Fun fact: the Blue Jackets are the only currently existing team to have never made it to a conference final with the sole exception of the Seattle Kraken, who have the excuse of being literally three years old (and who also won their first playoff series far more quickly than the Jackets did: 2 years in comparison to the CBJ’s whopping _19)._
Don’t worry, the Bruins should not have been there. They did an intentional dirty hit to Pacioretty leaving him out for the season. Habs - Bruins serie got to game 7 and the Habs “lost” by one point. Pacioretty was the best scorer for Montreal
As a Flyers fan I remember those Cups fondly. Missed out on the Hat Trick in '76 then the heartbreak of 1980 especially game 2 when the Islanders scored 2 disputed goals. '85 looked promising and even won game 1 of the finals but ended up getting steamrolled. '87 was simply heartbreaking. Falling behind 3-1, an Edmonton newspaper printed a parade route ahead of game 5 and the Flyers won game 6 then trailing game 6 in the 3rd period the Flyers scored 2 goals a minute and a half apart to win the game forcing a game 7 which they lost 3-1. 1997 was a kick in the balls. The Flyers steamrolled into the finals winning all 3 conference series in 5 games only to lay down in the finals. It was such a bad performance that their coach ended up getting fired. 2010, barely made the playoffs, pulled a miracle in the 2nd round(in fact the Eastern Conference finals featured the 7th and 8th seeded teams) and gave Chicago a hell of a series before losing. Haven't been close since. In fact, since 2010 the Flyers have only made the playoffs 6 times. Fun Fact: The Flyers have been able to produce the playoff MVP twice even though they lost in the finals. 1976-Reggie Leach and 1987-Ron Hextall.
There’s 32 teams you are only excepted to win once every 32 years now so 34 years is not that bad. Plus the Oilers I would say were only Contenders for maybe 5 years in those 34.
The West looks pretty open this year, so there's a chance to get back to the final. They could probably benefit from the '06 alumni hyping them up in the dressing room!
Yeah I’m a oilers fan from Alaska. Geographically the closest team to where I grew up. The oiler dynasty of the 80’s was the first nhl games I ever watched on TV. Been a fan ever since.
You didn't mention the root cause of the drought for three franchises - the Canadiens curse. For the last three teams that beat the Canadiens in the Final, that's when their drought began. The Maple Leafs - last won the Cup in 1967, when they beat the Canadiens. The Flames - last won the Cup in 1989, when they beat the Canadiens. The Lightning - last won the Cup in 2021, when they beat the Canadiens.
I like Vancouver or Winnipeg out of the West too. I'm a Stars fan, but if I had to put money on it I'd go with Winnipeg. I think they have better goaltending than us.
@@TwistedWristerHockey thanks. I know the East is a little shaky with my choices, but it's so unpredictable. A lot of people say rangers others say Boston, but I just think the youth and the talent that Carolina and Toronto have could surprise a lot. Carolina allow the least amount of goals I think in the Eastern conference while scoring a good amount themselves. But playoff hockey is different. We'll see
Crazy to think that has lasted 10 years if you count the shortened 2012-13 season, or if you're looking at a full 82 game campaign...we're at 15 years (07-08 Red Wings).
Small nitpick for improvement: you use the phrase "the would be ___" incorrectly. The word you are looking to use in this context is "the eventual ___". But otherwise, a nice script. Well done.
I know the last few weeks weren't great, but we know they're capable of turning up their game. Even if Bobrovsky were to falter (he's logged a lot of miles the past year), I bet Stolarz could hold down the fort. Tough, tough first round matchup though!

Just joined!
As much as I want the canes to win I think the bruins will
Canucks 100%!
Rangers not won since 1994
After what happened last year, I got a feeling it’ll be Boston, who’s ready for Revenge, but hopefully, it’s the Rangers
Video idea: In honor of the Arizona Coyotes and their relocation to Utah talk about their complicated history in the desert
They barely have any history though
The most notable thing is ovi’s goal
What history of note do they have? Besides 2012 they've had a miserable existence either missing the playoffs or getting bounced in the first round.
Love from az
history doesntnmean good things only.
Personally I don’t consider someone who has never won as a drought. It shouldn’t be a “drought” if it’s never rained there.
The last time the Leafs won a cup they were the best of only 6 NHL teams in the league.
Sherlock Holmes right here.
I would think it's harder to win a Stanley Cup with 32 teams in the league
@@michaelleroy9281 The cup makes it to Toronto every year. When the champions give it back to the league.

Those old Star jerseys were some of the best. Lot of franchises have changed to bland jerseys.
I love the Victory Green, but yeah that design from the 90s is iconic.
Always fun to revisit the 2011 finals, where we got embarrassed on home ice

When your cup drought is longer than never.
Winnipeg has the longest drought. 1902

Doesn't winning the final 2 AVCO Cups count?
@@Rockhound6165 they won 3 overall. The Avco Cup was in the hockey hall of fame last I saw

That long, already? Man, I feel for ya 🙏

Philadelphia Flyers are winning the 2027 cup, i’m marking it here on April 24th, 2024 @ 6:29 PM EST
Wow, that's bold! Take a screenshot of this, and then reply to this comment in 3 years (whether you're right or not). Crazier things have happened!
@@TwistedWristerHockey I just did. I'll remember this.
@18:35 The Tampa bay lightening were never down 3-1 against the leaf's in the first round, they were only down 2-3.
Thanks for catching that 👍
4 cups by the Rags in damn near 100 years is embarrassing lol. Especially considering half that time was with 6 teams or so
Blackhawks haven't won the Stanley Cup since 2015 let's get it going again ❤
you should include early Ottawa Senators
Realised i didnt get notifications to your channel though im subbed
great vid
The Canucks weren't just embarrassed in game 7, they were embarrassed even worse for the 3 games in Boston, they didn't even show up for those games.
LETS GO CANES
I’m a Bruins fan, and man it’s good that we have that Cup from 2011 because otherwise we’re the consummate chokers.
Yeah, I don't think a lot of non-Bruins understand how many disappointing finishes they've had in their history, such as "Too Many Men" in 1979.

Congrats to the Florida Panthers! And I 100 percent believe these 2 will play each other again in the Finals but the Oilers will win it at home in 7.
Let’s go CANES!
If Bernie wasn’t injured in 76 it would have been a 3 peat for Philly.
The Knights 😂
Be nice if the Winnipeg Jets win there first Stanley Cup this year .
calgary was in the finals in 86 aswell
I hope my Sabres will make their run someday. As for this season, Go Stars!
Pens fan here even though we have been that long since we won this team is disappointing me
Let’s be real when the rangers won in 94 it was basically the 80’s oilers team in rangers jerseys lol
and partly 92 Blackhawks
I vote Bruins I'm cheering for my home team!!!!
As an Isles fan, I want them to win it all.
Calgary's last Stanley Cup should have been 2004!
Would love to see the Bruins win it this year
Da JETS!
Oilers
