Elton John at his absolute peak
There aren't enough words to describe this musical event. This is a piece of history. Elton, his songs and a piano, no need for any other instruments. Elton has always been above most all other musicians in consistent songwriting and these early concerts are proof that he is one of the all time greats, Beatles, Elvis and Elton (not in order of greatness) !!!!
So relaxed. Sounding great. He's having fun. I'm 70 . Highlights of my 20s were rushing out to by Elton's new album and play it on my hi fi that i had spent a fortune on.
One man, two instruments, mesmerizing. No lipsync. No backing tracks. No dancers. No lightshow. Just talent overflowing the stage.
Took me a while to realise he was on his own 😂
Prefer the original candle in the wind to how he sings it now - the phrasing seems all wrong and sung with less feeling than when it was originally sung
Captain Obvious! 😂
And he was probably stoned
There was one dancer…. A tiny one.
I think your point is that today's music sucks and you're 100% correct!!
I love this era of Elton...my teens for sure! I also loved after he got sober and he did the Believe Album. His voice had matured some, but he became an even better singer during that time. And his piano...especially on Belfast! His vocals on Believe...such a great album. He had the most range in his voice during this era though...love him so much!! Keeping him in my prayers. Bernie is amazing as well...what a lyricist!!
I love Elton but one time in an interview he said about Freddy Mercury that the world wasn't a big enough stage for him and that was the greatest compliment he could have ever given to someone like Freddy so thank you Elton for all the great music and all the kindness you've shared with us love you your the best...
Elton y Freddie fueron grandes amigos.

thanks
this whole thing is just unbelievable. he is mesmerizing. all by himself. and his friggin piano. he is off the charts
And most people don't realize how difficult it is to make any piano sound good. I have been trying for over 3 Decades and when I play a piano It sounds like a cat is dying...

