Omg whatta beautiful beautiful performance
@@thatfilmyguy_ I just finished. Completely blown away.
No way. Awful
@@we.are.all.barabbasWhat do you recommend for people with vision problems who are unable to read?
the andrew on andrew crime in this audiobook was disheartening
both Andrew Garfield and andrew scott were the voices that caught me like they were with you and Tom hardys voice is always noticeable so perfect choice
did yk andrew garfield played spiderman and tom hardy played venom
HOLY SMOKES. I finished the audiobook 10 minutes ago and im absolutely blown away by every aspect of it. The cast, the score, the adaptation! MY GOSH! This is how audiobooks are made!!! BRAVA! BRAVO!
isn't it amazing!? I couldn't believe it. Didn't think I could hear that story one more time and then I was hooked from the start. Couldn't stop listening.
Listening to this audio audiobook was my first ever time experiencing the story of 1984 and my first ever audiobook at all. It was INCREDIBLE! THE STORY AND THE ACTING AND EVERYTHING!
SOOOO GOOOD!!!!
I just finished 10 mins ago, too. Andrew Garfield is a fantastic actor.
Couldn’t agree more!!! The sound was absolutely on point as well. I was walking while listening to the book over my headphones, and jumped or turned around several times thinking that someone was speaking right next to me, when it was the book. It sounded so real, my brain believed it. I was absolutely immersed in the story. BRAVO INDEED!
Andrew Scott was truly terrifying in this role.
I was blown away by Andrew as Winston man I would love an actual movie with this cast now absolutely phenomenal
Holy shit that film would slap
Listening to it now it’s amazing! Giving me war of the worlds energy, the audio always hits so hard. I hope this becomes a favourite listen.
Tom Hardy as big brother is one of those things where he wouldn’t be my first choice but then as soon as I heard him I can’t think of anybody else doing that
This is a dream come true. 1984 is my favorite book of all time and Andrew Scott and Garfield my favorite actors.
It's truly a captivating story!
Sameeeeeee.
this is so cool! matt bellamy came on the screen and i shouted, out loud, “Matt bellamy??” and got a very strange look from my mom
I just finished the audiobook today and thought so many times “this is sounding like Muse” only to be blown away while watching this!
Rameshs preformance was outstanding when he was bargaining for his life it felt so powerful.
Absolutely LOVE Andrew Scott and Garfield!! They play off each other so well, I need to see them in a movie together!!
I was blown away by Garfield being tortured especially the rat scene that was crazy! Tom Hardy’s voice is always amazing
Scott's O'Brien is so menacingly understated! well done. Also, Hardy sounding like Bane was the perfect big Brother.
Andrew is a gift from God
Which one? Although: why choose one? For me it would be Garfield over Scott, but both are just wonderful
Both are phenomenal ❤
Garfield
@@DreamyCityGirl He is indeed 🥰
An amateur aural story teller like me can only marvel at how well this whole production came together. Every piece fit so well; my ears couldn't believe what they were hearing.
The sound engineering and design were a delight to my cochlea, the music moved the story through its twists and turns, the writing adaptation by Joe White is brilliant, and obviously the director and cast killed it. I've listened to it 3 times and every time I do, I hear something new and notice different facets of depth. The foley work is my fave part. I'll be thinking about how some of these sound effects were made for a while.
This is giving me goosebumps tbh. I love Orwell and his works with my soul. I am so glad zi get to live in a world where these wonderful actors and the team can bring the book to life as an audiobook❤
listened today at work, was so good! and as always.. an eerie warning of whats to come for us if we don't change things.
1984 is one of the three books I owe most copies of, together with Mrs Dalloway and The Portrait of a Lady.
I saw someone call this "woke" because of the cast but that's hilarious to me because you can't even see them.
Clearly that person is a complete lost soul 😂😂😂
I absolutely love this. Fantastic job cast members and audible
I couldn’t stop listening. How utterly harrowing and perfect all these voices are together. And the score!! Wow! A true feast for the ears.
Brilliant brilliant cast. as i write this comment i am nearing the end. my goodness, i am shaking in my seat. so good. so thought provoking.
