    I was admitted to KPJ Specialist last year. The day i was registered, they took blood for lab test, and send to ward for rest. The next day, the doctor came, check and ask me to go for MRI, X Ray. The next morning doctor came and ask me to start fasting. On the afternoon my operation started. I had to stay for 1 week for pnumonia and now, back to health. For most of the time in ward, they asked me to go rest and sleep. I feel like it was my 1 week holiday without need to think about work😂

      It sounds like a fishing expedition frankly. Simple fasting would probably solve most of the problems due to eating bad food. 😂

    • @MyHappyCats
      @MyHappyCats Рік тому +3

      @@mcgdoc9546 it was really fast and efficient i would say. If i admit into government hospital it would be more than 1 month procedure but the total costs of it almost 60k😂. But the government’s hospital costs less than. 300 ringgit. But pneumonia will not solve by just simple fasting. They need to suck all the water inside lung and keep antibiotic for quite sometimes

    • @meo450
      @meo450 Рік тому +6

      Not true. The govt hospitals are fast n immediate with urgent cases as in my relative's pneumonia case. Cost RM500 @ the max they can charge for senior citizens

      Of course is different service between Government & private hospital. The Govern. Hosital more patient for sure the prosedure take more time. But the cost is cheaper. RM1 for registration & the rest all free for Malaysian Citizen.

    Aren't you lucky to be treated that well and cheap in Malaysia? As you know, we (UK) don't really have that wonderful mixture of private and public health care like they do over there. It's either one or the other. How I wished we do have, because then at least you can have a second (or first) opinion. Free NHS is great, but it's a massive bureaucratic behemoth and it's lagging behind as you yourself confirmed. To do that many tests (still not as comprehensive as you had) pretty much all at once, you'd have to be admitted to E&A, otherwise it's a long wait. Glad your health has improved. Simple advice: Eat healthily and exercise! Wished NHS can learn a few tricks from Malaysia. Funny thing is that many of their health professionals are trained abroad, quite a few from the UK! And they then go on to improve their health care/services.

      so a good Tips So go to Malaysia if you got Health issue, Go to have your medical treatment there and touring around!!! Stay in cold weather like a freezer not so good for your humanly body,You not A Draconian Dragon or a polar bear!!! save some money then take your journey,then eat Hot and Spicy food in Malaysia To detox and clean your Stomach,Decades of your stinky foods and drinks,since Malaysia is a majority muslims Country,i think its a better Chance to quit Alcoholic Drinks for a moment!!! if you can quit for good its better i think Malaysian Government need to make New Visa with Long period!!! like call it Medical Treatment Visa that can be gained with Hospitals Backup info and the time to stay like more than 8 months!!! In here Saudi we got visa extension if we got support or backup info from Hospitals or Doctors!!!

      We have 'universal' health care in Canada? Hardly universal: many services are de-listed, i.e., you can't get 'em, and hardly good unless you're prepared to live with your condition while on the waiting list... and many people die on such lists. So good? No. Universal? No. Free? Consult your tax bill. I'm leaving Canada to get the health care I cannot get in Canada.

    Good to know that the condition of your health improved a lot now ... as we aged, it is important to be more careful with the food that we consume, the amount of rest as well as the need to reduce on alcohol intake if not totally stop taking any at all. I am 65 and alhamdullillah I am quite healthy and have not experienced any health issues. What I had and is still practising is that I fast two days in a week ie.on every monday and thursday... maybe you and your wife could try this new challenge ! 😄 ... anyway, I wish you all the best, take care and stay safe always ... you are always welcome to come back to Msia for medical treatment 🌺🐈‍⬛🐈🐒💐

    That is amazingly affordable. In the US, a 5 min consult with a doctor is like $300 without insurance. Even with insurance, the out of pocket costs for all those procedures would be be much more than what you paid. Get well soon!

      And they are going to private health care. I usually tell my American friends that the cost of giving birth in the govt hospital is cheaper than a drink in Starbucks

    • @secrets.295
      @secrets.295 Рік тому +3

      I am not sure what your consultation is about? Is it like a normal flue or fever that cost you that much? Here in Malaysia if you have a flue you go to a small clinic/shop, you don't go to a hospital for minor illness like that. It will cost you like 30-50 ringgit & that includes the medicine price, consultation alone not including medicine is probably like RM 20. I noticed the problem with privatizing all of the healthcare industry like the US is, there is no other alternatives to a more affordable healthcare. Everything is private and since people have no other alternatives, the hospitals can charge you ridiculous fees. Pharmacies can charge you ridiculous prices because they worked with the hospitals to keep the prices high. Where else in Malaysia where most hospitals are state owned, the government have to ensure cost are minimize to the fullest extent if they don't want a high budget deficit. In the US, I hear so often people are addicted to prescription drugs. It is unheard of in Malaysia for people to be addicted to prescribed drugs. Because government hospitals don't want to waste money paying for medications repeatedly when you are not even that sick. Private hospitals in the US love to make you continue to be dependent on that drugs even though you don't need to so that they can continue charging you consultation fees and Pharmaceutical companies are happier than ever.