Keep practicing 😊
Wow, his voice is so clear, and he reaches those notes like they’re nothing! This brings back so many memories, but ahh…what age does to us. 🫤
Beyond words. Simply astounding on every level. Those of us who grew up with this man's music are truly blessed.
Can’t stop watching this concert, stopped counting. Skyline pigeon is a gem.❤❤❤❤
Peak EJ. That voice, still 100% intact ...and his incredible piano playing.
Nothing short of brilliant every second from the master at his peak.
That was magnificent. No light shows, dancing, extravagant costumes and all that folderol. Just one man, one piano, and one hell of a lot of talent.
Just an awesome talent. He was a star long before everyone knew. Still a great performer to see live.
My beloved Hercules. This was my favorite era of his. He was untouchable and would absolutely wipe the stage with anyone from todays crop of computer musicians.
Amazing vocals. Just incredible.
Beautiful songs ❤
Watching this concert really made my day. In the 70’s I worked for MCA Records in San Francisco and around 1976 there was an MCA Convention in LA and Elton performed a solo piano concert for all the staff. Just like this one. That musical experience was one of the greatest of my concert experiences in my career and life to this day. What a gift this UA-cam concert is to me. Thank you Sir Elton 😊
Wow! What an amazing experience! He is a musician who can just sit down with his instrument and entertain someone for hours and hours. Elton John inspires me to practice the piano.
I've also enjoyed that experience with Soul Train. My good buddy was the executive in charge of production. He came to do Philadelphia and I had VIP clearance. After filming he just continued and I was sitting al.ost in his lap.
I'll never forget that day or my friend RIP.
This is the Elton I grew up with. One and only one Elton.
Me too.
天才の最盛期を捉えた貴重な映像、有難うございます♬
The great Elton John. Love these performances from the great 1970s.
*Elton John has been the soundtrack of my entire life since long, long time ago. A remastered person, he's still standing after all this time. Blessings to Sir Elton John. 💓🇧🇷🙏*
@wagnercabrerisso5986 Hi! I'm right there with you.😊I was age 11 in 1972 when my oldest brother Peter introduced me to Elton John's music, on an 8-track tape. I've been in love with Elton & his voice & his piano-playing & all of his songs ever since.❤When Elton was born in 1947, God blessed us with the joy & genius that characterizes this man's music.🎩👓🎹🎶🌹🎤🇬🇧🤩
Amen to that - god gifted him & us and gave him the strength and perseverance to survive a celebrated life and all that it must entail
So
This is definitely one reason to love and appreciate youtube....isn't it just radical to be able to have this type of thing available at our fingertips? I remember 12 channels on the TV dial and only about 3-4 of them actually got steady reception - I'll take this over that any day.
I've just spent an hour being a teenager again. I remember the feeling of listening to this man and his piano for hours on end. Love his voice and his piano playing. These and more are ALL my favorites. It's time to pull out these old albums and listen to them again, scratches and all
What an awesome evening for the folks lucky enough to experience this in person...fantastic...thrilling to see this here for sure.
Sixty Years is so powerful! Elton at the top of his game.
I don't know how it's even possible, but soft rock music can make me kinda nostalgic for a world I've never been and never seen. It calms down and gives a feeling of infinity of time as if our life is not so short at all. It gives me meaning and desire to keep living through this difficult time
6 years after 1970 performance and he has made it! I knew he would be a brilliant, soulfelt musician. Music was and will always be my life. I have the wonderful ability to feel it from heart to soul. He hit my soul when 11 years old. Now at 64 I can still feel the magic. Congratulations Elton....love you always ❤⭐️👏🫂🌠🎼🦅💯
👏👏
Well expressed...I was 6 when i first fell in love ... now I'm 60...I cry every time I watch this video...where does time go?
I’m a 71 year-old piano player, listening to Elton John since 1970. There is nothing better than listening to someone play and sing solo, as he does throughout this entire concert. There’s no band to hide behind. This entire concert is a masterpiece - top of his game - and Tonight” at 39:35 is a tour de force performance. Spectacular.
Dear friend, I'm from Brazil and I've been listening to Elton since 1970, I was eight years old. Well, I completely agree with your words...no band and this Sir does it very well. Hug
Wow no kidding! Phenomenal cut from Blue Moves.
what is the title of the 39:35 song?
I play solo guitar, and man I totally agree 100% I'm at my best without the mire.
@@staaaajn6311Tonight - from the Blue Moves album
The fact that he can hold that stage and keep my attention with songs I've heard a million times speaks volumes. Nobody like him ever.
Elton the Watford rocket man. The greatest. Ever. Forever 😎
Elton forever…💕💕💕💕💕
I saw him a year later and he was knackered. I think that he was really enjoying this concert unlike the one i saw where he seemed to be struggling. He announced his retirement. He was special talent, songwriting and performance. They don't come round very often. Just glad i got to see him.
Simply incredible
…An amazing 🎉musican Document, i like this Elton John Music Production period from 1969-1978, including „ Song for Guy“!!!!😢😂😢😊❤!!!!
One of the most amazing solo performanices of any kind that ive ever seen. takes your breath away
Great to hear so many from the elton john album. Your song always gets all the acclaim but i need you to turn to and border song were always my faves from that album ❤
Good luck in trying to get us all to live in peace elton. You know it's never gonna happen though dont ya
Raw talent as raw as it gets!
The one and only elton John.
👏👏
Hard to believe the quality of this ... from 1976 ... just outstanding. I've always loved and preferred Elton's solo performances. Shows how incredible of a performer he always was.
just a shame we know now that sweat comes from cocaine, and then he throws away Nigel and the guitarist, the Paris concert in 1978 was really sad and bad for my ear.
@@krystellbourgoin1825 So sad to hear, such purity destroyed by evil
@@krystellbourgoin1825 Yes, it has nothing to do with working hard under hot lights. No, you know better, right? SMH
Who needs anything more the Elton John and his piano Just perfection !
I'm 33 years old and thanks to my parents, I've listened to Sir Elton John since I was tiny. Lion King was my first introduction to him, but it definitely didn't stop there. I'm now in the process of trying to collect every LP of his to go in my vinyl collection. ❤ he is amazing.
Incredible...such power in his voice and his playing.

The only other song I think should have beenn on this show was writing. As soon as better off dead finishes I always listen to the antidote 😂

