Series 14 - Episode 12 - A kidnap case leaves Vernon's carefully choreographed wedding plans in chaos, and Merton has to choose between his wife and his career.
Merton has to be my favourite of all the sergeants other than maybe Oscar.
My favourite sergent was Craddock.
Oscar was better. He was the "spiritual sergeant" of the police station. Not sure why people would like Craddock...he was soft as butter and he didnt like Oscar. Dennis Merhton was a good sergeant and he liked Oscar and respected him. Sergeant Miller...he was ok but again didnt like Oscar.
He was my favourite too.
Linda Kristine Kjølibråten I always thought that he was a bit heartless, but i did feel sorry for him when his wife left.
I like Miller and Rob! They are just so 💕Cute. Still Merton is my favourite
Not gonna lie... When I watched this episode for the first time a few weeks ago what Merton said there at the end got me
Jenny's performance is wonderful from that gentle pleasant character to the start of her dementia. Am sad that she ended this way. She & Merton would have made a great mainstay in the show. Merton is such a gentleman.
Was it dementia? I thought it was extreme anxiety/depression.

I always cry when thinking of this with Jenny. Such a wonderful person.... It's just a roleplay, but it's just so sad anyway.

Merton was my all time favourite Stg in Heartbeat! Loved him and Jenny together. Always thought Duncan Bell was a very handsome man a a great actor! It's just a pity he wasn't in it till the end.

Just watched this episode last night. Sgt Merton played by Duncan Bell was my
favourite Sgt in this long running series.
the originals were the best
I also think Sarah Tansey played the part really well as Jenny, wife of Sgt
Merton, having some kind of mental breakdown. She was so convincing.
and Duncan Bell played the part of loving husband Sgt Merton really
convincingly.
A brilliant couple. Also, the best version of How Can I Be Sure, covered perfectly by Dusty Springfield
Very sad moment. Loved Merton. One of my favourites.
Loved Sgt Merton and Jenny such fab Actoe and Actress Was sorry to see them come out of the story
Jenny had mania which is depression, not dementia.
Love this show in every aspect. Trying to find what happened to Sgt Merton and Jenny storyline. Also the funeral of Dr Summerbee. Yet to be shown possibly.

missing to much information . . can't get series 10 or 11 now most of 12 is also unavailable . . . sad what happened to Greengrass ? ? ? what about the PC that was married to a lawyer . . .why is he dating some doctor now ? ? ?
Mr Maynard, was injured, I forgot how, and was unable to continue in the series. He was wrote out of the program as having moved abroad. He passed away in 2010. Apparently he was the most beloved cast member. I try to keep up with what episodes I can see. I'm hoping to find at least one DVD set of either early or later years as I'm caught up on 2002/03/almost all of 2004. I did buy their 1st or 2nd CD (the music they played through season 2 iirc). The PC and the Barrister (Fiona Dolman) were both written out at close of 2002 series iirc. She played Inspector Barnaby's wife in Midsomer Murders. Don't know what happened to him.

What was Jenny diagnosed with
She had some kind of psycosis. I dont remember it's name. Sorry 🤷♀️
She was diagnosed with manic psychosis or probably as we would say bipolar disease. In real life she should have been checked for hypothyroidism as symptoms can sometimes mimic psychosis.

We were at Heartbeat country last week and we felt as like we was part of the show though. We missed Duncan Bell
I have not seen this show or this series though I have many of the Heartbeat seasons on DVD. I have to be honest here, from the last series I've seen with Jenny and Dennis I found her extremely annoying. Always complaining about Dennis not coming home on time, not being there when they were going to select curtains etc etc, I thought are you kidding!! The man is a police sergeant and has urgent police business and you're worried that he isn't coming home to select curtains!! Get real love. I don't know what's happened in this series here, but she pissed me off in all these earlier shows having a tanty over nothing and not realizing the serious role here husband was playing as a high ranking officer in the police force. If it was me, I'd understand this and happy to go and select curtains etc on my own or perhaps take a girlfriend and enjoy having time on my own and find hobbies I liked doing by myself. But that's just me! As I say I don't know what's going on in this later series.
You need to watch further, to understand that Jenny's demands were the start of her illness ...
I sometimes wonder if Sarah Tansey ******-off the Heartbeat producers as I felt, towards the end, she got some really crappy roles !. I liked both of them, Jenny & Merton !
