I'm so relieved to find this video. I did a lot of (I'll be it, rushed) research in order to rescue a previously abused dragon that needed a gone, and is used styragoam instead of insulation foam. After continuing my research (and realizing i had used the wrong 'foam') I panicked that the styrafoam wouldn't be reptile safe or heat safe (after having already spent two weeks on the background paint, sealant layer, etc. Having made it permanent) i scowered the internet for confirmation to avoid having wasted $400.... so relieved to find this.
My dragon outgrew this size, so I’m going to build him one now! The habitat makes such a difference for the guys !! They’re the sweetest ever! He loves my grandkids and pups! His previous owner obviously loved him too. I’d love to know how old he is. This habitat is incredible!! They deserve the best ever💖
What a beautiful enclosure. I’m sure the Beardie is going to be super happy with it as well as it’s human(s). ☺️ I’m glad you started this channel. There are those of us that really enjoy watching your builds!🐍❤️🐍
Hopefully you added a water bowl and feed with a bowl. Also if you haven’t learned since this. Always break up the roots from potted plants or they will become root bound and die. Sherpa does that if you’ve seen.
So when your substrate eventually becomes dry, although it has sand on top of it how would you go about rehydrating the substrate? Would i just spray water on top of the sand/substrate? Could i mix the sand in with my substrate mix instead of using it as a top layer as well?
I 100% agree with you about the Bio dudes plant and mailing abilities. I ordered plants for a bioactive build. By the time they got to me, all but one were dead from frost bite. I was pissed. Then I ordered a Exo terra 18x18x24 tank. It was shipped and arrived broken. So I reordered it and again it arrived broken. I will not be using his business for anything else. I’m done!!
and honestly, without the sand addition on the top layer, wouldn’t this be a good substrate/setup for a leopard gecko? a bit big but i’m mostly referring to the substrate and plants
First thing first, thanks for putting names of all the plants you used, it's very cool, Question from Europe follower: you have Drylock, we don't, do you know an alternative or maybe the generic product so that i can find something similar that i can actually buy , thanks in advance 🦎❤️
Looks wonderful! I would be curious to see if the plants survive the beardie. My leopard gecko trampled almost all of my plants and the isopods die in the enclosure no matter what I try. So I might have to tear the thing down and go for more basic vivarium instead of the arid one.
@@thebarefootbuilder6349 I'm using the large orange isopods and springtails that should do well in arid environments. I think it's because the substrate is for arid environments and dries out almost instantly. I do have humid pockets under cork barks and between rocks but they dry out fast even tho I spray it twice a week. And my earthworms died because I had to spray it so much. Maybe the complete substrate change will fix it.
He does say thx for the inspiration. Also, we all have adapted a way to make our enclosures and it came from the same few people. Regardless, they have 2 different styles and that's what I love about watching other people's builds.
@@kylesawyer64 your point? If someone figures out an efficient way of doing something, why would you not follow their lead? You’d have to be pretty prideful to see someone do something in a fantastic way then say you’re gonna try to do it a complete different way solely because you don’t like the idea of doing something the same way someone else who does it for a living figured out works best. The reason they use the paint in this order is because they want the red/ brown to stand out with a layer of dark underneath to add dimension and to make it easier to tell where they’ve already painted and where they haven’t when they go in to do a second coat with another color.
Hi! I watched this becuase I was thinking about getting substrate for my beardie so she can dig. The only problem im seeing is how do you clean up thier poop? My bearded dragon does really liquid poops sometimes, wich I can imagine would be hard to clean up. Great video!
I know this is an older video but does anyone know if the heat from the basking lamp would melt the styrofoam? Or does the coatings over it prevent that
using a mixture of play sand and soil is completely safe as they aren’t inclined to lick it, calcium sand is a disaster waiting to happen in any scenario!
How is the bio active enclosure going several months later? Is it hard to maintain? Dragon happy and healthy? Looks awesome would love to do one myself.
Will big thanks to you, I've been wanting to learn how to do this myself. I have 2 ball pythons and I want a background slash hide for them in their enclosures. So glad your doing this, this setup is spectacular. Question if I wanted an enclosure built do you have contact info or is this for fellow youtubers only?
Gorgeous!
I love the way the appearance of the rock ledge came out with the sand sprinkled over the terra cotta splotches of paint

Great job explaining things! Building a foam background is one of the most interesting projects that just about anyone can get into!