This is such a delight! 1984 is one of my favourite books, and having such a perfect adaptation of a book I love is amazing.
Incredible work from all involved. Thank you. Tom Hardy was a perfect Big Brother.
Finished it this morning. Amazing.
I recently bought 1984 and something told me to wait for an audiobook because I just looked at the cover of the book and I knew that this would be a book that Andrew Garfield would read and sure enough he was doing an audiobook
ok
@@LTake-wz8biwhen did they say it is new? They just bought it recently
I am so psyched for you to read it with the audiobook now❤ I am sure you will love it!
@@LTake-wz8bi I didnt say it was new 😂
@@mowgli7_ I'm enjoying it so much it is a master class on how dystopians should be done
Finished this during 2 and a bit dog walks 😂. Incredible. Everyone involved should be proud. Perfect cast and to top it off Muse is my favourite band so loved the score and the Muse songs tucked away as background sounds. Brilliant listen

He was so so good!
Cynthia is such a star
This was a brilliant performance by all involved! I was blown away by the quality and creativity in bringing this story to life. Bravo! Hats off to the director.
This was exceptionally done
This blew me away I have listened to it twice and it’s just stayed with me. Andrew Garfield’s performance was incredible
I've wanted to read this book for such a long time (I heard about it from Matt Bellamy, because I'm a huge Muse fan!) and this made me want to start it TONIGHT. Amazing, I love this, and can't wait to listen to this as well!
Me too! Greetings from Brazil!
Music from Matt Bellamy…..cant wait to listen!
Brilliant!
Both of my favourite Andrews, one of them playing my favourite villain in my favourite book, AND one of my favourite musicians?! Audible I don’t know what I did to deserve this but thank you 😭🩷
Also I know you knew what you were doing casting Scott as O’Brien 😅
Just finished the audiobook WOW is brilliant
This is fantastic. I need to go and buy this now. This needs to be a play and a movie. Everyone did an amazing job.👏
Its free.
Time to listen to this amazing book
I got it the same day it was released in the U.S.🇺🇸 April 4, 2024❤❤❤
Chukwudi Iwuji as Charrington, he is absolutely splendid!
Please interview The Andrews together
Amazing performance by Andrew Garfield and all the voice actors! It unlocked the reality of political systems across the globe, a sentiment echoed across decades. I hope more younger listeners run across this Audible book.
Romesh was wonderful 🎉
[SPOILERS THROUGHOUT]
I listened to the first part last night. The production, use of sound and voice acting is truly remarkable. It's the kind of thing I look forward to and hope for in an entire cast audio production. Not to be fancy, but the use of diegetic and non-diegetic sound very much grasps you, whisks you from place to place, and frankly scares the bejesus out of you when it needs to!! What gave me cause for concern, on the other hand, was the irony of Orwell's work being spliced down to a significant degree. I understand it is for the purposes of dramatisation; it needs to be snappier and to the point. And I presume Andrew Garfield and Tomas Hardy don't come cheap! The real problem came when I heard that one of the characters was being portrayed as a woman rather than a man. Insignificant, perhaps, but the REWRITING OF HISTORY is PRECISELY what the books warns about. Little by little, one seemingly insignificant detail by one seemingly insignificant detail., until one day, on looking back, what we thought we knew is completely unrecognisable. But what do I know? (I wonder what kind of reimagining the book will take by 2084? A feel-good musical perhaps?)... Furthermore, I'm sure this decision was made for reasons of punchiness, but actually going "behind" the telescreens and into the Ministry of Truth (?) and listening to the party members that are spying on Winston takes away one of the fundamental elements of the story; the Panopticon styled surveillance, where we ought not actually know if they *are* watching and listening to Winston! That was one of the main tensions throughout the whole book! Even though we know the tragic ending, it is the hope that perhaps Winston may get away in the end. This is one of the primary tragedies, and in this reimagining, that tension is completely removed. One final point I couldn't help but to feel uncomfortable about. Audible made this production. Audible is owned by Amazon. Amazon has a product called an Alexa (you may have heard about it). And Alexa [sarcasticly] definitely doesn't listen to private conversations! Wink wink! So I wondered why this production, why now, and why in this manner?! Perhaps I'm entirely off the deep end. (I don't deny it!). Still, the decision I mentioned earlier about how we get to go "behind" the telescreen and listen to the spying, I think that's a little reminder that the people who run the largest, most profitable and all-pervasive business in the world, that have Alexas and Ring cameras in many houses, want you to remember that, as Tomas Hardy so eloquently puts it, "Big Brother is always watching you"...
