- This 8mm film features Tall Ships in the Halifax Harbour, historic Downtown Halifax including Jacob Street, the Citadel Inn the year it was constructed, the Halifax Commons, Armoury, Public Library and more! What else can you spot?
the first or original citadel inn was in the early 60s,the extension upward from the original 3 floors took place in this period as scotia sq was also being put up…I was in it in 1964 when just 3 floors
scenes of i think the v.g. centennial building going up..my father worked on that … and so did I ! collecting pop bottles to make 2 cents each !…. i ended up buying a ccm mustang bicycle that summer from the saving up…from firestone on gottingen st.

the mackay bridge coming to the end of its building stages..to be opened in 1970 or so….seen from fort needham…
the i think…irish society or shriners parade from 1967 with the police bike escorts…
Freemasons, by the look of it. (Which is where the Shriners came from, but I don't think Shriners wear the aprons.) The Freemasons' temple is just down the street from City Hall, and many prominent Haligonians were members (including Scottish beer baron Alexander Keith).
