- We are sad to report that our Kami had cancer but are happy to report that after the amputation of her cancerous left hind leg, she is doing well and getting use to her new normal. Please watch the whole video to get the whole story.

One of my cats lost a back leg to a raccoon. When I went to the vet to pick him up, he would look at me and cry, like, "Do something about this!" It wasn't more than 3 days until he was used to it already. I tried to keep him indoors for 2 weeks & that was almost impossible. After that he would go outside, climb trees, fight with other cats, everything. He lived until his kidneys gave out when he was 18. I still have his ashes 30 yrs later. ☺️☺️
Goodness... When it rains, it pours. Poor Kami. I hope she recovers well, and I hope she and the rest of the family live a good long and healthy life, with no more nasty surprises. Well wishes to everyone!

So sorry for your pain and probably fear too. I found your channel a few years ago. I loved the cat tunnels and have never seen anything like that before. So wonderful. It's encouraging to know that Kami's still got most of her mobility as if to say, "Bite me, cancer! I'm still walking here!" and still kicking! Kudos to you and Kami; her being the resilient little black beauty she is!
It's hard when one of your kittys is sick, but to have cancer you always think the worst. I'm glad Kami is doing good now. Sounds like it was rough going there. I know with all the love n attention you gave to her helped her heal physically n mentally. 🐈⬛🐾🐾❤️🖤❤️

I am sorry you lost Thunder. I have always admired the gentle way you treat your cats and the love you have for them. A d I am glad you have updated us about Kami. She is really a beautiful cat and reminds me of our cat Brody who we lost a long while ago, but we will never forgaet him. He looked just like Kami.

I just lost my youngest feral rescue to cancer. He had squamous cell cancer on his nose for a year. His mom and brother both had it on their ears so their ear flaps were amputated. That was 12 years ago. They both did very well and recovered nicely. Sadly, my little boy had it on his nose which was inoperable. He was my little warrior and had become my protector. He is really, really missed. His mom is the only one left from that litter that moved in with me in 2008. Never regretted taking them in (four kittens plus mom) - they were a blessing. So glad Kami is doing well. I have been out the loop for awhile and didn't know dear Thunder had passed away. My sincere condolences to you and your furry crew. Best wishes.

I was holding my breath as you gave the report on Kami. I was kind of waiting for the other shoe to drop. I lost my Angel about a year ago; and I'm still not over the grief. My husband and I are having health issues. So adopting another kitty is not an option. I'll be Praying for the best for Kami. Please keep us posted. Good night.
Ah Doug. My heart is with you and Sharon for all of the hardship and pain you’ve endured with the kits lately. No one deserves that … especially you. It occurred to me recently that it’s been awhile since we’ve heard from you so I was hoping things were OK. My heart sank when I saw the title of this video but after watching it and learning the details I am reassured that you’ve made the right choices regarding Kami and her situation. She looks fantastic and very happy. I am confident she will continue to be the beautiful, silly girl she has always been. She appears to be adapting to her new reality very well (which is not a surprise). I am relieved to learn that her siblings are treating her with the love and respect she commands and deserves. Keep your spirits up and continue to enjoy the love and happiness you so richly deserve. I’m here if you need me. I love you all so much. 💖 Now if this heat wave will just go away…! 🥵

Awww, poor baby girl, cancer is a dreadful disease, as I've had two cats pass away from the disease, as it was found too late, (one at 18, and one at 14), but she's young and clearly loves her Daddy. Hope she gets better soon, she's a beautiful girl. Much love and hugs from England.
Good to hear & see Kami's progress. To hear the purr is encouraging. Her shiny coat. She appears to be content with life at the moment. The nausea is challenging for humans to go thru but we have meds for that. Have they given anything to help her with that? Or have you gone out to cut some fresh grass to offer her? Perhaps grow some in a flat for her since we'll be coming into fall soon. She can nibble at will.

It's challenging to lose a family member regardless of how many legs they have. Am still mourning the loss of Sammy 4 yrs ago. Due to my age, it would be unfair to get a youngster & like people, seniors get set in their ways of living.

