Great content guys! Also let us know how to find a rental aptt in toronto ; as I searched online and all I can find is condos and apartments .How do I differentiate between a normal apartment and a rental apartment . TIA.
Thanks Ruchika. So we have explained in the video that rental aptt is an aptt in a rental building and that entire building is for the rental purpose only. So infrastructure wise you probably would not be able to tell the difference. But a quick tip: Generally in rental building you can find a sign board outside for their rental office location and contact number.
Hey Ruchika, thank you for the QUESTION :D Your "normal" apartment is actually a Condo apartment. For finding a rental apartment you can checkout the websites in description box and contact the management info provided on the website for the apartments you like. You will find that rental apartments would look a little different from inside, compared to condos and would be cheaper as well for the same size, say a one bedroom. So to best way to differentiate is, In most cases you will need a real estate agent with you to go inside the building and view the condo apartment. While a rental building is walk-in and you will see the management name and contact details or office near the rental building. And you can simply call them to ask if they have any openings, if they do you can take a time and visit the building and a management personnel will be there to show you around all the available rental apartments in that building as per your needs.
Actually I have the same question... How to know the specific websites for rental buildings because it is all confusing online and most of them seem to be condos.. so one needs to first find them online to be able to visit
We have lived in a basement apartment for 13 years now. Another person rents the upstairs. We share the laundry but can use it whenever we want. When we moved in rent was $925/m and included water and hydro. That was cheap compared to apartment buildings. We now pay $1058 with water and hydro still included. We painted the place when we moved in using lighter colours to make it look brighter and we have daylight light bulbs. We have made the space work quite well for us. In those 13 years I got sick and was diagnosed with lupus and it became hard for me to work full time. So I worked part time. I don’t know that I’d be able to do that if we lived anywhere else with the way rent has skyrocketed. We have done well financially with living here but with my limitations on employment due to health I’m not sure we can afford to move anywhere else. I’d prefer a bigger space but it is what it is. I’m about to turn 40 and haven’t had a baby yet due to our circumstances. We are now at the point of considering just trying to have the baby for now, since my health is more stable. And I’m taking a course with the hopes of starting a new career I can do from home that would hopefully bring in higher income so we can eventually move. Our main concern is we have no idea how long our landlord plans to rent this out or when he might decide to sell this house. Housing is so difficult these days for low income families.
This was damn informative. I have been researching for a couple of months and i have seen almost every channel by an Indian Canadian. By far, this was the best info disseminated on the subject..
Really liked your presentation skills. Way better than others(don't wanna name). The script is most likely pre-decided unlike other channels that have a 1000 cuts and joins and is quite evident. Great work guys. Keep it up..!
Thank you so much! I am so happy I stumbled upon this video. I am moving to Toronto next month and I was actually looking at Condos. Glad to have ruled that out smoothly :)
Hi Neha congratulations on your move. And just an update, due to Covid rental market have moved a bit in favour of renters. And there is a bit of less competitiveness in Condo mkt and somewhat reduction in rents as well for both condos n rental apartments as well. 👍
@@InTheNorthCanada Thank you, I have been looking at some condos. In Boston heat/water is usually included in rent but I see a diff graph in Toronto. A bit nervous about moving all alone to a a diff country in middle of a pandemic TBH. But one day at a time, planning to rent an AirBnb for the first 30 days and use that time to settle down and explore my options. Jan 3 is almost around the corner and I am seeing a hole in the wall for $1400 :/
Airbnb for this long is definitely a wise decision. There is 50-50 chance that you can get the utilities included in ur rent. In fact due to covid u might have a negotiation room to get this included.
@@InTheNorthCanada Thank you guys! I will dedicate a lot of time apartment hunting and finding right options for me. You channel has some great content! Really appreciate your guidance!
You guys haven't touched upon the negatives of apartment, positives of condo and the fact that basements can have large windows and walk out basements as well... Some of the negatives of apartments are quite off-putting, I would have liked to see your explanations on the same too
Oh yeah definitely everything has its con. Living in an Apartment too such as shared laundry, No Dishwasher at times and building are older as compared to the Condos which I think we covered in the video. Also this video is more focused on Newcomers for whom Apartment is more affordable than a Condo giving them the same high-rise feeling and a very good location in many cases. And living in an apartment can be pleasing too. For that you can watch our "Apartment Tour" video. I hope it helps! 🙂👍🏼
Hi Nishant, thanks for to the great info. Can you share the link for the rental apartment in downtown area , we require it from 12th Dec, as just landed here in Toronto..
By law landlords can’t ask you 6months rent in advance. Condo are expensive than rental Apartments because they offer additional facilities. You are giving wrong information landlord cannot increase rent than what is set by government. My landlord asked $1000 increase in condo rent and I referred them to the govt set % and they couldn’t dispute that.Canada has laws tied to rents and tenants have upper hand. Check govt. website to know your rights instead of word of mouth.
Hello Guys, great content! Quick question, as a newcomer to Canada, how do we go around the fact that most landlords require credit report and employment information. Please share your thoughts on this matter.
Hey Jaby, we ran into the same problem when we arrived here. In the beginning we didn't have credit history or jobs, and Condo owners won't accept our offer and some condo owners accepted offers only if you pay couple of months rent in advance. Other option is rental buildings. Rental buildings don't require credit report or for you to have a job. They just ask to see your bank statement and as long as you have enough of 3-4 months of rent amount showing in your account and as long as you pay last and first month rent you are often good to get the apartment.
@@InTheNorthCanada thanks for the prompt response. That's really encouraging, because I was under the impression that all landlords would require the same. I'll check rental buildings then. Thanks a bunch, wish you guys all success.
This is one of the informative videos i've recently come across. I was not aware of rental building in toronto. can you give me some name of rental buildings??
Hey Parkhee. I am not sure of the names of the buildings. But th best way to identify them is that every rental apartment buikding will have a sign board outside stating “Rental Apartment” or you can even find these apartment on rentals.ca and put filter on Apartments
Really hope you guys just speak one language, I couldn’t continue when you mix another language in a sentence, which makes understanding the meaning of a very important sentence very hard since you can only understand half.
I understand.. That’s why we make all informative videos only in English now.. and Our Personal vlogs are in Hindi. This video is one of our very first videos. So sorry for the inconvenience 😊
People do have shared living options, for example rentals for girls sharing rooms in an apartment. If you are a student some colleges may also have housing for students.
Sir my parents are not allowing me to go canada for further study so plzz make a video on this topic so i can show my parents and encourage them to send me canada and what are the benefits of going canada
