    This is such a powerful movie. You are so right, it’s inhuman for us Latin peoples and African peoples to fight each other instead of be the allies we are meant to be. We have both seen the tyranny of colonialism, we need to be united!

    This movie gave me that healing cry I needed. I remember being heartbroken when Chadwick died but this movie reminded me of that immense loss to the acting world while honoring his memory.
    M’Baku’s voice quivering during the line “The world has taken too much from you for you to still be considered a child.” Catches me in the feels every time.

      I'm still crying almost everytime I see him somewhere as if I was mourning the loss of somebody close to me. It baffles me how much his passing still affects when I only really got to know him because of Black Panther and after watching two of his other movies. It's crazy how a human being can leave that much of an impression. I don't think I'll ever get over it.
      The only thing that brings me comfort is that his suffering ended and I believe in my heart, given the amazing man he was, that he's having a blast in heaven and chopping it up with Jesus. I hope his spirit is enjoying the fruits of his labor and everything he left on earth. This man was a G, still is. ❤❤❤

    Lupita was born in México and she never thought Black Panther would be where she would be able to speak Spanish. In her own words " its a gift , I always wanted to work in spanish. Never in my wildest dreams did i imagine that opportunity would come in black panther. For me this film , represents different sides of my heritage. Being born in México and having that Meso American represented , its something thats very close to me. And for Nakia to have that opportunity to cross over and touch that world , it was a gift. "

    I enjoyed your reaction. I think you missed N'amor's threat when he came to Wakanda. He said "I would hate to come back under different circumstances. i have more soldiers than your country has blades of grass." I saw this in theaters. There were a LOT of sniffles... The cast spoke about dealing with his transition and making the film. Yes, it is definitely a labor of love. You must make your screen lighter to watch it. It's quite dark.

    Each Black Panther story we've gotten so far has been about vengeance. T'Challa sought vengeance, but he realized it was cosuming him and stopped. N'Jadaka/Killmonger sought out vengeance and it consumed him to the end. Shuri here sought vengeance and purposely let it to consume her, but luckily pulled back before it was too late. Her suit feels like a mixture of her brother's suit, Killmonger. I love her score and instead of a full on traditional music theme like T'Challa had, hers starts off more dark and synthesis being a techy and following a darker path (also the fact that her herb is synthetic) and at the end of the score, T'Challa's theme comes in and blends with hers, mixing technology & tradition (I think you hear a little of what I think is Shuri "theme" from the first film in this movie's end battle too). I love that very words from Ramonda that helped pull her back as she won the fight are the very same powerful words she yelled at T'Challa when he was losing to M'Baku that gave him the strength within to win the fight in the first film: "Show him who you are"...
    So much I can say about this movie. Beautiful film...

    • @nadrojholmes204
      @nadrojholmes204 6 місяців тому

      I mean, Killmonger wasn't consumed by his need for vengeance. He was doing the right thing. However the Queen and T'Challa committed treason and overthrew him and his allies. It's really sad when you think about it.

    • @AshLee92490
      @AshLee92490 6 місяців тому

      @nadrojholmes204 The challenge was never completed as T'Challa was never killed nor did he ever yielded therefore, T'Challa was still technically the king, and the challenge needed to be completed. The root of Killmonger's pain was his need for vengeance. That's the root of his war. Yes, he wanted to help his people, but it was fueled through venegeance...

    • @nadrojholmes204
      @nadrojholmes204 6 місяців тому

       @AshLee92490 The competitors don't have to kill one another. Remember the start of the movie contained a challenge from M'Baku to T'Challa for the throne.
      If Killmonger sought liberation for his people across the globe, then vengeance isn't bad. Wakanda, T'Challa and all previous kings felt no need for vengeance because they felt no connection for those that were not themselves. They could afford to not want vengeance because they were selfish, prideful, and disconnected from the struggle.

    • @AshLee92490
      @AshLee92490 6 місяців тому

      @nadrojholmes204 The challenge is supposed to end by yield or death. They explain this. Zuri said it, T'Challa said it. Okoye said it. The challenge was not complete because T'Challa did not die when he was thrown over the cliff, nor did he yield. Killmonger was trying to start a war and murder innocent people. T'Challa tried to talk it out to find another way, but Killmonger didn't want that. Why? Because he wanted vengeance above all. Nakia wanted the same as Killmonger, but she wanted it done in a different way, which is the way T'Challa chose at the end. I didn't say his vengeance wasn't justified, but at the end of the day, he was too blinded by it to even care about a different solution.