Oh sweet Miss Kami! I’m so sorry she and your whole family are going through this. She is SO clearly loved and her purrs say she knows it. I’m glad the surgery went well at least and that she’s adjusting ok to three legged life. Oh no I hadn’t realized Thunder passed away - I’m so so sorry for your loss. He will be missed 💓 Cancer is monstrous but hopefully Miss Kami’s case isn’t so severe. Please don’t feel bad about not updating as you all emotionally heal from his loss and her surgery. Oh God, the past two months must be very harsh for Kami, you and Sharon. Kami is a strong and resilient fighter. She definitely knows how to live at the moment and strives to lead her normal life after amputation. Seeing her behaving contented and purring in the video is very impressive. And in the latter part, she can walk around in a very agile manner. Wish Kami stays strong and healthy forever. God bless you, Sharon and all the Kits Cats.
Oh my goodness. You have all been through a rough time. I’m so glad to see and hear she is doing so well. She’s so beautiful. I hope all turns out well for Kami. She certainly looks pretty content - hasn’t affected her purring, that’s for sure.
I found out last week my 15 yr old cat had cancer wrapped around her intestines and tumor was huge. She was suffering. They found a bad urinary infection a month before. She was put to sleep that day. I have 2 more cats. One of them is 16. We have to eventually lose them but it's so hard. You're so lucky cam is younger and an alternative was available. I pray you have a lot more time with her.
Kami is a real sweet kitty and so beautiful … she has cleopatras eyes.
So sorry for all the angst you’ve been going through with your cat family, but it’s fantastic news that’s Kami came out of this operation well and that she has adjusted to being a tripod cat now.

Oh my! My first black rescue cat had to have his left hind leg removed as well. His was due to him breaking his hip. Twice. Fortunately cats do very very well with only three legs. I think you made the right decision for her.
Well, you are having an unpleasant year! So sorry about Kami. They adapt so quickly though, and don’t have all the baggage that we humans do. I had a tripod dog, and she certainly never let that define her. They don’t stress about the permanence of things. She looks pretty happy, so you can probably relax for a while. Roodi is certainly talking up a storm, maybe he wants to know when it will be his turn for all the attention? You have the best cats! Better times ahead.

One point to remember is that animals like cats generally do not suffer the psychological damage from losing a limb that humans do. A human who loses an arm or a leg is deeply aware of their loss, can reason their reduced capabilities, and tend to dwell on th epast. Liek most animals though, a cat loses a leg and simply gets on with life. Of course it helps they have four legs, whereas we only have two, but generally speaking th emental trauma is far less and they are perfectly content to get around on three legs.

So glad you're sharing this story online. Hopefully it gives you guys some sort of relief just through sharing. Just had to let go my fierce lady cat (20) back in May. Always had/have cat fam members, but somehow she was one I had an extreme strong bond with. It's okay now. Meanwhile we adopted another super lovin furry black senior from the shelter. Still, it remains hard. But thank you so much for sharing and know that your subscribers/viewers are with you!

So sorry to hear about this. A kitty we had as a family pet (got her when I was 14 - long time ago I'm in my early 70s now) had to lose a front leg when she was 12 because of osteomyelitis. That was in the 1970s. She adapted and lived until she was 20. I do hope Kami continues to make satisfactory progress.

I foster orphan neonate kittens. Got one, a couple days old, had string around one ankle. I had to get him to 2.5 lbs for surgery. His foot fell off at 7 days. Called him the Purrate Boo. Adopter kept his name. He's so spoiled and leads a normal cat life. Same leg as Kami

My heart goes out to you and the family. It is great to see all the furkids are doing well, or at least better from their illness. I , too, experienced the sad situations with my pets - basically all of the things you have shared with us. My little black, tripod beagle-mix lost a back right paw/leg and also had the shaved area and staples. (I thought hard about what I had done to my little girl). My care required slings and carrying her up and down stairs for potty runs. Eventually the cancer symptoms came back even after the leg was removed and made complications that took her life (fluids and lymph growths in her chest). The urinary tract issues with 2 of my male kitties werealso part of the things to work thru. Cancer also took a 3rd kitty when it surfaced on her jaw and cheek. It is a lot to endure and then to make the decisions for how much they can take. Is it a quality of life for them to go on? *support hugs for you all* Thanks for sharing. All you guys are with me in my thoughts and wishes.♥
