Some cats are really weird with their tails. One of mine swishes her tail around any time she's thinking, which includes excitement. She'll even hit me over the head with her tail while rubbing me and purring her little heart out. XD

Cupcake's real name is Taeja but we started using Cupcake (at the suggestion of a YT fan) because most commenters couldn't spell or pronounce Taeja properly, but we mostly call her Tiggy now. Roodi was named for Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer as he had a red nose when he was a kitten and Kami came to us with her name already, I think it's a name of a spirit or something in Japanese folklore.
