I've got one from Baraban. You got to grease the handles to get rid of the squeaky noise, apart from that it's a top quality product. Pull on it and it's exhausting. It burns, burns, burns!

I bought the Baraban Chest expander a few months ago, and have used it several times a week with great results already. Compared to the Baraban expander, previous ones I owned now feel like toys.

Alex Leonidas put me onto them so I got one from Robert Baraban but the dang thing got drenched on its way to Australia and started to corrode!
Robert was a total legend and sent me another one straight away. Really keen to see if having one of these on hand will give me some desperately needed upper back and posterior delt gainz 😂

I ordered mine on 25th, still waiting for it. Can't wait! I was going to order the exact Amazon one you had in the video, as Baraban's expander is quite pricey for a good ol' broke student, but good to know I've made the right decision by going all in.
I've been using Robert's expander for a couple months or so now. At 6 and 5 springs for all my exercises. 45 minutes, 3 or 4 times a week. Getting stronger and bigger. Just finished a workout, and having steaks and eggs for brunch. Can't wait for the bigger springs! Take care.

I'm so glad I found legit old chest expanders on second hand stores. Found one that was hella rusty and later on one that was pristine. Got rid of the rusty springs but kept the handles and later on found a third weird one with a spring in the handle in which you attach springs. Threw those 3rd handles away so now I have 2 really good quality chest expanders. Your videos and Forgotten Fitness inspired me to get them 😀

I bought the chest expander sold by Micheal H. Brown. I believe each (latex?) band was forty pounds in resistance and as many as you could pull could be placed on a unique triangular handle. I have steel cables from Dan Lurie to Whitney and the Micheal Brown cable set is my favorite.
Great video i myself have always been a fan off them having watched my Dad use them since the 1980s .
I actually am a collector of them having liked them so much i have collected up 8 off them all are Spenby brand English made they all are between 40 - 60 years old and still work perfectly fine
This is why i love this channel everything about it is old school and things from the past

I’ve bought from taobao a Chinese shop like amazon where there exactly the same robert baraban quality chest expander with maximum 70kg resistance, and 17 steel resistance springs. 7 plus 10 extra.
That thing can rip off your scalp or chest hair if you're not careful.
Just a thought, Fred Rollon must have done Progressive Overload on Chest Expanders having the Customize Expanders to increase upto 300libs in Tensile Strength, Much like Specialized Lifters (Olympic Lifts OR Powerlifters) did a few Chest expanders exercises, I take it 'Horizontal Pull' as his Main Expander Exercise to Continually (Porgressive Overload) increase 'Pull' developing his Grip & Strength to a High Degree!

I can't afford the Robert Baraban chest expander, but I have ordered a cheap one from Amazon. Once i max that out, could i buy a second one and clip more on, or is there no room for that. Thanks
I'd really like to try it. Was a bit outside my budget at the moment. I had an amazon one which didn't offer enough resistance so I bought some better springs for it, but the handles broke from the tension. I have a couple of steel gymnasts rings which I'm using for handles with my springs and getting very good results. Would like to purchase Robert's at some point

How is the quality of the cheaper chest expander's metal springs? If they are 5 kg each, they could be useful for building up on the Baraban expander. I'm approaching 5 springs on Baraban's expander, but it would be nice to make a 5 kg rather than a 10 kg weight increase. Thanks.
Ok, I've been sold, well done. Actually the product sells itself. Was looking into getting a chest expander for a while but haven't gotten one because I didn't want to buy a shit product from China. Baraban's fits the bill in all things quality, I'm gonna have to order one soon.
Another curiosity I have is do these things actually help expand the total surface area of the chest? I know they're primarily for working out due to tension, but I've heard a rumor that silver/golden era bodybuilders (particularly Arnold and those of Vince Gironda's school) experienced a secondary benefit in that the chest expanders had some sort of effect on the ribcage itself, essentially expanding one's inner frame/ribcage, enabling a greater surface area for muscle to be built upon. Sounds like pseudo-science to me, but is this actually true?

In any exercise equipment you pay for quality, you pay for junk. I have a 60 year old hand gripper with springs that are like new . Great video!

Nice video man. However, are you sure Robert Baraban chest expander has 10kg each spring? When I exchanged email with Robert Baraban, they have told me each normal spring is 7.5kg each. So together they should be (7.5kg x 7 = 52.5). The stronger big springs are 25kg each (you can attach 4 of them as they quite thick.. so together those are 100kg).
Robert Baraban's expanders are the best in the world without question, but unless you are dedicating yourself to expander work long term I don't think the price is justifiable, especially when you look at the 300 Euro Rollon model, anyone wanting to do dedicated expander training will want 2 of whatever model they are using.
Having said that if you do want to take that route you simply cannot do better than Barabans equipment.
Im gonna pull the trigger on the nice one soon enough but in the mean time I bought that cheap wood handled one from amazon and I've been enjoying it. Still looking for somewhere I can get replacement springs for the thing. Anyone know where I can get some replacement springs.

Just wanted to update this thread in case anyone else had read it, I paid by bank transfer, and its a lot more complicated to process, alot of people order and never send payment so it takes longer, its easier to pay by Paypal, but Robert is a lovely guy
@@teaking1981 I used PayPal and just another heads-up: I think it took 6 days to get to the next stage. The tracker currently says that the shipment should arrive today. If that's the case, the whole process from order to receiving the purchase took me about 20 days.