    I think my favorite part of the film is the last shot and the expression on Shuri's face, that look of relief and joy. I read it as her feeling affirmed and relieved about the fact that she decided to spare Namor and make peace with Talocan. The realization that if she had chosen vengeance and war, that's the legacy that she would have left for her brother's son. She'd have given her nephew a war torn kingdom and a potentially endless conflict. But her choice to forgive safeguarded the future and birthright of her last remaining family member and she's so grateful.

    An excerpt:
    "I absolutely believe that people are more good on balance than bad," he [Jim Holden] said. "All the wars and all of the cruelty and all of the violence. I'm not looking away from any of that, and I still think there's something beautiful about being what we are. History is soaked in blood. The future probably will be too. But for every atrocity, there's a thousand small kindnesses that no one noticed. A hundred people who spend their lives loving and caring for each other. A few moments of real grace. Maybe it's only a little more good than bad in us, but . . ."

    3:06 is literally me. I saw this movie twice in theaters and this scene gets me every time I've seen it. It's very real emotion felt from the actors but also us as the viewers because it's a loss we all shared. Shuri breaking down right before he leaves, and the music, and his body rising up in power. It's all powerful. I can't not watch this without crying or getting teary eyed.

    1:08:17 Like him or not you gotta give him props for being able to look that far ahead.
    I don't think he wants to capture and overthrow Wakanda, but he knows that so long as they have an alliance, he will have the chance to attack the rest of the world before they have a chance to attack Talokan, because he knows they will all attack Wakanda in their weakness and greed.

    I’m just the comics, while he’s sometimes functions as a hero, namor is very hot headed and egotistical. The only people he truly cares for is his own people. He hates the surface world very much, especially wakanda. Him and tchalla have a long standing beef. He would only be willing to work with wakanda to make sure his people are safe and then he always has a plan to backstab his allies for his own gain.

    The French and US members of the UN and Valentina made me want to ask if any of them had ever been told the story of 'The Dog and His Reflection' as a child - of a greedy, selfish figure with a mouth full of thick juicy meat who could not focus on what he already had because he could only focus on what someone else had and could only think 'I want it, I should have it, not him', and was so focused on having what others had that he did not realise he was staring at his own reflection, and so lost everything because of his greed.

    Shuri is the protector of Wakanda while M'Baku is the ruler of Wakanda?
    or
    Shuri is the queen and M'Baku is more like the Prime Minister - officially ruling the country but all in service to the queen?

    • @igweugo

      M'Baku is King of Wakanda; Shuri is Black Panther (and princess Regent, in a sense).
      Shuri has shown no ability to actually rule, or shown any real interest in wanting to actually rule, while M'Baku has basically helped rule since coming down from Jabariland, while standing as protector and adviser throughout the Blip (when T'Challa and Shuri were both gone).

    I think this movie was terrible, both as a film and as a part of the MCU. Wakanda is a brutal authoritarian country and has no right to any moral high ground on the world stage.
    That being said, as a brother, the scenes of Shuri grieving punch straight through my heart. My sister is my favorite person, my protector, she’s Superman. If anything happened to her I’d be lost.

      Hello Carlos, Arondir, Multiverse, Nubiana: Yes, I am still in charge. Don’t worry, this was an exception to the release order. (Moon Knight and Doctor Strange (2016 film) were other exceptions that happened before I took over.) This month, I wanted to give Kemi a special treat since she’s been wanting to see this film so badly ever since it came out and there’s nothing much she needs to know from any of the remaining Phase 4 films/shows in order to enjoy this film. Otherwise, with all the extra Marvel content she needs to watch before certain Phase 4 films, it would have taken forever to get to this film in release order.
      UPDATE: I can confirm we’ve returned to the release order. All 9 episodes of What If…? have been reacted to on Patreon and will come to UA-cam soon. And then Shang Chi and Eternals, before taking a break from Phase 4 for a carefully selected subset of films in the X-Men/Spider-Man/etc. collections. Then we will resume Phase 4 starting from Hawkeye.
