Is it ok to use ground cardamom?
Wonderful! A question, how long does it last in fridge?
I don't know, but I feel it's not as good if it's not fresh.
Do not store it..have to make fresh...then only spices work on body...
What if I only have ground cardamom

Hello. How much ginger powder should I add to 4-6 cups of water?
Your famous delicious chai! Yum! 😋
Yummy, where can I get the ingredients?
In the description
Which is this tea powder
Can show me a website of the tea kind you got so I can buy the same?
Any black tea works. It secret is with the spices used
Sorry if this question has been asked, but can a milk alternative be used and still get the same flavour?
Milk powder 😊😊😊
I drank this 3 years ago and i have not slept since 👀
No nutmeg?
I'm highly allergic to peppercorns and black tea. What substitute can I use? I'm currently making it without these 2 ingredients. Let's see how it comes out.
You can substitute black tea with Arjun Bark powder. Can find in Indian grocery stores or on Amazon.
How many servings does this make?
What does steep mean in that term?
can i use condensed milk to substitute heavy cream?
Yes, you can, but don't add sugar until you taste it as the condensed may be sweeter than milk.
