ALAN CHARLES LANCASTER otherwise known as NUFF, has passed away in Sydney, his home for 45 years. The founding member and the backbone of STATUS QUO had been suffering from Multiple Sclerosis for many years. Alan battled on bravely, performing at QUO's Reunion gigs in 2013 and 2014. Even though he had MS, Alan's performance and his vocals were the strongest of the three. My favourite member of QUO is Alan Lancaster. I had the pleasure of having a beer and a smoke with Alan at a Sydney pub gig, in Five Dock, when he had The Lancaster Bombers and The Lancaster/Brewster Bands in the late 80's. We had a longer chat at The Lewisham Hotel as well. These were dirty, grungy hotels, though this didn't phase the great man of the people. Alan was the most beautifil man, very humble, down to earth and a great guy to talk with and have a laugh. Vale Alan ( Nuff ) Lancaster RIP mate, you were one of the greatest Rockers of all time.
What a fantastic and beautiful experience. Yes. He was a genuine man. I only met him briefly once when I waited outside the motel the guys were staying at in Adelaide in the 70’s . Genuine & friendly. 🙏👍🏻
And me, by far the original and the best line up. Top British boogie band, the Yanks didn't understand a good time. My favourite Quo track too, well pleased they included it in the reunion tour.
Some people may already know that John is Left-Handed and plays Drums Right-handed He is a Swing/Shuffle Drummer and very few people can incorporate this into a Hard Rock Band's music.
I'm a (early) Quo fan since 1970 and this is real magic to watch! Great to see Alan and John again. It sounds fantastic and look at the smiles on their faces! Good luck guy's with the coming tour, I will be there!
I'm glad the four of them had one last hurrah before it was too late, however old differences resurfaced which was a shame. Rossi looks so uncomfortable in this. RIP Rick
When you look at Alan Lancaster he looks ancient, but I still rate him as one of the best Bass guitarists I've ever heard, and he sings vocals on Roadhouse Blues which is brilliant
The rhythm section makes all the world of a difference. After 30 odd years the real Quo sound is back again. Sorry to say, it makes the current Quo sound so weak and tame in comparison. This is what so many of the old fans have been yearning for for so long. The difference between the two Quo's is considerable and imagine what the FF will sound like once they are rehearsed!!
I've been a loyal Status Quo Fan since 1975. Every Day I wish Rick and Alan would come back from Heaven to make great Rock with their Bandmembers again!
takes me back to the glasgow apollo when they recorded the live double album with the stones mobile recording unit up the lane they were so loud then and were the loudest band to ever play the apollo that was first time i ever went to see them
I got the double live album that came out in 1976..What I wanted to know is if you can tell me Who's voice that can heard yelling out "Would you welcome the magnifcent Staaatus Quooooo" ok some thing like that..Just wanted to know thats all>
Peter Lyall + I believe the announcement is by Jackie Lynton, I'm not sure what his connection with the Quo is,I've always wondered. On UA-cam somewhere he sings a slow version of "Caroline".
Ich kann das noch gar nicht glauben...einfach nur Geil...Die alte Truppe....das erste mal live gesehen 1978n in Hannover Eilenridenhalle..........es war Klasse
It's amazing how Alan and John have instantly brought the best out of Rick and Francis........ Bloody Fantastic........ (Rhino.... listen and learn.....)
Francis didn't want to rejoin up with Alan and John, but Rick talked him around and he agreed to take part, Francis and Rick went on TV to do a interview which was quite comical in a way because when Francis was talking Rick sat there and showed a interest and listened, when it was Rick's turn, Francis turned his head away and sat there like he wanted to go, as soon as the interview was over, they went in to separate dressing rooms and left the building through separate doors. they didn't speak to each other after the interview that day.
That was great. When I saw them back in 1973, Alan Lancaster had long, black hair, a biker jacket and he looked like the kind of guy whose bike you didn't want to knock over! This clip is smashing. They all look like they are still having fun with it.
A lot of grey...Well worn twin teles, Coughlan still looking totally lost playing one drum and the ONLY repeat the O N L Y Bass palyer that IS Quo, not that rhino halfwit.....AND THERE'S still NoTHiNg LiKe thEM........living proof that a gr8 band is not just the sum of the individual parts, don't U think??THANK YOU for posting, and can we see more Please??...it sounded like the 1st bars of "Accident prone", another forgotten but magical track, and 1 that's NEVER put on compilations...shud be!!!
considering its just a jam session they really are very good,..I hope the whole event is recorded including the rehearsals, history in the making. The simpler sound is the only way to listen to Quo, 3 guitars and a drummer!! I have not bought a studio Album of Quo since 'on the level' way back when, always going for the live concert stuff since them......this is raw Quo!....massive thumbs up!!!!
TOOOOOOOOOOOOO fuckin right geeeez,im back at Hammersmith for the first time in 20 years to see THE Quo.Ive been counting the days since i got the tickets.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love this line up!!! Just to see them back together for this is gr8, today's line up is gr8 too, I think the new and old line up should something now that would be tucking awesome!!!!!!!!!!
I saw them first time just after picture of marchstick men, in the days of the best line up, saw them a few times, met john, francis and ricky at the roundhouse, london, they were so lovely, i preferred it in those days with that line up, seen them since with the last line up before rick had to leave

