Yes, pad thai is definitely a thai dish originate in Thailand created by a thai Priminister name Phiboon in 1939 promoted from 1939 -1942 during ww II & yes it was cause of rice shortage because we had bad flooding as well as he want to promote thai identity at the same time, he also changed our country name from Siam to Thailand as you know today the last source that you mentioned about pad thai is not originate from Thailand is totally incorrect information actually after ww II Thai people did not suffer rice shortage so they went back to eat rice & curries again but in late 1960 -1970 tourists started visit Thailand which made pad thai became popular among foreigners that how pad thai came back in our thai restaurants again
Its crazy how immigrants can change a country in a few years , chinese immigrants started to arrive in early 20th century in thailand and influenced the thai culture and cuisine so much(at least on the surface) that it hardly feels like one of the historical centres of indosphere same can be seen in other southeast asian countries with varying degrees
The influence Chinese immigrants had on the cuisines of other Asian countries is immense. Nasi goreng, Hainanese, chicken, rice, ramen, pad thai, pho, the list goes on.
Bangkok, the most visited city on the planet by international arrivals (Source: City Index by MasterCard), is the city of skytrains, skywalks, skyparks, skypools, skybars!!! and even a golden temple in the sky (Wat Saket). Come fly high in this exciting metropolis. For those who haven't been, think NYC but tropical and Buddhist 😘😘😘
Uptin I love your video ! You really did a great job 👏👍 on this one. As an Indonesian , we also have Gastro diplomacy as well in a form of "Indomie" (Indonesian Noodles brand) and "Kopiko" (Coffee candy). Indomie influenced a lot of african countries and in Nigeria , they used it for political leverages in one election. In some african countries, indomie became one of the reasons for people to get HIV because african teenagers were paid as prostitutes with a box of Indomie. Kopiko candy gained a lot of spotlight as well, Kopiko was brought to the space by Nasa astronaut so they can enjoy coffee. Kopiko also promote their products in Korean drama like Netflix's Vicenzo and other korean dramas It will be interesting if you can make videos about Kopiko and Indomie. People rarely talks about Indonesian form of gastro diplomacy. ❤
That's a bad example of gastro diplomacy. Instead of kopiko and indomie it will be so much better if Indonesia push rendang, rawon, gado gado, or other traditional dishes as a form of gastro-diplomacy.
There are street food restaurants where you can order Pad Thai, Pad see ew or Pad Ka Prao. Thai people call it Aharn Tam Sang restaurant. Aharn is means food, Tam Sang is means as your request. The cook can cook in your way if you want it, such as increasing or decreasing the spiciness. Increase the amount of rice Don't add some vegetables that you don't like. Or even order Pad Thai without the noodles.😊
As vietnamese, we don't have any food diplomacy, but our food is still famous around the world. However, that cost us the hated between the people from North and the people from the South after 1975
As a lebanese, Though I've eaten foods from all over the world, near east diet is always #1. From tabbouleh, baba-ghannouj, hummus, stuffed eggplants/grapeleaves/cabbage , baklava, kneffeh, burma.
@rick03168 I didn't have any deserts. Of course, I realize its entirely a me problem. I came back and declared the more savory 'American Thai' food to be the best Thai food in the world. Typical American, I know.
Love Thai food but Korean food is the best...and not the common BBQ chicken or meat as that's normal in any country but try Bimbimbap or Japjae or Gimbap or Korean pancakes. Nothing better and all super veg heavy 🎉🎉🎉
Let me tell her... "Thai Green Curry is not supposed to be Sweet." It should be salty with just a hint of sweet from palm sugar. 😌 Thai cusine is on a sweeter side lately which is not authentic and unpleasant. 🫤
yeah, it does taste very good, even in Belarus you can find it now
All the way there? Wow!
@@uptin well, pretty much only in the developed places such as minsk and Grodno
Just came home from a Thai restaurant here in Singapore.

อาหารไทยไม่ได้รับอิทธิพลจากจีนเท่านั้น จากมอญ จากเปอร์เซีย จากมาลายูและ😊อีกหลายเชื้อชาติ
Yep, when you see "peanut butter" in Pad Thai, run away from that establishment and never return.
My favourite Thai dishes are Khao khai chiao & Khao mu krop.
Nice video. No wonder thai food in the US is so much more authentic compared to vietnamese food, especially in the non Asian area in the US
So true!
Green Thai curry is my favourite. 😋
Amazing dish 🤩

Most Thai Food is super spicey
I think Vietnam PHO is more popular than pad Thai
Ha, The US has had Thai restaurants for more than 50 years in strip malls. Where you been?
I love Thai food. However, my last trip was kinda disappointing. Everything was overly sweet. Even pizza hut was sweet.
Really? Which places did you visit?
@@uptin Three weeks in August, my 2nd time. Chiang Mai, Krabi, Bangkok.
Why would you eat pizza hut in thailand LOL@@ohmai3706

Next time I would love to!
Thai restaurants are great for people with food allergies since it's very easy to make it egg free and gluten free.