      $560 for me in the US, seeing the orthopedic for about 10 mins about a fractured collar bone. I showed him the x-ray from the emergency room visit , he suggested a surgery to fix it, surgery will cost about $20k. I have a high deductible health insurance, which the first $12k is out of pocket. I flew back to Malaysia, it’s fixed for less than $25. 😂

      It's True; but I am from the USA, and I just came back from Malaysia and is NOT ALL NICE and Top Notch; the Cost is AFFORDABLE IN MALAYSIA; but if you are from the USA, you will be SHOCKED at things they DO there that will Alarm Your GUT. They don't take Certain Precautions that are taken in the USA in order to Avoid Contaminating other patients with the Bodily fluids and Germs of Another Patient. They have medical Knowledge but their Concept of HYGIENE in hospitals in NOT near the same as in the USA. And, Malaysians are NOT what they Say in these UA-cam Videos; Some are really NICE people and humble in a way; but MANY ARE SHADY; liars, Money-Hungry, incredibly Rude & Some Are fake & Anti-American and anti-foreigners.

    Glad to have you "back." During our five years in Mexico, we received outstanding medical care at a small fraction of the cost in the US. The five hospitals frequented by expayts were like 5-star hotels. The scare tactic employed in the USA is simply smoke and has not merit. We also paid out of pocket and simply set aside a dedicated charge card for any medical disaster. That's what other expats advised. Bill

    Double chin + moobs - says it all. However, you are mentally 100% and you just need to excercise and watch your diet. 8000 steps per day will do it. HOWEVER - YOU MUST PUSH YOURSELF HARD - UNTIL YOU SWEAT. A gentle stroll achieves nothing. The high humidity and lack of sleep in Asia does not always help. Good luck. Once you have had a good kick up the pants - it means you will make a big effort with excercise and diet now. Minimise salt + coffee + alcohol + deserts + carbohydrates.

    Hi Neil and Sarah, Glad you are able to get tests done and are on the right path. Americans will be stunned at how cheap and the great quality you are experiencing in Malaysia! The scare will keep you on the less alcohol, eating better, more exercise and weight loss path. Being British or American, it is difficult to really get a feel for our lifestyles since compared to most you are doing much better than an awful average. I didn’t consider myself overweight until my Japanese colleagues chose me to play Santa Claus at the Christmas party when I used to live there! My commentary is not intended to dismiss the likely real health issues you are dealing with, but you and Sarah have another 40 years to go and lifestyle matters! We have witnessed the changes from your early days in Mexico where you had some UK cravings! By the way, I have been on the road for over 3 months with my flat let out in Honolulu for 6 months! Cheers, Rod

      @@ST-ff7pf I would be happy to do that except that there is a 3 month minimum per the condominium policy. At the moment I am using Vacasa who are horrible (Airbnb isn't allowed) The current tenant is in for 6 months and is apparently initiating a lawsuit against Vacasa due to their ineptness. Ideally, I am looking for someone who wants it for at least 3 months, but no more than 6 months - Vacasa has it rented out at USD 4,500 a month - given that they have "hidden" fees and other indirect costs I am getting less than USD 3,500 which I would be fine with doing directly. Let me know if a longer term rental could interest you - it is in East Oahu and has amazing amenities (pools, gardens, barbecue pits..) and is well furnished with nice mountain, sea and marina views.

    You know I have been following you both from way back,when you had a couple of hundred followers.
    I say as a friend .Stop and go back to the UK.
    This is no way to enjoy your retirement my friend.
    You need to get your health sorted 100% if you are going to travel for 10 years.
    Please go back,get treated in the UK ,stop drinking ,see a dietician ( Eating Subway is not healthy its totally processed food)
    You need to lose weight( By exercise and diet from healthy food made at home not in a restaurant)
    Taking 5 different drugs is not the way my friend
    Diet and exercise will cure you,drugs will just control health problems not cure.
    You know deep down that you are not living healthy Neil,this is your wake up call,you need a drastic change. Also when you feel better its not ok I can go back to my old ways now.......its ok this is my new life and im sticking to it.

Personally, I have never been treated better (as a human being) by doctors & dentists in foreign countries. I'm Malaysian, i went to a public clinic called the Titiwangsa KKM, it's like a one stop centre clinic where there are certain specialists there instead of just GPs. Paid RM1 (USD 0.20) lol, to have my eyes checked (astigmatism) then it turned out that i had an eye condition called Keratoconus 😢, well, they did thorough examination on my eyes, and along with explanation and what to do, just for RM1! The waiting time wasn't even that long, took me only 25 minutes before i was summoned to the room 😮😮

    Thank goodness you are feeling better! This video was quite the roller coaster, I found myself worried sick for 3/4ths of the program!
    After experiencing some similar symptoms to yours, my friend recommended Dr. Michael Greger’s book, How Not to Die. (He also has a UA-cam channel called Nutrition Facts.) I completely changed my diet according to the book, and have never felt better.
    Like you and Sarah, I was frequently eating on the go. Unfortunately, restaurant and packaged foods are loaded with sodium. It’s really too bad we feel the need to alter our food so much to be palatable.

    Hi! Msian here. Interesting to know some of your meds are similar to my moms. So what is your official diagnosis? My mom have high BP and high cholesterol. Me too have high cholesterol so I'm taking statin meds. But my mom takes statin and amlodipine. So she has high BP n cholesterol. Sometimes she does feels dizzy when her BP is rocketing. Only sometimes, not all the time like you. Thank god finally your meds works. I was about to suggest you go to govt hospitals like Hospital Kuala Lumpur where it is well known the hospital has all the specialist and best doctors there. We locals knew that public hospitals are better than private hospital. All hard cases are handled by govt hospitals bc the doctors are way more experienced and experts in their field. Whenever there's tough medical case, private hospitals will turn you down and refers you to the public hospital. If you think you need more opinion into what you're having, go to the HKL and ask to see the specialist directly. And i assure you the costs are significantly way lower than private hospitals.