omg, they sound like they did when they first recorded this song...wonderful..thanks
In my Chair Slow Motion....
A man in a helmet said...what's that your using? ;)
For those who forgot or didn't realise yes the Quo were once this fuckin good
Fantastic that they got it together before it was too late - makes me smile to see it everytime.
And me, by far the original and the best line up. Top British boogie band, the Yanks didn't understand a good time. My favourite Quo track too, well pleased they included it in the reunion tour.
Now thats the real Quo .
This is how this band was great, not playing that crap they ended up doing!
This is how Status Quo was, has been again and always should be! The chemistry on stage, the sound - it’s roots, it’s origins it’s home!
First record i ever bought, memories or what !!
John is an amazing drummer!
Some people may already know that John is Left-Handed and plays Drums Right-handed
He is a Swing/Shuffle Drummer and very few people can incorporate this into a Hard Rock Band's music.
First single i ever bought.
RIP Alan Lancaster
The best rock band EVER! Love them to bits
Bahaha!
Ich auch
Don't exaggerate.
This is brilliant. After falling out and not speaking to each other for years they were assembled for this documentary for one last time. RIP Rick.
I'm a (early) Quo fan since 1970 and this is real magic to watch! Great to see Alan and John again. It sounds fantastic and look at the smiles on their faces! Good luck guy's with the coming tour, I will be there!

So sad Rick and Alan now gone. RIP
I was there...the real Quo for the very last time [Manchester]....treasured memories.
Spot on, amazing, suddenly the old quo sound....after all this time...I can die happy now :)
come on guys this is just the best
Watering mouth! Boy oh boy! The damnedest, purest, steadiest and most faithfull rock band: The UNMISTAKABLE ones!!
How frigging good does that sound ? Bloody hell love it that's the Quo I remember .
When you look at Alan Lancaster he looks ancient, but I still rate him as one of the best Bass guitarists I've ever heard, and he sings vocals on Roadhouse Blues which is brilliant
He suffers from MS. He did a great job.
.. & Backwater..

