I actually had a WeWork office in 2017... I knew it was unsustainable from the beginning because the startup culture in Seattle was pretty healthy at the time but even then unless your strategy was to mindlessly blow your funding WeWork was a bad investment. It’s cheaper to just rent a commercial space.
enron was much much worse - like actual fraud. different standards as well since wework never went public, not subject to the same level of SEC scrutiny
The employee who blew the whistle on Theranos got sued also. So when the Emperor has no clothes do you look everyone in the eyes and act like it’s normal or see the bits hanging out and say something? Kudos to the few who dig in and figure out what they are made of!
There are 7 episodes of this season. If you don't want to wait for the episodes to be posted here, you can catch the full series now on Apple Podcasts: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/foundering/id1161880916
The corporatocracy has thought of every scheme and maneuver to minimize worker rights to include waving an employees ability to seek justice before a jury of their peers as a condition of employment.
Please add the financial reality to this story - it’s an enormous part. Endless flogging about snowflakes is boring. This entire generation is a waste of time. They have already been bypassed.
$42k a year and she can't live on that?!? 80 hr work weeks? Time to move somewhere more affordable. That's insanity. In some places $42k goes a long way
Do you have a soundtrack for your intro/exit or what the title of those audio clips are? Could totally used that as background music while working - feels kind of nostalgic for some reason. LOL.
Tara or Kara (sorry I couldn’t make out her name) was getting underpaid by at least $7k by 2005 standards. For a job in San Francisco in 2015, probably getting underpaid by $12k.

I'm glad Joanna did not pay a heavy price for her honesty. She is a woman of character.

There’s something about Joanna’s voice that makes me want to get my manager. Idk 🤷♂️ why?
I think the whistle blower is a hero in this case and needs to be protected from the bullies in suits.
'Bullies in suits'? More like 'Nuts with no shoes'.
What specific crime did she uncover?
This is why you should insist your crooked employees get individual access to necessary work related accounts.
This is a great series i just discovered. I'm so glad you're still making them!
Whistleblower was clearly ethical people that didn't want to scam. They probably suspected Neumann was running a scam and do not want to be involved.
When your business model is "do what Enron did", you must be WeWork.

Thanks for your voice, thanks for telling their stories

Did yone else just randomly find this video and say oh ok
I found it randomly alright but rather blown away! Very well done!
This is some excellent reporting! I wonder how many episodes there will be.

@@business Thanks very much! :-)
Love this lady she is the type of person I would love to hang with and there should be more people like her in this world.
They so bad at managing money they didn't even cash in the law suit 🤦
Please make podcast on other start-ups too like Uber, Oyo too, eagerly waiting...
If there was a crime and cover-up, the employee who violated security to expose it would be a hero.
Instead, this doc is just a guilty pleasure :)

i experienced something similar in another multinational company
Really enjoying this insight.
Nice work, that's some great journalism there thanks.
I wonder how much longer this company can continue under Soft Bank ?

You also don't get overtime if you're salaried.
This has happened to me a few times. Lol.

WEWORK = Theranos

Adam Neuman looks shady and dirty.
Another company gone down, because the founder was way to ambitious and couldnt stick to his market