I have read the book with the love story in mind this time around and it’s tragic!
If love wouldn’t take the pain of a loved one but people do take the pain for whom?
Where can i find the music from the audiobook? So impactful I would love to listen in my free time!
Just finished it.
Well that was terrifying.
"I told you to not let this happen. You had ONE job." -george Orwell in his last interview
I cannot believe 4 of my favourite actors are in one place to do the one narrative I hate the most, what cruel fate is this? 😭
where can i find the songs that Muse made for this audiobook?
What are some other titles recorded in this style?
Where can I listen to it
Well… on Audible.
Where/how can I access the entire audiobook?
You can buy it on audible. Planning to do it myself
Audible
Julia sounds like Emma Stone, so it was Emma Stone in my head while listening to it
Andrew Garfield is so phenomenal! Absolutely talented!
And Andrew Scott, his voice was so soothing
so inclusive
It looks great, but the DEI is laid on pretty thick 😂
this should be a damn play.
or it should be a film with the very same exact cast.
I wouldn't describe 1984 as strictly Orwellian.
Next project: Animal Farm
Ooooo Animal Farm is so good! That and Fahrenheit 451. I managed to make tons of connections lol
Do NOT comply with Digital ID or it will be the last choice you ever make as a free person!
Spoiler Warning ‼️‼️, don’t watch it before listening or reading!!!! 2:14
I've listened to promotional excerpts of this production, and i'm sorry to say that the tone and inflection are all wrong. 'O'Brien' is not shouty, for example. "Reimagining" a classic text isn't always the right choice.
That little boy who rewrote this classic needs to be sent to the gulag. Its cringe and got the story wrong
How so?
1984 is a criticism of authoritarianism, this dramatised retelling still gets that point across perfectly
I’m sure the performances are great with talented voice actors, but irony that most probably think big brother is what MAGA would become left unchecked. They don’t see that the the woke progressive movement are the ones rewriting history and compel all to fall in line with group think
What is woke?
@@eringate Ironically, 'woke' means becoming aware of social injustice. The term has been hijacked by those who deny racism, the genocide of the indigenous peoples in North America, are anti-LGBTQA+, anti-vaccine because they feel threatened. Who is 'rewriting' history? 'The term 'woke' is a prime example of doublethink. How did it come about? Some people have lost the ability or the drive to use critical thinking. They want to be told what to think, how to act, who to hate.
You clearly don’t really understand 1984.
It is a criticism of authoritarianism.
Wanting all people to live equally and freely is not that.
Also, orwell was a socialist.
Let that sink in
A woke 1984. Just what we've all been asking for
It's an audiobook you absolute basement dweller
That's so interesting... I just came on here looking for where I could find this -; if there's any place other than Audible. A few minutes ago Glenn Beck just highly recommended it on his program... this specific version that was just released on Audible. Glenn said it was amazing and highly recommended, he's one of the least woke people i can think of right now. Maybe he wasn't paying close enough attention to the woke references 🙃
@@paulae4983
Looking at the cast, I find it hard to believe they would intentionally make anything that delights people like Glenn Beck
I mean, yes? 1984 is a warning against fascism. It's always been thematically progressive/woke.
@@paulae4983 It is sad that woke became an example of doublespeak. It is frightening that those who do not want to learn from the history of injustices are hellbent on repeating it.

What is woke?
Imagine the irony of being a woke leftist and liking 1984.
Imagine reading 1984 and using the terms "woke" and "leftist" unironically
1984 isn't a criticism of any political ideology it is a criticism authoritarianism
You know orwell was a socialist, right?
This sounds good
i want to listen to the musical score :(
I would love if they could release it waa stunning to listen too
