I was expecting a light hearted documentary about noodles but this got really deep real quick. I have so much respect for these people starting from scratch and trying to improve their lives. Good luck
Wow! That was great! Good production, good interviews, a vital topic. That's one of the best documentaries I've ever seen. I want to go to this city now, and would attend this school if I could. Instead of starting a noodle RESTAURANT in America, someone should have these classes, should start a branch of this school, I'm saying. What you see here is not at ALL common in America, I've only actually seen it done once in my whole life!
Thank you for posting this video. I hesitate to suggest a reality TV show but, a mini-series following the young chef’s apprenticeships, graduation & ultimately landing work in local & faraway restaurants. Should the mainland Chinese filmmakers that produced; “A Bite of China” deliver this “series,” they would discover a new, international audience.
@J D It's pretty "amazing" to see a hateful comment like this even under a small clip talking about the life of common people, just because it's about Chinese.
@KLM 117 You know that many people still can't afford commercial insurance and the national scheme has quite limited coverage, right? Cars showing up everywhere is a pretty recent phenomenon, so many people living in a village are not used to cars coming in their way.
Ah so you are not from China? You should get out from China if you are annoyed by the government control of the internet. Its the best solution. Why did you go to China in the first place anyway if you dislike it so much?
They never use a strict recipe. It's about feeling when the dough is good. somtimes more water sometimes less. It can depend on the air humidity and temperature. That's why it's difficult to make good noodles. Compare factory made noodles (where they do use a standard recipe) with hand pulled noodles and you can really feel and taste the difference. That's why some noodle shops can become very famous.
@@thisissteph9834 I've use bread flour and it's impossible to pull even when using 1% by weight baked baking soda (with pH of 10). I've used cake flour and you can actually pull the dough. So if you know how much sodium bicarbonate to use when using bread flour I would love to hear, because I haven't figured it out. If they are using 11.5% protein content flour I feel chinese wheat flour must be different than Western flour in some way because I can't figure it out

Any boarding school in China could be labelled as a concentration camp by those ignorant and arrogant people, who take a perverted pleasure in bad-mouthing China to suit their despicable agenda.

Even through my time in China wasn't the best I still get nostalgic when I see my hometown get mentioned

there's a mistranslation at 0:44
he says 100 yi, which is 10 billion, not 100 billion
Indeed they increment by 10,000 and not 1,000
Ever try to read instructions/owners manuals for tools from Harbor Freight? It's a whole new language I call "Chinenglish".

Great Documentary .
China is a very special country
@J D This is pretty hard examination after all. China is a developing country as you know. people need to work hard to get money

Outstanding.

How do I sign up. I’d love to do that.
0:48 The guy said 10 billion RMB. The subtitle is off by a factor of 10.
So interesting. Must be very delicious.
I take my time. 18 minutes just for thinking 😊
5:10 Yoooo, flushing represent!
Any one kind enough to share the recipe for the hand pulled Lanzhou style doug?
Thank you!!
My name is Andong and Chinese cooking demystified has great recipe for unprofessionals.

This school is better than a liberal art major in the us
Please tell me the correct address of this school I want to get an admission?
Please send a recipe
Is there anyone know exact recipe of dough?
there is no exact recipe dough, any well developed dough will work

100 g flour + 1 g salt + 2g soda powder + 50 g water.
@@JakeWang-lt2fg i will try soon
What kind of flour to use for chinese hand pull noodle
I remember it should be normal flour you used for bread, the key for this is you should use oil(vegetable oil is the best) to make the dough
@@shuowang9328 how many and also when because i tried it before and it was so difficult.
It's a blend of primarily cake flour with some all purpose. Plenty of videos on UA-cam here showing how to make
Natural high gluten flour without protein additives.

I'd happily eat the think and thin noodles from the guy with bad eyes. He deserves a break

So dedicated to the art, even the tassels on their graduation hat/cap (mortarboard) were made from noodles. Take that University of Phoenix online.

Where did you make this video ? What of the city ? How to find this school ?
maybe you should learn how to read the description and do some 2 minute research.
@@anonymous5401 I think you can spend 2 minutes reading the description before comment. There is no information about the school.

Did Kungfu Panda's dad graduate from this school? 😂 🤭 🤤 😋 😜
Hmm, wondering if the tall guy at 7:36 has Marfan's. Extremely tall, thin, poor vision, retinal detachment ...
And, of course, no recipes : (

i doubt most of these shops could clear 5000 rmb a day tbh
and some people say is a concentration camp :D
