    I have the Smash spinning Combo ($79) and I recently got the Baitcaster Infinity. I’ve just grown to really like Lews a lot.

    Very impressive reel! 2020 was my breakout year for bass fishing and took an early liking to LEW’s reels. I really like the centrifugal and magnetic breaking feature. Just picked up the KVD reel so it’s my most upgraded purchase so far. Need to check out the TFO rods for shure. Keep the post coming. Good stuff. Cheers from the Eagle Mountain Lake area.

      Good choice on the KVD. It’s a great reel, and looks great too. I love mine. I need to get out to Eagle Mountain sometime. Never fished it.

    Got an LFS and really like it. New to fishing so for me it is the best bang for the buck.

      I agree. The LFS is a solid reel and will last. There are cheaper Lew’s reels out there, but I feel like the Aluminum frame holds up longer. 👊

    I have a KVD & Tournament MP. Both are awesome reels. I think for the average (weekend or some tournaments) fishermen they are the best choice

      Absolutely, I have the saltwater LFS and the saltwater custom. Haven’t used a bad one yet really. Most recent purchase was 2 off the KVD reels and the PRO SP for skipping & pitching

    I just purchased a Lews hypermag and can't wait to use it. You paired yours up with the TFO 7'3 heavy fast? I'm looking to get a 7'3 myself

      I purchased the TFO 7'3 heavy, so I'll have the same set up as you. I also love using swim jigs, so it's going to work well with what I'm going to be using it for. Thanks for the video. It helped.

      One still works fine. Two however both had drags lock up. While trying to free the drag (turning it to loose as possible), it still would not free up and trying to force it just destroyed the gearing and now it is trash. I have no desire for any more Lew reels. Two out of three is just terrible. IMO. I have Abu Garcia reels that are 30 years old and still work.

    • @FishingtheLoneStar
      @FishingtheLoneStar  Рік тому +1

      @@APBT-Bandog - if I’m not mistaken, that one is only offered at Bass pro, and has a graphite frame. I’d recommend getting aluminum frames or higher only. I have no fewer than 25 Lew’s reels, and not a single one of them have had this issue. And again, comparing Lew’s and Abu Garcia by brand name only isn’t apples to apples. You have to compare similar components.

    • @APBT-Bandog
      @APBT-Bandog Рік тому +1

      @@FishingtheLoneStar The Abu Garcias I was comparing it to were literally 30-40 years old. I fished a ton when I was 13-24 years old...but after that I pretty much quit as I entered a new stage in life. I however started fishing again when my son was 14...taking him out and we went through my old equipment, and bought some new stuff. My old stuff is still working and two of the new reals already broke. haha. I cannot help but find humor and disappointment in that. Studying up a bit, I decided to go back to either just Abu Garcia...looked up who owned them as I was also impressed with Penn. I found out Pure Fishing owns both...and that Penn is now ranked best in corrosion, so I ordered a few upgrades going with the Penn Fathom 200 series today to replace the broken Lews. Reliability is most important to me.

    • @FishingtheLoneStar
      @FishingtheLoneStar  Рік тому +1

      Penn is more of a Saltwater reel which is why it’s rated higher for corrosion. I guess my point was the cheaper end of any brand is going to break more than the higher end of any brand.

  • @jerridcejas81

    On your HyperMag do you have the TFO medium heavy rod or 7'3 heavy rod paired up?

    • @FishingtheLoneStar
      @FishingtheLoneStar  3 роки тому +1

      I throw it on the 7’3 Heavy. Mainly for swim jigs or paddle tail swimbaits with 1/4 - 1/2 oz weights and 17-20 lb flouro.

    • @jerridcejas81
      @jerridcejas81 3 роки тому

      Would it be good for chatter bait as well?

    • @FishingtheLoneStar
      @FishingtheLoneStar  3 роки тому +1

      @@jerridcejas81 - you can throw a chatterbait with it, but usually you want a more parabolic rod for chatterbaits. Instead of a fast action, look for a moderate action in the M to MH power range. I use the TFO Tactical Glass rod for chatterbaits. The 7’4 MH moderate.

    • @jerridcejas81
      @jerridcejas81 3 роки тому

      Oh okay. Yeah that makes sense. On the 7'3 heavy it can also be used for Texas rig and punching?

    • @FishingtheLoneStar
      @FishingtheLoneStar  3 роки тому +1

      @@jerridcejas81 - Yes. I have three is the same rod, and the third one is for Texas rigs. For punching really thick stuff, I’d move up to the 7’4 XHvy or 7’6 XHvy. You can definitely flip with it though.
