    I cant thank you enough for these videos! Im about to cut down my ‘74 F-100 and would have made a tremendous amount of extra welding and cussing without seeing what U did correctly. I have had a VERY hard time finding much info on the 73-79 frames especially with the width issues. If I’m ever in your area, I owe you a handshake and a beer, at the least! Love your videos and your comprehensive teaching! Please keep’em coming brother!

    I have a stupid question. Can I get a short bed and just cut my frame to fit it?
    Or is frame on the short bed truck and long bed truck to much of a difference to swap the beds.
    One reason I can't just cut my bed is it's gone so I need to buy a bed and if I can just buy a short one that'll save me a step but if not I'll do the cutting and all
    Thanks

      There’s no such thing as stupid questions. It should fit just fine as long as you do your measurements correctly.

    Could you briefly tell me how you shortened the bed itself, or point me to a link if you did video the modification of the bed itself? It appears you took everything from cutting the front and back? 1 cut, 1 welding seem? I'd really appreciate it

    Nice. U changed to a 1 piece drive shaft? What point did u pick to start ur 16 inches on frame? Thanks

    • @thehousethatrustbuilttinma3608
      @thehousethatrustbuilttinma3608  2 роки тому

      They are lowering it extremely low so they wanted to keep the two piece drive shaft because the one piece would rub the cab. We didn’t show it, but we did shorten the driveshaft per the customer’s request. We picked 1-1 1/2 inches behind the very first bolt hole for the bed bolt.

      Certain year models require we cut front and back and others only the front and that can change between makes as well.

    Does your drive shaft angle or length change a bunch??

      At least 16 - 16 1/2 inches. We cut this one but we advise you have a driveline shop be involved with that. You can do it yourself but you won’t be able to balance it.

    That’s an awesome job you did sir. Did you just replace the molding strip on the sides?

      We cut the ones on the side down. The ones on the bottom we offered to cut them but the client decided to buy a set of bottom trim.

      @@thehousethatrustbuilttinma3608 I’m wondering what this cost because I’m looking for a’79 to replace my’79 F100 SWB that was totaled out and it’s easier to find LWB’s.

    • @thehousethatrustbuilttinma3608
      @thehousethatrustbuilttinma3608  2 роки тому +4

      @@longshot5738 the cost is $2,000. That’s everything but cutting the driveshaft, I can cut the driveshaft but ca not balance them. It takes 5 days from start to finish, we shut our shop down the moment we start one of these until we finish to make sure all attention to detail is on the vehicle.

      We are located in Valdese, North Carolina and we will have to go over our schedule to be sure when we could get it in. We usually have clients bring the truck in to drop off and at this point it will be the end of August to the middle of September to have it worked in.
