Hello! My name is Savva and I’m a big turtle fan and lover. Your Rooster is soo incredible, he looks really like a dinosaur.(By the colour of its eyes, it’s a male). I must confess that I’m an owner of my red-eared slider turtle whose name is Ivetta. She’s is a ferocious predator and she lives in a big pond of my residence. I’m also an overprotective father(father because I’m a 15 year old boy) and I live in the South of the France. However, winter is cold but without snow and it’s November, so it means cold is coming. Fortunately, Ivetta have hunted and eaten enough during the spring, summer and the half of the autumn(September till the end of October). She has developed a hyperpredation(it means that more than 70 percent of her food is meat) and her food is actually and usually lizards, frogs, fish and insects, she loves to eat them. Every time and during this year, I have been coming to her cozy pond with treats(I mean with full protein food). I’m your fan in Instagram and I have seen your wonderful videos many times. So, I wish that Rooster will achieve his hibernation successfully and I wish to you to continue to be a good and successful blogger about herpetology. Since I was little, reptiles and other animals have become my passion and I’m still passionate about them and learn new facts about those impressive creatures. See you soon and thank you for this interesting video. Have a great life!
I dampen the soil a little in mine then add like 3 dozen night crawlers- then he gets exercise during meal time - I do leave mine out all winter but mine can dig as deep as they want- I don’t think rooster would make it outside with leaves think the weigh of the snow would suffocate him - just my 2 cents lol
I'm from Newfoundland and winter is brutal here too awesome video and a lucky little turtle and beautiful also . Love watching him go all around his winter home
hey Kayla, I am in the twin cities area and raising a group of 8 Eastern box turtles . Similar climate to you so I also bring in my herd for the winter months into a custom enclosure. Nice to see how you have yours setup. I am interested in getting mine setup in the garage or wine chiller, my wife wouldn't go for putting them in the main fridge, something where they can naturally shut down for the winter but not be at risk of our extreme cold. Easterns do naturally range in Michigan and Maine which gets pretty comparable climate and feel with climates shifting, outside year round might also be in the future. Anyways great to come across your content. I am in the works of starting my own youtube about turtles/fish/etc.
It's Kayla🪳!!! The OG🚁🐢Momma😆👍 I 💯saw the Rooster Boy crack a smile while on walkabout in his winter indoor retreat. Down in the Dirt - Rooster🪳🥰 His next album, Muddy Waters?🤪 yeah, K.🪳 sounds escape me as I stand up after sitting down. So trust&believe that they'd also be made when lifting a loaded tote.😆 Stay safe&cozy in the upcoming Canadian☃️Winter. ✌️🐺❤️
A happy compromise if you have a cold part of the house/garage where he's not in full exposure of Mother Nature. I'm going to make a glass panel burrow as everything will be kept outside all natural.. I understand about being an over protective turtle mom lol and would do the same. 🤘😆🤘
Kayla, so glad he didn’t have to spend the winter outside I do however love his outdoor enclosure. Is so large any thoughts of getting him a roommate? Thanks for the vid
Greetings from south Florida (Fort Lauderdale). Yes, our winters are brutal too. It's November 2 and our temps are already dipping into the mid 70's F (24C) 🥶
umm,I live in the Tampa area, born and raised in Miami..70 degrees is NOT cold😂 she is talking about negative 30 degrees cold🥶🥶🥶🥶now that is freaking insane brutal cold,I wouldn't really call 70°f "BRUTAL" 🤷♀️
Poor Rooster having to leave his summer home in the Hamptons for a studio flat in Manhattan, although you did a tremendous job furnishing it! Edit: We need a Rooster walks on leaves ASMR video
What part of Canada are you from? I’m from north east Minnesota where I have- 30 to -40 lows My Sulcata’s enclosure is the kitchen. When I build the new house next year should I video the build. It’s going to be different. Keep warm
@ My first Sulcata Ms. Max was a rescue from a very bad situation . When I got her she was 4.4 once’s back in February, now she’s 30 once’s. And the second one was adopted from Snake Discovery two weeks ago and Slow Moe is such a joy.
@kaylaroach well living down here in sunny Florida where it's WARMand you can help all year lol Well going off a conversation from 30 years ago I bought some full size crickets from the bait shop and set them up. Used a large tote, water dish with sponge, egg crates, romaine lettuce, and either chicken feed or peat moss for substrate. I watched them prob and lay eggs and after a couple days I could have fed them off and then waited but this was my first time. It wasn't long at all and I had pin heads, oh and another reason to feed off adults cause they'll eat the babies. PS, that book you wanted at TINLEY is a PDF for like 20 bux USD if you didn't read it in my other post.
Hi I watch your videos I see you have a mangrove snake I bought one from BHB and I am having shed….. I can’t figure out why I do have snakes I am a small breeder….. I was wondering if there is something you can help me with suggesting I can’t……. Thanks

Amazing winter habitat for your turtle! What will you feed him during the winter? Tasty earthworms?

Thank you! That’s awesome! Those are some lucky lizards.
@@kaylaroach Rooster doesn't understand how lucky he is to have you, many people even keep their turtles without uvb!

Glad you mentioned how horrible feral cats are to the environment. Many folks think they belong there lol
They are destructive! They’ve driven so many species to extinction! Another human-caused problem, yet again. They belong indoors!
@@kaylaroachCouldnt agree more. Its never an issue when feral cats kill native wildlife but when a coyote kills a cat its like the end of the world.