Status Quo - the greatest band ever!
Rick Parfitt the Legend of Status Quo! RIP
The greatest rock band to come out of the UK...Ever!!!!
Rest in peace Alan Lancaster 💔 xxx
The real quo Rick Parfitt looked so happy
Beautiful seeing the lads together. So glad they did this.
my teeth where laughing now we couldn't stop smiling ☺
I've been a loyal Status Quo Fan since 1975. Every Day I wish Rick and Alan would come back from Heaven to make great Rock with their Bandmembers again!
Thank god people recognise the real quo instead of their now modern crap
Somehow the very sight of that bass player makes me angry.
One of my favourites, love the lyrics
This is very cool, the real thing
takes me back to the glasgow apollo when they recorded the live double album with the stones mobile recording unit up the lane they were so loud then and were the loudest band to ever play the apollo that was first time i ever went to see them
+Richard Grant If you were there, I envy you. The live album is a heavy rock classic. Sadly, probably the last classic that they made.
I got the double live album that came out in 1976..What I wanted to know is if you can tell me Who's voice that can heard yelling out "Would you welcome the magnifcent Staaatus Quooooo" ok some thing like that..Just wanted to know thats all>

@@barriejackson965 He went on to write Rockers Rollin' with Rick for the next album as well.
Very best version ever.
Oh! memories, first record I ever bought.

RIP Alan Lancaster
Ich kann das noch gar nicht glauben...einfach nur Geil...Die alte Truppe....das erste mal live gesehen 1978n in Hannover Eilenridenhalle..........es war Klasse
The green tele sounds terrible
It's amazing how Alan and John have instantly brought the best out of Rick and Francis........ Bloody Fantastic........ (Rhino.... listen and learn.....)
They were crap without them.
Still doing a second year of that reunion in 2014.. so it had to be sometihong, and then failing... Alan and Rossi is no good together anymore..
Crap absolute crap
😢Rick' had no sway over the reunion, Rossi hated it. All down to the management.
Quo at there best😁
i hope the charlie and the 80's were worth it mr rossi :(
uns bleibt die erinnerung 50jahre sq haben uns begleitet
Awesome rhythm section! Awesome Quo.
Fuckin A!
The one, the only, the original, THE BEST!!!!
RIP Alan Lancaster Another light goes out of the fantastic four
shame Rossi only did this as a business deal . No feelings or he'd have done this years ago , but he saw it as a selling point
this line up have a fuller sound Status Quo Frantic Four Reunion is the way please do more shows :-)
For me, you only get the best of Quo with the frantic four.
Great they buried hatchet and still sound good
That was great. When I saw them back in 1973, Alan Lancaster had long, black hair, a biker jacket and he looked like the kind of guy whose bike you didn't want to knock over! This clip is smashing. They all look like they are still having fun with it.
LOL! He's 5'3" and a lovely guy to chat to.
@@swinetrek I can believe it. In these clips he comes across like yer favourite eccentric uncle! He looks like he is really enjoying himself.
Alan's hairs never been black.
They did’nt invest a lot in their guitars. Still sounds great though!
its all in the knowing that it is THE frantic 4 that are playing
GOOD BYE ALAN LANCASTER...LEGEND 🇲🇽
Ahhhh, what can you say, just fantastic - to see as well as hear. Roll on the tour!!
Backwater!!
Backwater is surely the best track from 'Quo', the best album ever!
Rock in peace

TOOOOOOOOOOOOO fuckin right geeeez,im back at Hammersmith for the first time in 20 years to see THE Quo.Ive been counting the days since i got the tickets.
Saw them around 10 times at Newcastle City Hall, from 72 to 82..brilliant always.
R.I.P. Rick and Allan. When I was a kid, I made myself a guitar out of cardboard, and all I wanted was to be the rhythm guitar player in Status Quo.
Slow hand
....StatusQuo les vrais, c'est super bon, bravooooooooooooooooooooooooo !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Music is a common language to many but Ive seen music has made more enemies than it has friends. Humans EGO I guess.
Awesome!!! :)
First record I ever bought. January 1971.
And I like it, I like it ..........lalalalala
най, най прекрасни на на свет
In my chair the song that got into Quo in the 70s loved the bluesy feel to it
Great

Nuff, you have never been away mate..but welcome home.
Agree although there was no real bonding but far to often someone drops off steps