Simply the best, He was focused on this show.
Spot on. Piano vocals, And I think he stayed off the white stuff for this one. You're the best Elton!!!
Just came across this..I recorded this from the radio when it went out live (C90 cassette) and I
still have it
I wouldn’t be here today without this man and his music.
Some of his best playing.
Was at his final show; will never forget it or the others.
Musical savant; this show is a perfect example. Love it.
I feel very similar to you.
Next month a fan for 50 years.
Best Elton concert ever!!
I'm so glad I got to see him back in '75-'76 before his voice was gone... sad.
I still like his voice. He's lost his falsetto and some of his upper range after the throat surgery, but I still enjoy listening to him sing.
I love this incredible men, Elton John and Bernie
Perfection 😊
Amo a éste hombre 💜
Elton and a piano. Genius.
Kind of a shame that many associate Elton with his music from 1990 forward. He was amazing during the 70s and early 80s. One of, if not the best.
Elton John at his peak. I love the subtle variations in vocals, piano, tempo … an artist so in control of his beautiful music. Total admiration!!!
Sir Elton's music is forever cherished!
And half a century and then some later, he is still a songbird. He is a living legend. A man of honor. A champion for gay human rights. A loving husband and father. Extraordinary man ❤
Amazing quality for being almost 50 years old.
I was 10 in 1976. I was already a big fan due to "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road."
😊
voice + piano is a proof of an artist talent.
as a singer songwrite pianist myself - I hold Elton in the highest !!! LOVe Love - and Bernie Taupin is an amazing lyricist. together they are the best of the best ! I always Love Elton
Bernie Taupin is an pedestrian lyricist.
¡Qué hermosa joya! El maestro Elton, en su mejor momento. Gracias.
Oh my God that voice....❤
As a teenager growing up in New Zealand, I used to volunteer to wash and dry the dishes for our large family on Thursday nights because I would listen to the Top 40 hits on the kitchen radio. I was always mesmerized by Elton’s hit songs, which seemed to be high on the charts almost every week. What an amazing talent he has been for almost my entire life. Thanks so much for piecing this group of wonderful videos together.
Awesome
I saw The Man in Stockholm 1979. A single Man Tour. He had Ray Cooper with him. That was a fantastic night. He lost the track in Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and had to apoligise to the Royals in the Balcony. But that was nothing against this Masterpiece from Edinburgh. Thank you for uploading this. I’ll bet Elton is crying if he sees this. My God He was good at this time. I have seen him 4-5 times. Good and bad. But nothing like this one.
The true talent of Elton on full display….no costumes, backing vocalists, or theatrical bullshit….
Truly a treat. Great talent. What’s even more amazing is he grew all of his hair back…and then some.
"This is a new song..." and then he plays Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word, a stone cold classic. What a legend 🌟🌟🌟
Le jour où il quittera ce monde, il nous laissera un vide important dans nos vies 😞❤️😢en tout cas merci pour ce partage, pour autant fan depuis longtemps,je découvre encore d’autres chansons 🙏
Wow this is amazing!! THX for sharing!
Bicentennial year!! I saw The Beach Boys in DC 4th of July that year! What a great time to be a kid. Love Elton John. My dad had his 8 tracks
Even in his most excessive period … with all the drugs and pomp and sexual indulgences…. he still had this side of him where he could return to his roots and deliver a simple and mesmerizing performance…. always the utmost respect for his fans… we love you Elton, The GOAT!! 🎹 🤓
Freakin' fabulous....damn.
Bruh..What kinda crazy mofo plays an hour and a half concert solo, with just a piano. Glad I grew up during those days.
Only the greatest!!
❤❤❤❤❤😂😂🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😮😮😅😅😅😅😢😢😢😢😢😢😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
The MASTER OF THE PIANO IS GOING STRONG STILL, AND I HOPE HE FOR THE NEXT GENERATION OR SIX, HE WILL BE THERE STILL?!!!!!? ❤
PURE TALENT AT ITS FINEST!
This is such a great context to hear just how *unbelievable* Elton’s voice was in his prime. Songbird clarity, autotune-level intonation where necessary, pitchy where necessary. You don’t get that same effect on the records with so much other stuff going on underneath him.
People forget, or rarely noticed, his unbelievable vocal range - until you try to sing anything remotely like he could. And yes, the dashes of pitchiness are just funky flavors of a human voice (on a beer & coke buzz).
Tonight. Musical genius.
Blue Moves was such a fantastic album and seems to be overlooked in his vast musical repertoire. The song Tonight is as good as anything he has written (and I love most all of Eltons songs) and one of the great songs on Blue Moves. Chameleon, Where's the Shoorah, Idol, Boogie Pilgrim just to name a few.....Such talent!!! Thank you Sir Elton!!!!!!
Elton John excepcional!!!! Simplesmente MARAVILHOSO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Undeniably awesome talent!
I remember watching this on my local UHF station in 1976. I love this performance! Thank you, Bruh.
Having had the chance, I would have gone to that concert just to hear him play the piano on "Tonight."
Hugh fan! Have seen him many times; including him with just the piano. But this video captures the magic that I get from when I got it!
I wish we could see more of his hands playing the piano.
ohhhhhhh thank you !!!
I dig the clean and pure take on these masterpieces!!! Classy and Intimate
What is profoundly evident in this performance is the high quality of his vocals. He sounds fantastic here, sadly after so many tours and years of singing, he is now far from the clarity and range of this live performance here. Thank you for uploading this video as it was highly enjoyable.
When he was at his peak of genius. “Tumbleweed Connection.”
I was there! God this brings back memories. Thanks for posting it.
My god! How lucky you are! I love this show so much! Only Elton, voice and piano! My dream! 👌👌👌👌🫠
thank you so much for this concert
Me too ! Elton's been in the top 3 soundtracks since aged 11..bless you Luke for telling me about Elton!
I would like to own this on DVD his singing and piano playing are perfect on this. ❤
Outstanding
Great video! Love love
Totally Amazing..............Mr. Elton John.
OMG, an Elton song I've never heard before!? Beautiful!

That has got to be my favorite version of Rocket Man. He does such an great job with the solo and the end was amazing.
