- On our weeklong trip around Idaho, we stopped at Selway falls twice to run it. The first time the flow was around 11,000 and it looked very manageable, but the second time it was flowing 17,000 and it looked like there was a line, but it was super stout. We decided to run it and it went as well as it could have. I'm pretty sure this was the highest descent of Selway Falls.
From a white water rafter with a cougar aire cataraft I've seen Sellway falls and was scared somehow it would drown me standing on the road. I don't know how you guys do it in the kayaks. I ounce got in one in 3 feet of water in a Eddie on the salmon river immediately turned upside down and thought I was going to drown. You guys make it look so easy. Truly unbelievable!
Awesome soundtrack, great job guys, looks amazing.!! 🫡
You guys are nuts! Looks like a blast!
That is so awesome. When you went underwater it definitely got me nervous. Super sick
Not sure why this video showed up on my feed. I've never watched a kayaking video in my life but here I am. You got my sub buddy! Looks like a blast.
Holy actual fuck! That's RAD!
I remember chasing giant Clearwater steelhead around, starting nearly 2 decades ago, and when the big river blows out, the Selway was usually still fishable.... Point is.... We ran into lots of yakkers that would joke about running it at what I'm pretty sure was 12K cfs. Might have been 10K, but still....... . . ..... Yer fuckin nuts! Lol! Wildly entertaining video, and killer choice in music to go along with it! Kick ass dude!
Stouting up the local run! There are some serious sieves in that bad boy.
Dang! You guys are looking pretty small in those rapids. Nice line.
Beautiful country with lots of history.
Yeah you guys ordered up some serious stout.
That was intense af!
That was breathtaking man, yeewww
Personally, I would have run straight thru, to heck with that eddy...nice shots though!
Hectic man! Be safe out there!
Speed, angle and trajectory are everything in kayaking. You need to exit the top of the eddy with a proper upstream ferry angle to give yourself the speed and trajectory for the rapid and then you adjust your angle. Weaseling out of the bottom of the eddy with out a proper ferry angle kills your speed and trajectory, which is a recipe for disaster.
My heart was racing for you man just watching the video. A swim in these waters is almost certain death isn't it?
A swim would be pretty scary but I think you’d survive, especially because we had a lot of safety
I would have called it a success just to get in that eddy.
Haha it was a spicy eddy 🌶️
defintely not the idaho mega stout, you cant be calling it that sorry alec