I lied! This tanks bigger!! I’ll look for one before trying to build one , although! I wanted to build it to make it for this fellow!!
Great job! I love watching Tanner and your build was just as relaxing and awesome as his!!! Can't wait for the next one!
Thank you 🙏
@@thebarefootbuilder6349 I've been a fan since you were the camera guy for Chandler!!

Fabulous! Can you list all the products you used to create this? Thanks.
So gorgeous 😍 and such a relaxing thing to watch. I want one so bad!
Leaving all the work behind I sat sticking my eyes to your awesome job. It's for sure the magnificent work that is rarely seen.❤

One of the nicest rock walls I’ve seen !
Love this! I love the natural red tones really beautiful
Great build! So excited for this Chanel, you do amazing work!
I love the way this came out, Will you’re extremely talented with a great eye for details
Turned out really cool Will!
Thank you!
Very beautiful. I think my Beardy would luv it
Absolutely beautiful.
That was awesome. My bearded dragon would love one. He has a vivarium now but I need to upgrade him. I love your videoes.
Another awesome build by will
Thank you man 🙏

*Very* surprised to see a cryptanthus in an arid enclosure. You usually see those in tropical setups.
very nice, wish we can see the beardie in there lol
I tried to go bioactive one time. My lizard dug up the plants constantly lol
Holy moly this is a great job. However, your tanner step sure looks white. You added a lighter shade of brown?

Are you using arid bugs? And giving them moist areas?

What’s the point for the dry loc?
What happens when they go potty ? How do u keep clean. Do u ever have to change out the substrate?
Would this be big enough for an adult bearded dragon?
the exact same as serpas desighn

@@danielleb.7055 I mean, he even used the same colors in the same order.

Are u using drylok with other paint added or just acrylic paint on its own thanks
That enclosure is pretty slick WillZilla. l wonder what one for a salamander would look like.
That will be posted soon Mike 🤫

Loved the build, but can you list all the items with links that you used? Thank you
How do you keep your humidity in check in this?I would think it would be way to high
Love this idea. You may have given me a new fun project. Will you be doing any larger type builds for maybe a red iguana or something similar?
Thank you and on this channel I will be doing all types of building so stay tuned 😊
What type of dry lock are you using? The UGL dry lock fast plug?
Did you use normal Styrofoam, ie the kind used in boxes to stop items from moving/breaking or was it a special type that requires purchasing
You sound just like Robert breedlove from the “What is money” show on yt. It’s tripping me out 😂
What’s the name of the song at 4:50?
@the Barefoot Builder - What brand pain did you use?
I know this is an older video but does anyone know if the heat from the basking lamp would melt the styrofoam? Or does the coatings over it prevent that
hey could you by any chance tell me the name of the tank your using? Thanks.
What kind of paint did you use?
Were the heck is the dragon
what isopods did u use?
Did you have problems with the paint staining after drying? I used the same paints as you and every time i run my hand on it it's stained
The paint on the side of the tank?
Hey, I know this is kinda late but what kind/brand of soil did you use? I’ve read that topsoil doesn’t grow plants well
Repti soil is better, top soil dries way to much
Nice
Sand is pretty bad for beardies as it causes impaction and they can digest sand
using a mixture of play sand and soil is completely safe as they aren’t inclined to lick it, calcium sand is a disaster waiting to happen in any scenario!
Good job on the setup but this looks very similar to a design by serpa design js
so boidude isn't good source for plants ?
I don’t think so I was very disappointed in what I got from them as well as it took over a week to get it…
How is the bio active enclosure going several months later? Is it hard to maintain? Dragon happy and healthy? Looks awesome would love to do one myself.
To my knowledge it’s still doing great talk to the lady about two weeks ago!
How can we pay u to make one

Poor lizards inhaling toxic byproducts
I’m sorry what are you talking about exactly?
