@@sunnywagle8995 Crossing 300 was a big task those days. So imagine scoring it against a bowling attack that consists of Mcgrath, Brett Lee and an in-form Bichel with some fantastic fielders around the outfield. It's not difficult, it's impossible. India conceded runs so cheaply. Australian bowlers were not going to do that. For some people, the match was over in the first innings itself. For some, it was over in the Zaheer's first over itself and for some others, the game was over when Australia reached 200 before 40 overs. For me, the match was handed over to Australia on the toss itself by Ganguly by asking them to bat first. I was sure that they would get past 300 in that batting track though 350+ was never expected. In this match, he scored his first 50 runs off 72 balls. And then he scored his next 90 runs off just 49 balls! 🔥🔥 He was absolutely unstoppable on that day.
How sad is this that players like Ricky Ponting who have played 350+ Odis never ever talk about a single thing or even their own single century in Odi format in their interviews except for a big innings in a World Cup semi final or final.Ponting always says in his interviews that he is proud of his longevity of 168 test matches but never talks about his Odis achievements(except winning World Cups) and I doubt if he even remembers how many Odis he exactly played. Why do players then play other formats if all they care about is test cricket?
@@LogicalsaneNo you are wrong. Losses are part of the game. I am Pakistani also but unfortunately our people take everything in a negative way. In 1996, unfortunately Wasim Akram was injured and unfit to play the quarter final but we should give credit to Ajay Jadeja, Venkatesh Prasad and other Indian players. They played very well. I agree that we lost 1999 World Cup final due to wrong decision by Wasim Akram to bat first. That was very ridiculous and embarrassing day for all Pakistanis. We should have never been in the final, with that poor performance.

@@LogicalsaneIndian team was nothing compared to Australia. Sachin never had the luxury of getting 50 from 74 with just one boundary still team reaching 228-2 in 38 overs. Sachin always had to take charge and score quickly. Only Sehwag and Yuvraj were the other two players who scored runs quickly. Both of them were young that time and Sehwag was an inconsistent hit/miss guy. If you have any doubts, compare Hayden's and Martyn's strike rate in ODIs with that of Ganguly's and Dravid's. Dinesh Mongia and Mohammed Kaif were not a match to Darren Lehman and Michael Bevan. Sehwag was a match to Gilchrist and Yuvraj to Symonds but as I said earlier, they were young and not much experienced at that time.

Got a 💯 in every knockout game against India in WC including one on a difficult wicket in quarter finals of 2011 WC
This is one gem of an innings.Even though i am indian,i just wowwed by his perfoance
Ponting had those bowlers who could defend 150 . This australian team dominated because the bowlers were amazing
Man bullied every team from 1999 to 2007..🔥🔥🔥🔥😈😈
Damn what a batsmen! Miss this Australian team

20 years on and BCCI still couldn’t build a squad that can handle pressure and perform when we need it the most.
@@sunnywagle8995 20 years on, we have won 3 worlds cups (we beat Aussies in all of 3 of them), one ICC champions trophy & two back-to-back test series in Australia. So yes, we have learnt from our mistakes & we CAN handle pressure situations well. Stop moaning for no reason.
Australian legend🥰🥰
True great of the game with the bat.
PLUS the best fieldsman i have ever seen.
PLUS extremely successful captain.
He always seemed to love batting with Damien Martyn.
This one knock.. Cried billion peoples😊
No, back then everyone knew how strong AUS was.
Unforgettable....
THE GREATEST VILLAIN who just hates to lose
Stunning batsman to watch. Class and technique, but with an aggressive attitude to get on with it.
Exactly what you want for the premier batting slot...number 3.
He won so many matches for them...big match player. Plus, best fieldsman i have ever seen.
Demolishing india. Ponting. Great player🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
He treated Indian pacers like spinners
Greatest world cup performance without a doubt. The great Ponting single handedly won the final.
Imagine Steve Smith as full time captain and Ricky pointing as their head coach 🔥💥
In this match, he scored his first 50 runs off 72 balls.
And then he scored his next 90 runs off just 49 balls! 🔥🔥
He was absolutely unstoppable on that day.
Great captain of all time

Spring🥶
How sad is this that players like Ricky Ponting who have played 350+ Odis never ever talk about a single thing or even their own single century in Odi format in their interviews except for a big innings in a World Cup semi final or final.Ponting always says in his interviews that he is proud of his longevity of 168 test matches but never talks about his Odis achievements(except winning World Cups) and I doubt if he even remembers how many Odis he exactly played. Why do players then play other formats if all they care about is test cricket?
You do realise that test cricket is real cricket right? It is the true Measure of a team and players quality
His captaincy overshadowed his batting and fielding capabilities 😂😂😂.
You will find commentators praising these players who have won it for the team with their contribution.
Ricky ponting ke bat mein spring thaaaaa ......

What's more impressive is that these 3 teams were super teams during that time and yet got demolished by Australia
@@leviackreman2310Pakistan lost due to fixing.... even in 1996
@@LogicalsaneNo you are wrong.
Most stylish batsman ever seen
2003 Ricky Ponting is the final boss.
Ponting wins trophies.
He played a great innings but scored 50 in 72 balls
Sachin never had the luxury of getting 50 in 72 balls and team still scored 228-2 in 38 overs at the run rate of 6
ponting is a great player but he had a great team and sachin carried the team in 2003 wc
Lol... it's the other way around.... ponting was smart to get that situation....... scoring at 6 isn't a big deal....it was his responsibility to get the result from there but he terribly failed.... And indian team was the best at that time with everybody in rhythm and providing good support to sachin
Ei @@Logicalsanedonkey shut up ponting himself told sachin was the best player he has ever seen
Indian bowling looks so toothless in this game. Though they were outplayed, they performed spectacularly in the whole world cup.
When aus were 222 for 2, blunder bucknor gave not out to straight forward lbw of ponting
Just like tendulkar got a chance in his 98 vs Pakistan....
@@Logicalsane when he got the chance?
@@rakeshviswanath1239 in 7th over, when Sachin was on 32, Razzaq dropped a simple catch at mid on and Wasim Akram was bowling
@@utkarsht3230 that was opposition team mistake, but pontings was umpires blunder

He was not only a great batter, but also the finest fielder and a great captain. I always tried to imitate his batting style. 😅❤
Explosive hitting ❤❤❤❤❤
Magical innings
Sachin 98 vs pakistan 🇵🇰 😍 ♥..ganguly 107 and 111 vs kenya 🇰🇪 and nehra 6/23 vs 🇬🇧 england in 2003 wc was superb 👌 👏 👍
Atlast getting banged by the Aussies like always 😂😂😂😂😂
Sachin made those 98 runs due to typical pathetic fielding by Pakistan....he was dropped earlier in that innings......he was just lucky...... sehwag also got a chance in the finals which is why he scored some runs in the finals....
@@Logicalsane you really lack logic
What's the use
Useless
Lost in finals
we don't care about runners up it's all about champions
I wasn't even born at that time, this proves that Australia had always been different from every team, the Aussie mindset is to always fight
He had a spring in his bat in this match
Period.
Great knocks 🙏
Best n.3 ever
Ricky Martin is a singer FYI 😂
Man with the spring bat
My favorite.. my 2nd love after sachin

What an attitude!
2003 it was ponting in 2015 it was Steve Smith and In 2023 it was Travis head who will be in 2027??? 😢😢
And Australia don't treat either of them as God King etc 😂
Cameron Green

Ricky Ponting is GOAT player and captain 🐐 he is big match player ❤ his aggression is main reason why Australia are invincibles of world cricket
